the restaurant got the order wrong; refused to remake the order and blamed the customer for not speaking "clearly". On top of that this messily portion size for $40 is the worse calorie per dollar thing a person could do in this recession. Strongly urge you to stay away & safe your money!!! How anyone could be a repeat customer to this establishment is beyond me. - T

I've had sisters Thai in the Tyson location and I think it was a little bit better or maybe it was just what I ordered. I felt like my pad see ew was a bit overcooked. The noodles weren't very chewy just limp. I also felt like the som tum salad lacked the kind of sourness I really appreciate in papaya salad. I didn't have a bad experience, just felt like the food served that night lacked authenticity according to my personal expectations. Service was great, no complaints there. She was fast, helpful, and knew the menu well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And it's a pretty large restaurant very beautifully decorated. It's great for groups or small parties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The lunch special was . $20 for an app and a good portioned meal. I was incredibly impressed. I loved the drunken noodles and peanut dressing on the salad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute vibe inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely go back!

It was Christmas Eve and we were looking for somewhere in Old Town Alexandria to get food. So glad our search led us to Sisters Thai!! I was super impressed and dare I say blown away by just about everything! From the Tom Ka soup right through to the Drunken Noodles - each dish we had was packed with flavours that were bold, authentic, and beautifully balanced. The service was great! Despite it being super busy - our sever was very attentive (especially on a holiday evening), and even came to let us know the kitchen was closing and if we wanted desserts, we had 10-15 mins to place the order/s. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The venue itself is really unique/trendy - I would describe it as a fun, unexpected blend of a cozy French bistro aesthetic with a Thai twist--warm, stylish, and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A total gem in Old Town & I can't wait to go back!

We stopped by for a weeknight dinner with some friends we had coming in town, and were able to get seated right away! It was pretty busy but the service was stellar and our food came out quickly too. Tried the thai tea which is always good. Then the summer salad with salmon added, chicken panang curry and the ka prow. We were all extremely happy with the food especially the portion sizes! Will for sure stop by again when Im over here for work again.

Went with a full table of 8 people and we feasted! Everything we ordered was delicious from the appetizers, salads, to entrees. Our table ordered 12 different dishes and they were ALL amazing, not a single "meh" item!! Wish we saved room in our bellies for dessert but just couldn't do it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is super charming and small enough for a fully attentive staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is the second time I've been here - the last time was a year ago and I will go back again!!

Absolutely loved the decor of this restaurant! It's like three places in one. It's has a very unique and spacious bar setup, a cozy restaurant feel, and also a specialty coffee/dessert shop feel. Great architecture overall. The food was a 7/10. Good, but nothing to write home about. For starters, the Crab Rangoon was one of the better ones I've had, as it wasn't overloaded with cream cheese. The crispy wontons and mango sticky rice were also tasty. For my entree I ordered the duck curry. It was a tad underwhelming, as it lacked the spice level I was looking for and the duck was pretty soggy and fatty. Not a bad dish, but not what you would want, given the price tag. Service was more than satisfactory. The waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and prompt.

    Drunken noodles (not good)

Came here for lunch yesterday. Overall, the food was disappointing. Thai tea: delicious, still. Good blend of strong and sweet but not too sweet or creamy. $5 Drunken Noodles: really not good. I looked at photos to see if I was trippin and it seems like the noodle squishiness/slime varies. In my case, the noodles were QUITE slimy. Like very slimy and squishy and gross. In addition to being gross, they tasted very bland. I was so disappointed. $20-22 Crabmeat fried rice: I don't remember there being celery before. Gross. I've never had celery in my crab fried rice anywhere before. Also, the rice was the blandest it's ever been. Even my kid was like, "maybe it's only really good at dinner." $28 Crispy spring rolls: good and crispy but these are hard to mess up. $12 Service: fine. Definitely slow. We are outside and were the only ones so it felt like we got forgotten at one point. I like to make my own sauce for spring rolls. Spring rolls took like 20 minutes. I waited an additional 13 for soy sauce because our server didn't come around for forever. My kid's water glass was empty for a long time. Honestly... maybe we'll try the Tyson's location next time. This was NOT it this time.

Hands down my favorite spot in the DMV -- Sisters Thai never misses. From the plating to the flavors to the whole vibe, everything is perf. It's the perfect mix: restaurant, bakery, and bar all in one. Service is always good. Dropping a throwback video to when I first discovered this place -- still just as good.

Came here as it was an easy walk from the hotel with a fellow trainer. The food was pretty good. The service was fair. My colleague asked for more cashews than chicken for her dish and they didn't listen. I had to ask them several times for extra cashews. We were done with the meal that we had to ask for them to go. We got some, but probably like 6 of them. Anyhow beside that we sat outside and it was fall day. I order pad Thai and green curry. I enjoyed the curry, however the pad Thai was very average. Actually the curry was even better the next day, I ate it cold and it was tasty. If I come back to Alexandria again, I will def go.

