This place is the best carry-out I've experienced in a while. The food tastes amazing, the customer service the cashier gives is always the best. I've never had to worry about waiting too long. We ordered dinner: shrimp rolls - C- Spring Rolls - C- Fried Dumplings C- Shrimp Basket C French Fries B Seafood Lo Mein C- Combo Fried rice C We usually order from Top China once a month and the food is normally in the solid B category. The front desk staff is friendly and engaging. Typically, the food is good not great but serviceable Chinese carry-out grub. They normally provide a lot of food the price. However, today they were totally off their game. With the exception of Seafood Lo Mein and Fried Rice, Everything tasted like frozen entrees purchased from Restaurant Depot fried in old oil. My favorite dish Seafood Lo Mein was ruined by a heavy hand of red pepper. I requested mild Spicy and I got blow out your a$$ red pepper spicy. I am so disappointed that I spent approximately $70 on this meal. read more

I had family visiting so I ordered us all Chinese and had it delivered right through the Yelp app. Seamless transaction, an even faster delivery, completed with a text notification indicating pick up and drop off at my doorstep. Which is a nice feature. Navigating the menu, via the phone was a bit cumbersome, there's no way to search for specific dishes so when someone said they wanted it's orange chicken and i scrolled through for what felt like hours upon hours to find orange chicken. As for the food, we had wonton soup, (they charge an extra $1.00 for the chips that go into the soup here, that was eye opening), egg rolls, lo mein, general tsos, orange chicken and beef with broccoli. All of it tasted great, no complaints here. Like most Chinese restaurants, the dishes were smothered in sauce, which, if that's your thing then you're in luck because they love to make sure you have enough taste to go with you dish. The shrimp egg roll was good and the wings. The shrimp lo mein was okay. The shrimp was very small and over cooked. Plus it didn't taste that the shrimp was that fresh so I only ate a few pieces because I didn't want to get sick. Will try them again. read more

I am calling the health department as I write this. I ordered from them on Christmas Day via DoorDash. I could immediately tell the green beans were spoiled; I should have thrown the entire order (shrimp & broccoli, hot & sour soup, chick wings) away, but the others didn't look as bad. Several hours later I had a terrible headache and ended vomiting everything I ate. I had to take off from work because I felt awful and continued dry heaving throughout the day. Today my wife and I was looking for a good Chinese restaurant in the area so we tried out Top China. We purchased the five wings with fried rice and broccoli with garlic sauce for her. I know that sounds normal for a Chinese restaurant but after eating their food was great. Everything was perfect and the customer service was very professional. I visited this establishment yesterday 12/27/18. I picked up my to-go order and while I was waiting for my sauces, I saw one of the workers spit in the trash can by the kitchen. Living in the Fort Washington area this is my go to Chinese restaurant. I have never had any issues with top China and the food is always delicious. I recently ordered a large meal for my family and everything was great except for the beef and broccoli personally was lacking flavor but their wings, egg foo yong, and lo mein was all very good. In addition they have Japancafe right next door ( best of both worlds) if you're looking for hibachi or sushi they are in the perfect location to be near each other. read more

There are pros and cons to this resturant that I will explain. I will compare this restaurant with others in the area. I stopped in one Friday evening and placed an order in person instead of ordering ahead. wished I had called ahead of my arrival because I had to wait a few minutes. The wait was not very long, maybe because I was hungry and tired, I was ready to eat asap. I ordered a large shrimp and broccoli with an egg roll which is my go-to dinner when I am indecisive. In my experience with egg rolls in the neighborhood they are usually nice sized and filling, but greasier than an 80's Jerry curl. Top China's egg roll was not greasy at all, it has a nice crunch to it, yet so small I thought it was an hors d'oeuvre. The shrimp and broccoli was sort of the same. Most carryouts in my opinion are stingy with the shrimp but this place had an balanced shrimp and brocolli ratio. My only issue was it lacked flavor. The sauce was watery, I normally avoid soy sauce or any other flavor enhancers, yet I had to use a whole package with this meal. Overall, I was full after eating, and able to studying afterwards without feeling bloated, yet I was a little disappointed by the lack of flavor and size of the egg roll. Will I return? Maybe, I would like to try other dishes. Will I recommend? Sure if you do not mind ordering an extra egg roll and adding extra flavor. Employees were polite and welcoming read more

