My dog is an 80 pound male German Shepherd who not only was in extreme pain, but also petrified of the vet and he become aggressive. (He was hit by a car when he was a puppy and hates the vet. He was treated at this emergency room). Due to the fish hook, I could not muzzle him. I did let staff know he should be sedated in order to be seen. I had my dog on a prong collar and under my control at all times. The vet tech that came out was very rude and took him in the back. I also informed her he should be sedated, he hates the vet. Moments later, I could hear my dog screaming and crying in the back and I knew it was not going well. After several minutes, the tech came out in huff, called me in, was extremely angry and stated due to his aggressive nature, they could not examine him. She basically threw the leash at me. She put us in the waiting room and said the vet would be in to speak with me. The vet came in and explained the dog needed to be sedated, which I said, I know, I already told them. She then told me the staff were not willing to do it and I needed to go to another emergency room, such as Angell Memorial. They refused to treat him. I have never been so appalled by an animal hospital in my whole life. The fact that you are an emergency hospital and you have staff that are scared or unwilling to handle an aggressive dog that needed treatment is unacceptable. At no point in time did I not relay this and I had him under control at all times. Your tech's nor your vet were willing to handle him, let alone examine him and there is no excuse. You can't pick and choose which animals you treat and if you have staff that can't handle an aggressive animal, they should not be in this field. My dog was in pain and they were useless.

My last visit would sadly be my last as my family made the difficult and painful decision to put him down. Its taken me a little over a week to write something but I know I wanted to tell everyone about this location. Numerous issues, including a cancer diagnosis, coupled with his old age after a surgery at his home vet. The staff were always so sweet and caring with him. They even managed to entertain him with some classical music when he was a little yappy! He lived a long, happy spoiled life. I miss him everyday. My first pet out of high school, we were almost never apart. I think that knowing he was in the best possible hands near the end helped take some of my guilt grief away. Every single person was amazing and I just know that profession cannot be easy. God, my sister and I cried for hours and we were never rushed. Dr.Silverstone, thank you for always being straight with us but also extremely professional and kind. They contract out to help with end of life arrangements and cremation, if you choose. 'epaws' or something. The arrangements were done quickly but not so quickly that you worry about disrespect, you know? A week later and I have his urn and we've set up a memorial in the house for him. No one wants to think about these things but pricing is transparent and gotten out of the way quickly. And yes, it's pricy but what isn't? This is emergency care. Get pet insurance!!!! Honestly, I would have gone bankrupt if it helped but there is unfortunately a limit to things that can be treated and the doctor said it best: "age is not a disease". So hopefully your fur babies live long, happy lives and that you only have to go for minor inconveniences but if you do have an emergency, this location was clean, professional and fairly easy to get to. I had broken my ankle last year so walking has been a challenge but I got around just fine, even carrying around my 20lb lump of love. Thank you all again. I don't know when I'll be ready for another pet but I don't regret all the years of love. Once time has softened the pain, and years go by, I hope you all stick around and do what you ALL have done so well and maybe I'll see you again...Hopefully under better circumstances. Wishing you all love and peace and kindness.

Initially we thought the bird was dead, but it wasn't. However, it was very lethargic. We tried to provide it some heat and thought it might be a good idea to bring it to Boston commons. On our way there, we stumbled upon VEG ER for pets which was open 24 hours and had images of birds and other animals displaying on their TV (it can be care to find vets that care for avians). They let us in, we explained the situation, and they gave us two fair options - let the vet check it out and if they determine there is little hope for recovery, ethically euthanize it, or, if it does show signs of recovery after 30 min - 1 hr, they'd bring it to Boston Commons. We didn't have time to stick around for the final decision, but I do hope it did recover. The staff there was really friendly, thanked us for being good Samaritans, and had us fill out a form. They also did offer us complimentary snacks and beverages. I was satisfied with my unexpected visit here.

There's seems to be a huge effort in working with me and my pup. I would like to give them another chance. In addition I would like to shout out Vet tech David Rivera. He was one of the first techs to see Lancelot and I have seen him at many clinics. Throughout the times I have been more difficult his customer services skill were always excellent and he always treated me with respect. I can definitely see his love for animals and the profession. One time I was sent out to Acton to get a root canal done on my cat. When I got there, the dentist there said it couldn't be done and she just extracted the tooth. For $1,000. I got referred to another place in Chatlestown for something else, because their relationship with the people who had been doing onsite had fallen apart. That one cost me over $1000 too,for something I was told would cost around $250. When I came in for the last few visits, nobody ever seemed to know why I was there. There seemed not to be communication or professionalism. Their prices were exorbitant, too! I really regret not having switched to my current vet sooner.
