Bang towed our vintage 34' trailer from Long Island 2 hours upstate. Not only did the driver get our trailer here safe and sound, maneuvering the trailer down some windy roads and into a tight spot, but the driver helped us position the trailer to the exact right position and helped us level it as well. I have never written a review on Yelp before, but I just needed to write this one. My car would not start at all and so through Geico Roadside Assistance, Bang's Towing was dispatched. I have seen these trucks on the road all the time and always thought it was a catchy name. Bang's Towing is soooo much more than that! Alfredo was the person dispatched to tow my car. GPS brought him to a totally wrong location (same street # but not where I was). He promptly proceeded to my correct location and arrived pleasant and cheerful. He first took a look at my battery and noticed that I was most likely in need of a new one. He was able to jump start it and then when I asked if I could just drive it next door to the service station, he advised me not to as he noticed some shaking in the car. He promptly towed the car next door and he was on his way. ALFREDO is an exemplary example of wonderful customer service. He is clearly someone who takes pride in his job (not an easy one) and is a top notch glowing representation of Bang's Towing. Nobody ever wants to have to be towed, but if they had to and could choose a company to do it, I would HIGHLY recommend Bang's Towing and Alfredo! read more

Saturday September 21st at approximately 10pm one of three cars traveling Eastbound had a vehicle malfunction on the Southern State Parkway just passed Route 110 at exit 32. I called my insurance company who routed me to the deemed responsive tow company, Bang's Towing (67 Albany Ave in Amityville). 631-842-2922 calls and informs me that a truck will arrive in an hour. $125 flat rate plus $8 a mile to my home. A second number calls about my location 516-324-5400. (Wantangh NY caller id) As the truck arrived and approached us, we are on the telephone with our AAA representative who is checking to see if we have any other tow options within our Gold membership. After informing him, the driver's first statement to us was "I own this highway. No one else can tow." We explained that we would ultimately be towed if his statement was true. And we asked what did he mean by his statement. He then states "My company owns the highway". We politely explained that we were not negating the tow and we were simply exploring a free option versus the cost of his tow. He lit a cigarette and stood at our side until we completed the call. Literally. Once we got advice from AAA, we were able to follow. We then turned the key & the vehicle started up. While the car was running, we thanked the driver for responding and told him we were leaving. Because we were so excited to have successfully started up, we didn't realize the driver's true intention on walking away. He got into the flatbed and reversed which blocked one vehicle from driving into the parkway. Furthermore, the driver then stood in front of the vehicle, pulled his cell phone out and in a very unprofessional & disrespectful tone stating the following: -"This is my tow and this car is not going to drive away. " -"This car must get towed to leave this location. " -"You are going to have to run me over to drive away. " -"You are not leaving. " I got into the car. Because the vehicle was a small Mercedes, I was able to drive through a slim area between the highway greenway brush and around the massive flatbed truck onto the highway. The other two vehicles pulled off avoiding to hit your driver onto the highway. We all arrived home safely. The driver's combative behavior was to hold us against our will. His action of both maneuvering an oversized flatbed truck and also standing in the the path of my vehicle blocking our access to leave the location is not lawful and exemplifies danger. Furthermore, to close and deny my access onto a 55 mile an hour parkway is not safe in anyway. While I am happy we were a family of three vehicles traveling including children ranging from five years old to ten years old, I wonder if my fiancée, our oldest children or anyone was there last night, trapped by this driver of yours? While responding to an a emergency, your driver was rude, combative and he created a potentially more dangerous situation to citizen who is stranded. Not to mention your paying customers. Your mission statement mentions the total opposite and worse then any patron can ever imagine. Our experience was not comforting, not helpful as you have written. While I am not in the towing industry, I recommend: -Your driver needs to be documented on poor service. He endangered himself as well as others. -Interacting with people. He represents you as a contracted employee. His actions are on behalf of Bangs Towing. If not, change your verbiage because I was NOT "treated courteously", my experience seems you the total opposite of "the best towing experience" and you cannot be the "most respected" if you do not value your service to people. It's not always about money. It's a bout a successful business to maintain & grow. Unless you exist for a few dollars and a few days rather then a secure financial future, your driver putting my family and I at risk last night was scary and real dangerous. I am taking steps in course of action to share my experience to others because this was completely out of order. Please take the time to investigate and review within your company for your own success. This is an unacceptable experience for an emergency side of the highway tow call and it was not a repossession as I see you are also in business to do. I was in my M3 convertible, wiped out because it was raining... I called bangs towing on Albany. Without me requesting, they sent me a flatbed knowing what was required for my high-performance vehicle. Kristina, The dispatcher, was very cordial personable and professional. She was in communication with me letting me know each step of The way, the status of my tow. Christina, informed me that she has the best driver, Frank on his route to me. Let me tell you guys, I've had my car towed a handful of times... This is by far, is the best experience hands down between the dispatch to when he backed my car into my garage with absolute certainty. Hats down to the crew at bang's towing in Amityville. I want to give a lot of gratitude and appreciation to Kristina, the dispatcher who orchestrated with precision the entire operation. And then, Frank, wow! STAY AWAY but unfortunately you may not have a choice since if your car needs towing from a state parkway the state police call them first obviously Bangs has treated the state police well. This explains why you as the owner of the car who ultimately pays the towing ($600 in my case) is treated like dirt by their office people. I walked in to a women behind the counter screaming at a customer. If your dealing with a situation where a loved one was in a horrible accident (like me) dealing with this is emotional. The ownership should take a close look at each employee, not all are rude I am sure, but at the very least that one employee needs sensitivity training or if it was me fired immediately at the next outburst. I have never received such terrible service before. After getting a flat I called my insurance roadside assistance and was given over to bangs who originally gave me an hour wait time. Aw I had to get back to school I told them to move the appointment to a different time later in the evening. Long story short they arrived half hour passed scheduled time which would have not been a big deal but the technician who came was by and far the rudest person I have ever encountered. Patronizing and rude because I had the incorrect rim lock key (as if I made the mistake on purpose). No other words to describe it. By and far I'm blown away with how I was treated. I came to on the Southern State Parkway laying on a stretcher with a neck brace. Confused, I looked over and saw my smashed up car. That was the last I saw of it or even cared at that moment as I was being driven in an ambulance to the hospital. One week later, I went to Bangs Towing to pick up my personal items from my car. The owner told me he was going to handle everything including contacting my insurance. It was one less thing for me to worry about in this life changing accident. Honestly, I couldn't bring myself to deal with the car issues since my health was top priority. I never called to check on the car or the status of my insurance. The owner called me to inform me that he contacted the insurance and they agreed to pay for it to be fixed. Bangs Towing said they would get to work on repairing the damages to the car. Again, I never reached out to find out about the car after that due to other pressing issues. Then the city, the state was all shut down due to the Covid19. 2 weeks after Bangs Towing had last spoken to me, he called me again to inform me that my car was ready and available for pickup. Their repair shop is in Suffolk; I live in Queens. Since I had no way of getting out there they told me not to worry. They put the car on a bed and drove it to my house, parked it in the driveway and handed me the keys. Honestly, I've never experienced such incredible service from any type of business. In such trying times, I had one less thing to worry about after my car accident. I literally did not have to do anything. They took care of Everything to do with my car. They are AMAZING!!!!! And believe me - I don't say that lightly. So I HIGHLY recommend them. And I'm very grateful that they were the ones who got the call to pick my car up after my accident. read more

