Bangkok street is an ok to start on for someone who wants to have a quick bite and enjoy Thai food. I would say there are better Thai restaurants in and around Cincinnati and you may try them. I visited along with my family for a dinner. Some of the dishes that we ordered were massaman curry, green curry and panang curry, except for massaman curry, which also was on the sweeter side, we did not like the other food as it gave an extra high flavor of I guess bamboo shoots and basil or some combination but at least I was not used to that hence I didn't like it. I would not recommend this unless you're really hungry and craving for Thai food. I personally feel that this restaurant is not value for money especially their prices being on the higher side . I would give this place 10 if I could! My husband and I have celebrated our last three valentines days and anniversaries here, and go on a somewhat regular basis. The food is always delicious and is very consistent, and all desserts are made in house! The rib appetizer and the cheesecake are standouts, though my favorite dessert is the forbidden rice pudding. A solid four stars for Bangkok St! So what if I still long for Mekong with their shrimp rolls and slightly-more-generous portions. Bangkok Street it is! I got the Pad Kee Mao and Green Curry. We love Thai food, my wife cooks Thai food. This is the absolute worst Thai food I have ever eaten. The cheapest ingredients possible and nothing is made with care. We felt sick from the cheap oils. Even the rice was terrible and that's hard to manage. It tasted like old plastic. We went to check out Bangkok Street after exhausting the many places in Hyde Park and Oakley so we ventured on up to Kenwood. The parking lot is a complete nightmare that makes no sense so keep that in mind when you go. Also keep in mind the restaurant itself is very small but makes good use of its limited space. First thing is first: the people who work there are lovely and very efficient and really do a great job! The next thing to know is the food is AMAZING truly just flavorful and fresh and cooked just the way you want it. For appetizers we had toong dhong and kanom jeeb kai, the former was crispy and flavorful and had the best sauce, the latter was just the right chew you want from dumplings with a great ponzu sauce. For dinner we had the mee heang which had these great crispy pork dumplings in it along with some great slices of pork, delicious noodles that weren't too soupy and some toasted peanuts. Also we got the kao kai krob which is basically exactly how you want crispy chicken to taste with one of the best spicy mayo sauces I've ever had. Bangkok Street may be small and can get crowded quick but they really crank the food out fast and it is truly amazing. The food was decent and nothing spectacular, but I had a negative experience with the waitress. It was dinner time and there was only 1 person working as the hostess AND server.. which can be doable, but she got snappy with me when I tried to notify her that we were ready to order after 10 minutes. Our table ordered pad thai, woonsen noodle, and pad see u. They were all decent and will satisfy your palate if you're craving Thai food. Just make sure to order 1 spice level down from your usual, the spice is pretty high! I've had better Thai food at other places, but I did appreciate that they made their ice cream in house.. so that may be worth trying. All flavors were good. Will I come back? I had the woonsen tom yum moo soup. It was very tasty and came out at the right temperature. Also it just looks good the way it is presented with the pork on the top sliced thin. I agree with the others, Mekong Thai was better and the overall experience has gone down significantly. However the Chicken Red Curry was very good, fresh vegetables, and nicely spicy. I did not like the seaweed salad - too many strong off flavors. the beef pho was very much less quality than Mekong's pho, the broth was not properly prepared and that is everything with this Vietnamese staple. Prices seem a bit high compared to other suburban Thai restaurants. Mekong was cozy and comfortable, if dated. I don't like the remodel. The rating is lowered 1-2 stars because of the ambiance. All the booths are gone, has a railroad car design. They went for trendy but it just isn't working. The tables, benches, and seats seemed designed to minimize the amount of time you spend over your meal. It is working too well. This one of (if not the) best Thai spots in Cincinnati. We had the spring roll, Beef Pad Thai and Roasted Duck Curry and they were all fantastic (the Duck Curry was especially great, a must try if you like Thai curry imo). The ambiance is relaxing and intimate in the best way, and the customer service was personal without hovering. I have only done carry out and their Pad Thai is good, but I have to say the Panang Curry did not even remotely resemble Panang Curry. It was an insanely small portion for $11, and mostly tasted like greasy chicken. There was no flavor of curry or coconut. So if you are looking to get a somewhat mediocre stir fry dish, try the Panang Curry, but if you want Panang Curry, do not get this. I will say when I called to complain the owner was ultimately accommodating, providing me with a credit for the next time we order. Tonight was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I did takeout due to the pandemic. I will note that I'm an avid Thai food eater and especially enjoy the drunken noodle dish. So of course I order the drunken noodles. Highly disappointed with the outcome, I'm not sure if it was because I was a first time buyer, but whatever the case was the dish was very unpleasant. The noodles were extremely over cooked to the point it looked like mush. In fact I had to eat around the noodles because it was so unpleasant. Additionally and strangely this dish did not have the drunken noodle taste nor spice that most drunken noodles dishes do- you know that distinctive/ necessary ingredient that adds spice to the dish (red chili sauce?) . The green peppers and broccoli in this dish were also over cooked which killed all the nutrients from the vegetables. Over all just highly disappointed especially after reading the reviews which initially drew me to this place. I was seriously craving some Thai and not much is open on a Sunday. The reviews on here are mixed, so I was a little unsure at first. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The first few times I called it rang and went to voicemail. I was feeling a little frustrated, but the craving was strong. The woman who took my order was friendly, and correctly read my order back to me. It was ready for me to pick up within 15 mins. I ordered the Pad See Ew at a level 1 and an order of spring rolls. Some of the reviews note that they are heavy handed with spice. This is no joke. My level 1 was much spicier than I expected. It was still tolerable, but I would not normally get it that spicy. The flavor outside of the spice was very good and I really enjoyed it. The spring roll was just okay, but the sauce was very good. My husband and I love Thai food and have tried quite a few restaurants in Cincinnati since we moved here in July.. but Bangkok street's food wins hands down for us and we have been returning to this place every 10-14 days ( which is vey frequent since we don't eat out often). Love their pad Thai and all the curries are really delicious! My favorite is their red chicken curry ( spice level 3.5 on a scale of 1-6. 4 is too much for me!).
