This place is a Fort Washington gem. I was seeking anyplace to grab dinner after a long day at the auto shop. This place was less than a mile away and seemed just as good as any. Boy was I wrong, it was way better than most! I made a to go order of tropical fried rice and pad Thai. They were both delicious. The pad that had chicken as protein and was the better of the two, but the tropical fried rice (with chicken, shrimp and pineapples) was a very close second. My only slight disappointment was the shrimp still had the tails on. Therefore, I had to abandon my fork and get my fingers dirty digging into my food to separate tail from shrimp. Minor inconvenience aside, it was delicious. I will definitely go back, as this will be my go to for to go Thai! read more

My goodness! Where do I start. I've been craving good Thai for a minute. Had Thai at Waugh Chapel on Saturday (take out), I'll have to revisit for a more detailed review. This little restaurant in strip mall was a surprise. Dropped in for lunch. Three other patrons were there. So service was quick. Water and soon a complementary little bowl of soup was placed in front of me. Lemongrass soup. Spicy and fragrant with pieces of chicken and quartered mushrooms in a spicy broth. So good. My server, Gong said it comes with any protein that you might want from the menu. Next time I'll have it with rice and some other stuff. My appetizer of spring rolls were hot and crispy. Pieces of chicken and shrimp. Get them! I ordered my favorite Thai Basil Fried Rice. Huge shrimp and just enough heat to warm your tongue just a little. Also grabbed the pork Pad Prik Kra Prao from the lunch menu. Stir fried in a spicy brown sauce with green peppers and basil. Man, I did as much damage as I could. Gong asked if I was able to drive. I had read the reviews before I dropped in. All I can say is come see for yourself. Excellent Thai food! What a great gem and find within the Fort Washington area. Bangkok Golden serves up excellent Thai food, both in preparation, taste & cooking! The Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and Larb dishes are ver good! They have a long list of menu items; including lunch specials. The price is good too. Two standout dishes for me is the Bangkok Noodles dish and Duck Curry plate....both dishes are delicious and so flavorful....with the right amount of "Thai American" heat-spice level. I order these dishes on repeat when coming here! I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

We ordered take out lunch from here on a Monday when our go to Chinese spot was closed. The food was hot, fresh and delicious! Bangkok noodle: Amazing! Good mix of meat and veggies with a super flavorful sauce. The "char" flavor of a flame wok was just right. I kept eating more even after full for that perfect last bite! Goong Kao Poad Aan: This was good too. Very heavy on the baby corn which my kids love. The sauce was flavorful but a little thin however, it soaked into the white rice nicely. Grabbed dinner here last night and really enjoyed it. I've been coming here for years but usually get food to go. Free parking located directly in front of the restaurant. Staff is super friendly and attentive. We ordered the spring rolls, pad Thai, and red curry. The food was presented well and tasted amazing! The best part for me is that the food came out piping hot and remained hot while I was eating! Highly recommend! Very informal place, but neat, clean, and tasty food! First stop in after hearing raving reviews from friends about this place. Hidden on a side road off 210, literally the best thai food I got in southern Maryland. I ordered take away, and got the crispy duck, the dumplings, and the shrimp drunk noodles. When im telling you that the duck was the best Asian food I had this year, im very serious. After traveling home 30 minutes, the duck was still crispy. Very surprising. The shrimp drunk noodles were our second favorite dish. The noodles were steamed and had loads of sauce and veggies. 6 shrimp on the entree. The steamed dumplings again were similar to shumai and a flavorful dipping sauce. It seemed to have a blend of meat flavors and veggies. But I was in such a rush to order I didnt read it fully. Just trusted my friends and im glad I did. I wish I had a picture of the panang curry. It's was straight soup! I ordered it with veggies and the just threw in bell peppers and onions. It was horrible. I got a refund for that dish. I get home and try the drunken noodles. It tasted burnt, it lacked flavor and again had no veggies but bell peppers and onions. I ordered it with veggies no meat. The space is clean when you walk in. A nice local Thai restaurant in Ft Washington MD? And a good one! I was surprised to come across this place tonight. Had fried spring rolls and entree was pad thai (I asked for spicy and the heat was medium). Both were very good. And mango with sticky rice for dessert was very good too, although the mango wasn't the ripest, the sticky rice did the heavy lifting for flavor. The place is in a small strip mall and inside is unassuming but large enough to sit a large party or 2 for dining. I've been here a few times and the experience was never this unfortunate. 12:30 lunch meeting. I'm having lunch with my colleague and parking when I come inside and he's sitting at a table in the rear. Restaurant is empty except for maybe two other tables. Not even 10 people in the restaurant. I sit down. He's been there about 10 minutes and apparently he'd asked our server if he could order chicken with no batter (he told me he was cutting carbs and sugar this month), and the server gave him a simple - "no" with no further explanation. Word?? That should have been our warning. We were going to go to Thai Pavilion in National Harbor but apparently they're closed down. We end up here since it's nearby. We've got to wave our server down to come take our order. There's only water on the table. Ice cold in a nice pitcher. The water was good. Best part of the meal. My colleague orders some kind of dried beef with a dipping sauce (+ a plate of veggies as an entree) as an appetizer and I get summer rolls and my usual - Drunken Noodle as my entree. The beef turned up nicely seasoned and wasn't dry even though it looked like jerky. Takes a good 15 minutes for the appetizers to arrive which we finished quickly because we were both hungry. I get a Thai beer. First time. It's ok. Our entrees take maybe another 20 minutes and we're looking around like, "what's taking them so long, the restaurant is EMPTY", jeez. Our server eventually shows up. We asked for more water and he refills us. No further engagement of any sort from him. My drunken noodle was average at best and kind of dry so I asked for soy sauce and the usual spice rack you get with your entree and our server delivers me a bowl with packets of soy sauce in it. Packets of soy sauce?? Like I'm walking out with it as a to-go bag? How odd. Me and my colleague talk a little bit more, finish up our meals and all we see is this HAND that swoops in to grab the card from table's edge that hadn't been there even 5 seconds. This HAND belongs to a woman who seemingly appears out of thin air. We're in the back of the restaurant, mind you. We laugh because we had no idea WHERE this woman came from or WHERE she was when we were experiencing a continual service deficit with our server. She was faster than a peregrine falcon. Maybe she was camouflaged in the corner like THE PREDATOR in the first Schwarzenegger film. They have the card longer than 5 minutes so we (again) have to wave our server down. The place is dated, the carpet doesn't look like it's been cleaned in forever and the service is slower than a snail in a peanut butter bath. The fastest movement that took place in this restaurant was them collecting payment. Parking is ample as it's in a small strip mall, but I won't be back anytime soon. This definitely has a local joint vibe. What I mean is that locals frequent this place and the staff remember them. I came here on a Sunday afternoon/evening with a friend who frequented the place. It had been a while since I had Thai food, but one thing I remembered was it being spicy. I was a little nervous for that reason. However, my friend was happy to guide me through the menu. Apparently, he had tried 90% of the menu lol. We ordered spring rolls, I ordered number 40 under combinations (I believe mixed veggies) with chicken. This comes with white rice. You can upgrade to fried rice for $4. We elected to split an order of fried rice for $15.95 (if I recall correctly). He ordered #32 with beef, which is his favorite and has a little kick to it and also comes with white rice. I liked what I ordered and it was light, but I will be trying new items if/when I return. read more