This is long overdue. I should have written this over a month ago. I was driving a loaner car from Southampton BMW, a brand new BMW convertible with 297 miles on it when something happened with my left tire. I called BMW Road Service and Bang's Towing returned my call. Mike (who I chose to call Archangel Michael) said he was coming to pick me up and that I needed to have a credit card handy to pay for the towing. I got very upset because I wanted Southampton BMW to pay for the new tire and the towing. I got snippy because I did not realize that I was very frightened. This had never happened to me before. Mike was very kind and he never lost his cool with me. He had done this many times before so he knew my situation. He calmed me down just by his demeanor. Mike put my car in tow and I climbed into the cab. It was HUGE. What I did not know was Mike put the tire in the trunk that blew off. We go to a tire place and the guy took one look at the tire and said that he is not touching the car. So we got into the truck and drove all the way back to Southampton BMW. The guy that gave me the loaner did not ask me if I was all right but he wanted to know why I did not get a new tire for the car. I told him because "They would not touch the car." When I went over to look at the tire that blew off on the left driver's side, there was no tire at all. The tire blew off in one whole piece. A mechanic at BMW said, "That ain't from a pothole!" Everyone knew it was a defective tire. I could have been in a very serious accident injuring myself and others maybe fatally. I do not think they were going to give me a hard time once Mike took the tire out of the trunk. Plus they were not going to give me a hard time because Mike was a big muscular guy who saw what the car looked like when he came and got me. Southampton BMW paid for everything right on the spot. I was so grateful to Mike that I thanked him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He saved the day! I will never use Southampton BMW ever again but I wil absolutely use Bang's Towing again. was involved in a car wreck last night and they came to pick up my vehicle I was told I would be able to get my belongings that were left in the vehicle the next day. so after getting out the hospital I stop by the yard since I live far , and I was told that I could not get my belongings out would have to wait until tomorrow, when all she had to do was open the gate and watch me grab my belongings which I really needed . So now I need to take another hour and 10 minute trip to do something that could have been done there. giving one star because I cant give 0. read more

