Their calamari consist of rings (a bit chewy in a bad way). I prefer the arms of the squid (tentacles). The flour coating (fried) came off as I tried to eat the rings. Their tom yum seafood soup is good though, as was their yuzu mocktail. The mango mocktail is a bit on the sweet side. It's the Pride Month and the whole place is decked out with rainbow flags including on the tables. They also added many national flags on the ceiling, presumably for the World Cup. Very joyful! They offer two specials (see my photo of the menu). The duck red curry is great, comes with tempura green beans and thin, scallion pancake (crispy!). Menu says roti flatbread, but in reality it is East Asian style scallion pancakes which I don't mind; in fact I love it. The ladies' room is spacious and clean by the way. The menu includes pictures of the entrees and cocktails to help you decide what to order. I ordered the kapow perfect with beef, which was stir-fried with fresh basil leaves, onion, scallion, and a spicy chili garlic basil sauce. It was aromatic and flavorful, but smaller than expected. I wanted to try the crispy chive dumplings, but they were sold out. I enjoyed the South of the Border cocktail, which was made with mezcal, tequila, Amaro Nonino, pineapple juice, lime juice, and syrup. Thai Signature is really one of the best Thai restaurants around locally. And that goes for both food and service. We made reservations for an early Monday evening. When we first got there, it seemed maybe reservations were unnecessary, but by the time we left every table was taken. It seems Thai Signature does a brisk business with take-out orders too. The menu has most of the traditional dishes you would expect at a Thai restaurant, but didn't have some items you might hope for such as Khao Soi. Based on what we ordered, I thought their standout dishes were the beef Phad Thai and the Fried Wontons. The Phad Thai was delicious and the beef of excellent quality. Loved that they didn't stint on the crumbled peanuts and didn't over do the scallions! Loved both the flavor and texture of the wontons. There's many more appetizers here that I want to come back and try. JP loved his Khao Moo Dang, which was slices of barbecued pork accompanied by rice and cucumber. Note that the pork in this dish is seasoned with five spice, which you might not expect. I also had a cup of the Tom Kha soup with chicken, mushrooms and perhaps a few too many slices of red onion. My friend and I are pretty picky about Thai food, having each found places we've long considered hands-down favorites. But we found ourselves in Old Town to meet up, and decided to try Thai Signature. In short, it fully lived up to our hopes and any comparisons to our favorite Thai places. The atmosphere is great - casual and homey, but still feeling a little bit upscale. If you want a "Thai" environment, however, I wouldn't recommend it. The atmosphere is more like a British pub (although this is befitting of Old Town). The staff were great and stayed on top of our service. And our food and drinks were nothing short of excellent. My only complaints and warnings: The front room (same as the bar area) was pretty noisy, and it wasn't even full. It's almost all hard surfaces, so tons of bouncing conversations and dining sounds. If you want more quiet, try the side room. I don't know if it's quieter, but it seemed like it might be. The online menu I'd seen before going was significantly lower in prices than the actual menu. Also, you'll see reviewer ranges of $20-30 per person, but that's misleading. If you go for dinner, expect that to be possible just for your entree. Add an appetizer, drink or dessert, and a respectable tip and you'll easily hit $100+ for two people. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, just be financially prepared. :) Can you have dinner for $20-30 per person? Sure, but just expect that it'll be a limited dinner. read more

Solid dinner at this establishment. We arrived on a Sunday early evening without reservations and were promptly seated with a party of 4. One of my friends is gluten intolerant, and they were able to accommodate without any issue. They even have happy hour on Sundays! You can get a mug of any draft beer for $10 or $3 off cocktails. Unfortunately, after they advertised that HH deal to me and I ordered a mug of 60 minute IPA, they were out of all drafts except Sapporo and Kirin. I ordered their spicy drunken noodles at the usual recommended spice level. For context, I do eat more spicy than the average human. I could taste the spice, but I do wish there was a hint more. The summer rolls were packed beautifully and delicious with both the spring roll sauce and also peanut sauce. I also enjoyed my highball cocktail, although it was served in a coupe which was odd. The best place we came across in Alexandria! We had an amazing day in DC. Came back and rode bikes down to the water and walked around a bit before walking back up King street to find something interesting. We didn't want a touristy spot but somewhere that had a decent bartender and food. We walked in and immediately knew we should had been there all along. The smell inside was AMAZING. We sat at the bar and got margaritas and happily sipped those while we chatted. So flavorful and delicious. We ordered curry puffs and satay chicken to take back to our room. Soooo delicious! I spent $171 (including 20% tip) on drinks and lunch with a friend and can't quite figure where the hell all that money went. Thai food is normally a pretty tremendous value. The food was good but the plates were smaller than I'm used to from a million other Thai places. I had drunken noodle (they call it drunken volcano) and my guest had pad thai. The basics. A couple of orders of dumplings and some drinks - that's it. I had zero leftovers to take home. I'm reminded why I eat out less lately. Apparently I drank one too many mai tais @$14 a pop in super tiny glasses with a giant ice cube in the middle. Once all was said and done - you MAY have a 4 or 5 oz drink. Maybe. Service was charming and polite. The place is lovely and I like the vibe, but I just feel like it isn't a particularly good value. Lots of "ergonomic engineering" at play here. The bar is the focal point. Parking is notoriously bad in Old Town too so there's that. Came here for dinner on a Monday night. After reading the reviews, I decided to call ahead for a reservation. I was able to get one the day of and we sat outside. I have a severe gluten allergy and read about their GF options online. We started with appetizers: fresh summer roll (GF) and the coconut shrimp. The summer roll was so good and I loved the sauce, I even asked for an extra sauce to go with my meal. The coconut shrimp was not GF, but my party seemed to enjoy it. Three of us shared two meals the Kapow Shrimp and the Pad Thai. The whole table liked the Pad Thai the best. The chicken was thinly cut and the dish had nice flavor. The kapow shrimp had less flavor and was less impressive, but still good. For GF folks out there I would just suggest confirming with the server. When I went (9/2024) there was a shared fryer, so anything fried and labeled GF is cross contaminated. The service was also stellar.
