It's work only to vacines! Expensive and has no specialists, does not cover surgeries, medicines are expensive! I do not recommend.

He really does care about the animals and I've even on a couple occasions, received follow up calls from him personally to check on progress. A couple times going in there, he had the opportunity to order lots of expensive tests but didn't. He is interested in putting together the best care plan possible and gives candid options. They have a store that carries toys, food, harnesses and collars... etc. and many of these items are cheaper than found on Amazon. As far as not giving exact pricing for surgeries, there are many unknowns (ex. How much anesthesia or other meds/ equipment will be used) so the best they can do is give an estimate, which they do on the day of the surgery. When we had our puppy spayed, our actual bill was $60 less than the original estimate. What I am pretty much driving home is... In my experience, they have had many opportunities to gouge my wallet but didn't. They actually do care about their patients. I would remember while reading these reviews that people can very emotional and panicked when there is a sick fur baby involved. The events they are describing are from their point of view during a horrific time.

I booked an appointment online with them on a Saturday for the following Wednesday. I also received a confirmation of this visit. When I arrived first thing in the morning, I was told by the (Very nice and sweet) vet tech that the doctor wasn't in this week. I was shocked considering they had several days to call, text, email, or send a carrier pigeon and let me know that I wouldn't be able to be seen. Additionally, from reading other review online, it sounds like this vet needs to retire or hire another person to help him run the business if he's planning on being out of town so often. He also sounds like he is lacking in bedside manner and doesn't take the time to actually get to know your pet or their illness. There are about 3 other vets within a 3 mile radius of this place, choose one of those.

I'm trying to find the right words to adequately praise Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital…read more(MVRH), its staff, and Dr. Kelly Larabee, an Emergency Physician whose compassion and professionalism made an extraordinarily difficult day more bearable. While traveling from northern New Hampshire to Boston, we stopped in Woburn and discovered that one of our very elderly dogs could no longer get out of the car on her own. When she finally did, her rear legs collapsed beneath her. In addition to the weakness in her hind legs, she was breathing rapidly and drooling excessively. As a longtime dog owner, I recognized the look in her eyes immediately--the look that says, "It's time." Fortunately, we were less than a mile from Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital, a Level 1, 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital. We arrived without an appointment and were met by a team that was immediately welcoming, compassionate, and remarkably efficient. It was clear from the moment we walked through the door that MVRH has built a system of care designed to deliver expert treatment with both urgency and empathy. Our dog was promptly brought into the treatment area and made comfortable. Shortly thereafter, we met Dr. Kelly Larabee, whose kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern were evident from our first conversation. Dr. Larabee confirmed what we had feared but already suspected--that the time had come for our beloved companion to cross the rainbow bridge peacefully. Dr. Larabee and her team brought an extraordinary degree of humanity to veterinary emergency medicine. They treated our dog with dignity, tenderness, and respect, as though she were a member of their own family. During one of the most difficult moments a pet owner can experience, they provided not only exceptional medical care but also comfort and compassion for us. I am not sure the average pet owner--or member of the public--fully appreciates the expertise, systems of care, and operational excellence that make an institution like Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital function so effectively. Having spent much of my career in process engineering, I was deeply impressed by both the efficiency of their operations and the quality of care they delivered. Every aspect of our experience reflected a well-designed system staffed by highly skilled professionals who never lost sight of the human and emotional side of their work. Dr. Larabee and the entire MVRH team were as compassionate as they were capable, and as caring as they were efficient. Their professionalism and humanity turned a heartbreaking day into one marked by dignity, peace, and gratitude. We would all be fortunate to receive the same standard of care in human medicine.

Dr. Armato is not only incredibly skilled, but genuinely caring and compassionate. She spent so much time with me addressing every concern I had. She went over every detail of what to expect before I brought my dog home on Friday, and I was blown away by her kindness and thoroughness. If you're considering surgery for your pet, Dr. Armato and Theresa are exceptional. I picked my dog up at the end of the day on Friday and she's doing very well. The only reason they did not get a 5th star is because of Barstow the groomer. He is not a people person nor an animal person. I find him a bit arrogant. My little rescue loved going to the vet until he starting cutting her nails (and the QUICK every time). My dog now shakes like a leaf, he has to drag her in or Ashley or someone she loves takes her and again he made her bleed. I now have the vet do it and it's perfect and she goes willingly and happy. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS CLINIC. My true rating is 0 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow that…read more It is the most unprofessional, poorly-run veterinary business I've ever dealt with. Last year, my older dog was suffering from (what we later found to be) an anal fistula. At Winchester Animal Clinic, Dr. Alisha Martin misdiagnosed him as having a ruptured anal gland and put him on two different rounds of antibiotic over a course of weeks. Because of the incorrect diagnosis, the antibiotic treatment did not help. I continued to try and reach Dr. Martin to understand why it wasn't healing, what it should have been looking like, etc., and the office staff continuously brushed me off and told me she "couldn't talk" or "was at a different clinic location" that day. After calling on 3 different days, I finally got a receptionist to walk over to Dr. Martin and speak with her about my concern. Instead of chatting with me over the phone, Dr. Martin cursed me out in the background ("Why the F*** does she keep calling? Does she have the f***ng cone on him? Is she giving him the pills? What the F*** does she want me to say?"), unaware that the receiver of the phone was uncovered and I could hear everything. When I confronted the receptionist about it, she apologized that I heard it, and then said "Dr. Martin had a stressful surgery to perform this morning." Could you imagine your primary care or ped doctor behaving in this way? Could you imagine getting cursed out for wanting to talk to the doctor? I asked to speak to the office manager. Hours later, the "manager" called me back and apologized - then offered me a "discounted re-exam." I told her there's no way I'd let Dr. Martin near my dog ever again. Dr. Alisha Martin NEVER called me back to apologize for her rude, unprofessional behavior...or to even inquire about my dog's condition. She simply did not care, which is not indicative of a good doctor. All along, my dog suffered with a painful anal fistula which then required an ER visit to Mass Vet Referral Hospital. There, we dealt with an intelligent, communicative, and helpful vet named Dr. Victor Caudal, who correctly diagnosed and treated my dog's anal fistula. For primary care purposes afterward, we switched to Bulger Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Libby Holman. Again, a vet who wants to help your pet in a kind and compassionate way - and willing to SPEAK TO THE CLIENT to plan and share details. I highly recommend these two vets. They are worth the extra drive if your dog has serious health problems. And, to be honest, they are light years above and beyond the horrific business that is Winchester Animal Clinic.