I have to preface this review by telling y'all that I'm not into the typical Chinese places that offer take out. They just seem to be Chinese junk food to me, meaning that it doesn't ever taste super fresh or flavorful. That said, we had to drop off the ridiculous amount of dry cleaning we always have, and we were both STARVING after work. Top China is a few feet away, so in we went. I ordered the roast pork with veggies. Hmm, I guess I forgot that pork at these places is typically red on the outside and sweet-ish. That's not what I was in the mood for. In addition, much of the meat was chewy. I liked all the other parts of the meal way better - veggies, fried rice (typical, but it's still fried rice), and the eggroll (also the standard stuff for these types of places - and I loves cabbage, so thumbs up). Lucky for me, the hubs had an order of, what else, General Tso's. The flavor was better there. It was so much better than my stuff, that I pretty much ate half of his. Poor thing. It still wasn't even outstanding though. The outside was not crunchy at all. This had nothing to do with the time it took to get home. The outer coating just melded with all the sauce. Still, I was very happy to eat it instead of my dish. Am I going to rush out and go back to Top China? If anything, the only reason I'd go back there would be during another drycleaning run, only if I'm starving again. However, there's another place way closer to my house that I'd probably get take out from, if I was in the mood for this kind of stuff. They charge $2 for each wing, but will serve them to you with feathers & long hair on them. For $2 I can't get a clean wing!! Anything else is okay just okay,but to tell a customer No they can't remove feathers really upset me. I am not an animal I don't eat Hair & Feathers on my food. read more

I have eaten here a few times and here's what I think: Pork Lo Mein - Amazing hot & sour soup - Amazing.. lots of veggies and a good kick chicken with cashew - not enough flavor, but acceptable pork fried rice - yummy kung pow chicken - yummy egg rolls - standard sweet & sour pork - yummy They are quick with the take out, by the time I got there it was ready for me. Its pretty cheap.. standard chinese food prices, but its pretty good stuff. The food is tasty and well prepared. Their staff is friendly and personable. By far the best Chinese food in the Oxon Hill/Ft Washington/Tantallon area. The prices are reasonable and the quality exceed the pricing level. I have visited the restaurant at least twice a month for the last 10 months. This usually occurs on the weekend, when we have unexpected guests and our kids with the grandchildren return for a visit. Usually, we place a large order that covers family and house guests. 95% of the time my guest and family are extremely pleased with the food. Most of the chef's recommended dishes are very good and they are accompanied with a a healthy dose of vegetables as well as the listed meat. My personal favorite is their "Perfect Pair" combination dish that features vegetable,Shrimp and scallops. My family prefers the Shrimp Lo Mien and General Tso Shrimp. A pleasant surprise is their chicken wings. They are almost perfect! My house guests always request an order of their wings. Recently, a friend requested that I get an order of forty wings for their party from Top China. Honestly, the restaurant is a notch below the top Chinese restaurants in downtown DC, but it is a cut above other neighborhood carryouts. read more

I wanted top go with 3.5 stars, but as usual when I'm torn I go with the go with the higher rating, what ps it over the top is the service. If you call ahead, your meal is always, and I mean always ready in about ten to fifteen minutes. The woman who answers the phone is also very pleasant. She gets you with a smile and days thank you, singing that doesn't happen with enough frequency in the DC area. The food is good, but the service is much better. Try the triple delight its excellent. Funny story about this place, IRS agents stopped in to tell them that they were being audited, they didn't speak enough English to understand, and the IRS agents spoke no Chinese, so I had to pull up the translation app on my phone and translate what was being said to them. I've visited this locale several times, typically right after working out at the gym because it is in the same shopping center (I know, not great to end a great workout with greasy Chinese, but I'm guilty). Usually I'm super hungry so I don't like to wait for my food, and that is where this place rocks. I'd be surprised if I even had to wait 5 minutes for my food, and I just walk in and don't call in an order. I haven't tried anything else besides the beef with broccoli because it won me over, but it's pretty decent and I think you get enough food for your money. I really like the fried rice that comes with the meal because it has bean sprouts (not those little peas and carrots that a lot of Chinese restaurants have that I pick out of my food because I don't like them), and the rice has a good flavor to it. It seems like its harder to find places that put in bean sprouts instead of the pea/carrot combo, so it's a winner. read more
