I've had food from Bangkok Republic for both dine-in and take out. My dine-in experience was pretty good! The food was a bit too salty overall for me and not enough other flavors. However, the staff was always great, and the presentation of the food was also great. Overall, the dine in ambience was great, the food was ok. My take out experience was very disappointing. I've been craving Thai, so my family and I decided to try Bangkok Republic again. However, the food was overall just meh. The pros: the curry noodle soup we ordered was packaged well and tasted decent. The pad thai was standard. The cons: the larb gai was too sweet for what the dish is supposed to be. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. Also, the chicken texture was kind of rubbery. We also ordered the duck curry. It was fine - too salty for me, even with the rice. Also, I could be wrong, but it seems like the portions are even smaller than dine-in, especially the pad thai. Normally, one serving is a bit too much for one person. However, this portion was tiny in comparison to what we were expecting (and especially for the price) and was not filling at all. read more

You know, I wasn't blown away here, but nothing about the meal takes away from a clean, inexpensive option on the Route 7. I tried pad thai, expecting great things, and was not overwhelmed by the flavors. This mild noodle dish is always sweet and light on the tongue. The crunchiness of the peanuts, and chewy chicken breast is something hard to screw up. It was fresh, and well put-together. The dumplings were also good. Crunchy and with a nice dipping sauce, but pretty generic. If nearby and craving Thai, this might be the only option, but at least it's a good one. read more

I stumbled across this humble Thai restaurant after doing a quick yelp search to satisfy a craving for Thai food on a snowy day. It was completely empty but the ambiance was very cozy and lovely. Service was quick and friendly, and the wait staff was attentive, always making sure to fill our water and checking in with us about the food frequently. We ordered a few appetizers to share, including the steamed chicken gyoza, avocados rolls, and blanket shrimp, and the blanket shrimp was by far our favorite item of the entire meal. It's jumbo shrimp wrapped and presented as a crispy egg roll, served with sweet chili dipping sauce. The avocado rolls were fresh and delicious too but the gyoza was just alright. We ordered a few entrees to share as well: shrimp pad Thai (really good), green chicken curry (good flavor), pineapple fried rice (more or less bland--wouldn't order), and a seafood medley dish (good as well). For dessert, we had mango coconut sticky rice and it was unusually salty but beautifully presented. I'd recommend this place for their appetizers and noodles! Service and ambiance was good too so it's worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

My wife, who has traveled extensively in Thailand, and I first visited this cozy spot about a year ago. We were floored by the authenticity of the food and the friendliness of the service. In the following year we have probably eaten here at least 15 more times, and each time has been as enjoyable as first time was. Every dish is superbly prepared. In addition to great food and service, the owners create a low key, relaxing ambiance that is comfortable without being too informal. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. read more

My friend and I found this place and tried it on a whim. I am so glad we did. Phenomenal find. It has wonderful decorations and a general ambiance, and the wait staff is attentive and friendly. Most importantly, the food was phenomenal. The spring rolls were amazing and the pad Thai --- wow!!!!! And of course, we had to try the fried ice cream as well!! It was all excellent. Yet Bangkok Republic is on Danbury Road in Wilton, CT, a quick and easy drive from Westport that brought us to an absolutely delicious, truly immaculate, perfectly genuine Thai restaurant. The owner graciously served us fine, traditional dishes with a charm and warmth that added to the cozy and comfortable atmosphere and fabulous food. We are happy with the appetizers. Money bags was very crunchy and tasty. Sauce was light and flavorful. Entrees were not as good we are afraid. Pad Thai we ordered was underdone and heavily seasoned. We don't know if pad Thai should be gooey , we've been to Thailand and other Asia country, our local Asian restaurants pad Thai are nothing like theirs. Their service was good. The curries are flavorful and taste perfect. The staff has been super nice and friendly every time I've gone in to pick up my order. Bangkok Republic went above and beyond my expectations! Food was phenomenal and the service was impeccable. I am so happy this has come to the Ridgefield/Wilton border. We went here last night for my birthday dinner. It wasn't packed at it was a Sunday evening, but there were quite a few groups in the restaurant for a late Sunday evening meal. After getting our table, we had time to look over the menu and specials. My mom wanted to try a wine, and they brought her over a sample before she ordered. We shared the appetizer sampler on special. It was nice to try a little of the more popular offerings. It came with 3 sauces. I had the Pho (not traditional Thai but I can't help myself!), my mom had the Green Curry. Our other 2 guests enjoyed one of the sautéed dishes and Pad Thai. The food came fresh, hot, and perfectly timed. It wasn't too long but just enough time to enjoy our apps without being bombarded with entrees (a pet peeve on mine). My mom brought some of her curry home but the rest of us ate up. It was the perfect amount. We were offered dessert but declined. None the less, the staff overheard it was my birthday and brought over a chocolate mouse cake and sang with happy birthday. It was a wonderful surprise, and really was the perfect ending to the meal. The decor has a fun, rustic, industrial feel which you wouldn't expect from a Thai restaurant in CT. It retained the same layout as the last New American restaurant that was previously in this location. The bar was very nicely stocked with Asian favorites as well as American classics. Honestly, I am a bit of the wine snob, and they had an excellent selection. So give this place a try. If you want a great place to eat with family/friends that was great food, ambiance and service, come to Bangkok Republic. read more

I found the Pad See-Eaw to be overly salty. The Pad Thai was just okay. I wouldn't get either of these dishes again. However, the Mango Salmon and Chicken with Peanut Sauce were outstanding. The salmon was cooked to perfection. It was glistening even though it was drenched in yellow curry. The curry, which was on the sweet side with the tiniest hint of spice, was outstanding and worked well with the salmon. My husband is rarely in the mood for Thai food, but he LOVES peanut sauce. He had a favorite spot on Canal Street in NYC, which closed, and has been on the hunt for tasty peanut sauce ever since. It's been at least 2 years and he finally found a peanut sauce he likes. Sure, the dishes are hit or miss, but isn't that the case with most restaurants? 5 stars because the dishes that are hits are truly hits. read more

We ate here for the first time last Thursday. $6.00 cocktails on thursdays FYI :) The food was fantastic. The "money bag" dumpling was Delish and I really enjoyed the curry sauces. I will be back. Out of sight...out of mind. No more! A couple of years ago we ate here and were delighted by our meal. But the location is such that it is very easy to drive by without noticing and we don't find ourselves stopping by the center where it's located for other reasons. On a whim this evening while driving south on route 7, and toiling through an argument with our children about where we should go, my wife suggested we stop here to have a provocative difference to what the kids were demanding. Great choice. Every dish was superb. The familiar flavors of great Thai you hope for, but often disappointed with outside of Manhattan, were here in full display. The place is new and very cozy. Anybody would love the interior design of the whole place, it shows both olden and modern design. Let me start in reviewing the appetizers.... Most of the apps that i love are the dumplings, spring roll and the cheesy tarts. Cheesy tart is the app that i would say i would come back for. It looks like a crab rangoon but taste better. The entrees are awesome. I had the pad see aw and the massaman curry. I don't eat curry dishes much but i would definitely go back for the massaman curry. It is tasty and there's a sweetness with the sauce. Lastly, do not forget to order the mango sticky rice and the drinks. Unfortunately, i have only tried the mango tango. If you like mango, you would love this drink. I will be sharing some photos as well. Overall, love this place and definitely would recommend it. read more