Sisters Thai is one of those places that everyone wants to be at. The deco is amazing! I asked my big spoon to bring me and he did. Beautiful day to eat outside! Love that this chain is growing! I'd get into it BUT everything is always good! Pick anything on the menu and you will not be disappointed! Service can be off sometimes and language barriers are sometimes an issue but other than that, great service, great food and great ambiance!

magazine menu + Donald Rolls // Sisters Thai * ALX, VA
    Alisha L.

Cute spot for Thai food, drinks & desserts! I dined at Sister's Thai ALX with my husband last night (07.12.25). We were seated at a small table in the middle of the Magnolia section of the restaurant. While it didn't feel completely cramped, more elbow space and room to move around would be desirable. Seating seemed more well suited for a coffee shop than traditional dining. The overall decor vibe at Sister's Thai is eclectic -- it's a large mix of luxury looking furniture & finishings alongside thrift store esque decor finds. All of our food was flavorful & the drinks were well curated! We ordered the Donald roll as an appetizer. The sauce on roll made the dish a stand out! I also enjoyed the contrast of the rolls' crispy exterior and chewy interior. For entrees we ordered Veggie Tofu Green Curry & Crispy Duck Curry -- both came with rice and can be adjusted to suit preferences for spice level. The veggies were cooked well. They were tender without being mushy & each still had a nice bite. The crispy duck lived up to its name & was delicious! I previously visited the Sisters Thai location in the Mosaic District and enjoyed it. I'll add ALX to my list of places to return to!

For us, we were talking to an artist in the Torpedo Art Studio in Old Town Alexandria, admiring the work he did. It got then we started talking about lunch as he was from Hong Kong. He mentioned we go across the street and try something he liked as it was something he would have back home. So, taking his advice we walked across the street and went to Mai Thai. It was a good suggestion. We went in and had a seat. Our waitress (a wonderful woman from Guam) gave some advice and we to some time to think. In the end we decided to start with Spring Rolls. This is the freshest sliced roll of crispy veggie combinations of lettuce, celery, mixed veggies wrapped in a thin wrap and served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. It was truly fresh and tasty. The dipping sauce was unique and made this worth a meal by itself. Then, being a cold day outside, soup seemed to be a good thing for lunch. We selected some traditional bowls of soup. First was TOM KA. It was a combination of vegetables and tofu in a coconut broth with mushrooms and fresh herbs. The soup had a tint of white. It was light and tasty. It was at a room temperature which is the way you have soup in Thailand. It was refreshing and light. Next we had TOM YUM. This is a combination made from slices of chicken in a lemongrass soup with fresh mushrooms, cilantro, scallions, galangal, kaffir-lime leaves, and Thai spices. The broth was light and traditional. If you wanted more spice our hostess brought it to you. Again, this was the way I had it when I was working in the rural areas of Thailand. Nothing fancy. Nothing simple. It was true home cooking that was served to you in a method truly Thai. The lunch was simple, but the way you would eat in Thailand. The taste and flavor was what to expect. The team is wonderful and friendly. The price was fine. It was good to find Mai Thai. And maybe being told about it from an artists does make it true to say that "Art is in the eye (and mouth) of the beholder."

Was seated by a delightful young lady, and found the decor and layout to be quite pleasing; modest by elegant. As for the fare, it was indeed quite worth the walk. Ordered a bowl of Tom Yum and the Pad Thai Mun Goong. The Tom Yum was solid and quite flavorful, a flux of tangy lemongrass with the oniony sweetness of steeped scallions, and enoki mushrooms to provide some heartiness. The Pad Thai Mun Goong was a chef specialty pad Thai made with stir fried rice noodle, prawns shrimp tomalley oil (a crucial element for this version), egg and bean sprouts, naturally topped with green onions, peanuts and a lime for squeezing, and this also was quite phenomenal. Savory, sweet, a little tingle of sourness from the citrus in the mid-palate, and the juicy, briny shrimp balancing the dense carbs and rich flavorful sauce. All-in-all, I was well pleased this visit. As this is Padaek's second location, I hope they don't expand too much further/quickly and compromise on quality.

This is a family-run restaurant and it was great to see that they had their very young son manning the counter and the cash register in a totally professional way. The menu is straight-forward with the usual and expected dishes. One dish I did not expect to see, but did, were hush puppies! Everything we ordered for takeout was excellent. Portions are generous and inexpensive. Note: there are two tables in the restaurant if you prefer to dine in. We ordered egg drop soup, crispy pork wontons, Mongolian Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The egg drop soup was better than your typical egg drop soup, with a flavorful broth and silky but still hearty texture. The wontons were packed with pork and came with a tasty bright red dipping sauce that complimented the wontons nicely. The Mongolian Beef and Mongolian Chicken are the same dish, with the only difference being the meat. These dishes were very well prepared with just the right amount of onion, scallion and sauce. The beef had a delicious slightly smoky flavor and was cut into nicely shaped pieces. The Mongolian dishes automatically come with white rice. Speaking of the rice, it had a great texture and just the right amount of moisture. Take out orders may take up to a half hour for them to be prepared, but it is well worth the wait. We will be back.