Fort Washington's best kept secret! I come here often- at least twice a month, and this place is pretty consistent. It's always packed, but we never have to wait to be seated. So disappointing especially because I have recommended this restaurant to so many in the past, however according to my experience tonight, that will not be happening again. Mushy rice and unseasoned seafood. Charged extra and still no flavor. Charged an additional $10 for a side of curry sauce. Server kept walking away abruptly and wasn't willing to accommodate any requests which we found rude and disregarding. I had to flag down my server and eventually walked up to the "counter" to request condiments and to pay my bill. Again, super disappointing! Food quality had certainly plummeted. DO BETTER! I didn't know that Bangkok Golden had another location in Fairfax, but I was surprised that they have this Thai gem of a restaurant in the Fort Washington area! I am a huge fan of their Crispy Duck Basil - these were slices of roasted duck, battered, and deep-fried, then sautéed with basil leaves and chili peppers in this yummy savory sauce - it definitely has a kick to it, but it is crispy and yummy! Definitely super addicting, because you can finish this dish in no time, shoving these morsels in your mouth like popcorn! Usually, duck can be more of a miss for me, as it can be prepared incorrectly, making it unflavorful or super fatty (not rendering). However, Bangkok Golden has this dish perfected! It's your not familiar with PG county, you would think there is nothing going on this small complex off of livingston rd. But it's surprising that this restaurant had out eaten many thai restaurants Ive eaten at and continues to be my favorite. They even have a sister location in fairfax,va. We ordered their papaya salad which may seem like a pile of shredded papaya but it complimented our appetizers. i like crisp and the citrus flavors especially when eating fried foods we ordered like their shrimp and vegetable tempura, spring roll, and chicken wings. The poh tak soup is very subtle in flavors but u get the taste of assorted seafoods, scallops, squid and mushrooms in a married clear broth with fresh chilies and lime. The pad thai is our favorite, if we didn't order so much i would've at the pad thai all to myself. But when we ordered from the signature dishes I knew I was going to stuff my face with the Bangkok Crispy that comes with a flavorful basil chili sauce with their deep fried king fish. We had to order the panama curry, for those who don't like spice but like the sweet taste of coconut in their red sauce. It will win your heart. Ask for their side tray of assorted spices and vinegars.. u must have your curry with it.. to add the tanginess and the extra kick for spicy lovers. i love the green marinated chilies. we ended our meal with the sticky mango rice. We got five different appetizers- shrimp cake, puffed pastry, squid, wontons, and satay and all were reasonable priced and scrumptious. Service is fast but the chicken satay wasn't as flavorful as it was missing the usual curry taste to it. The Tom Kha was good...and for entrees, we got the Massamun Curry (a little thin but flavor was good, rice would have been better- it wasn't sticky rice. I got the Pad Thai and the flavor profile was there but could have used more green onions and beans sprouts, I asked for medium spicy but I think they forgot to put the spice, we got the papaya salad and it was good (more tamarind flavor forward, and Bangkok Lo Mein which I didn't try but looked like Chinese Lomein...glad there is this Thai spot in the area and will certainly be back! read more

Everything was delicious! The spring rolls were hot and crispy and the dipping sauce is perfect! The Lomein was seasoned perfectly and may be my new go-to dish there. It comes with chicken, beef & shrimp. For the Bangkok Noodles, we substituted wide rice noodles for cellophane noodles and this too was delicious. It came with chicken, beef & shrimp also.