So thankful for Bang's towing today! I got stuck in the crazy snow storm and while every other towing company I called had a three hour+ wait time, Bang's sent a truck to me in less than 20 minutes. The driver that towed me home and stopped and asked two or three other people that were stranded next to me if they wanted him to come back for them. Amazing customer service and I owe the driver they sent my sanity. I'd give 5 stars but the dispatcher was beyond rude to me. I'm Writing this later than I wanted to do to the recent events. But I want to give a glowing review to bang's towing and auto body shop for work they did for me back at the end of January. I was in a three car accident and my car is with one of the ones towed way to Bangs. The shop did a beautiful job on my car. it looks better than when I bought it a year earlier and it runs better than it did when I bought it. The service staff was incredible. Chris handled the job and he was always on the phone with me always connecting with me and letting me know the status. He actually had the car brought to my house in Lynbrook from the Amityville shop by a company truck. I have never heard of an auto body company doing anything like that before when I've asked all of my friends.I was astounded the gentleman dropping off the car was wiping it down and it was gleaming and he was the most pleasant person in the world. I would definitely go back to the shop. I am telling all my friends about the terrific customer service by Everyone I dealt with. They made what was a very difficult situation So much better. I never could have imagined what a very good experience this was with Bangs. I had never heard of them before and had no clue what to expect. I would highly recommend them read more

I was broken down on the side of the highway and needed a tow -- nobody could figure out what "jurisdiction" I was win, which is fair enough, but each of the other four companies I spoke with was professional, polite, and did their best to help me. Not Bang's -- they were rude, uninformed (asking me whether I was going "east or west" on the Cross Island -- it runs north/south), and dishonest, referring me to another service further out in Suffolk which they obviously knew was wrong, just to get rid of me. ...was involved in an accident on Ocean Parkway near Jones Beach N.Y. Bang's shows up and begins to tell me he will tow my car to Amityville and not my designated repair shop in Oceanside. The driver a fellow named Tim was arrogant and refused my request. When you are on the Parkways on Long Island you are a captive audience only a few companies are licensed to tow on the parkways. Even then they are supposed to tow you where you want. The rates are astronomical $225 for the hook up and tow, $8.50 / mile over 3 miles. The storage is not specified.I am in the process of contacting DOT and other state agencies to file a formal complaint. These guys are also known for insisting that the owner goes to their shop to sign a release to allow you to remove your vehicle from their premises all the while storage keeps accruing. Bottom line if you get in an accident on the parkways get your vehicle off the parkway at the next exit. The resulting tow will be less than half what they guys charge. read more

Geico uses this company for emergency towing etc.. Well my husband needed help changing the tire on my car (the jack slid out and the car wound up on the ground.. So he needed another person to help him) Well this guy (didn't get his name) was cocky on the phone to begin with, and when he showed up to where my husband was, he greeted him with 'if you don't know what you're doing, you shouldn't try to do it'.. Not a good way to greet a customer, if you ask me. Or how to speak to a man that's been changing tires for years. It continued and my husband had to basically tell him to just change the tire and do what he was there to do. There went his tip! Needless to say, I will decline the next time Geico attempts to use Bang's Towing. read more

It is always very hard to know who to trust, especially these days. After the experience I had with Bang's Towing, I can say my trust in people has been more reaffirmed. I had an unfortunate accident which is quite always a stressful event. From the moment I met Bang's tow driver Luis, I felt more at ease. He was so professional, efficient and friendly. I had to drive back with him to the shop with my car in tow. We had such a nice conversation and he was definitely able to make me feel better about what had just occurred. When I got to the shop, I was introduced by Luis to, I can assume is one of the shop managers or owners, Chris. I have to make it a point to find out which title he holds. Chris continued to take my stress level down. He was patient with me and made it a point to explain the whole process in getting my car repaired. I didn't know that this shop was a repair shop and I didn't know of any that I was going to take my car to. I just figured insurance would recommend one. Chris didn't pressure me into using them, but did explain some important things to consider if I let the insurance pick the shop. After hearing this and not knowing any shop personally, I decided to give the job to Chris and his shop. Chris again walked me through the whole process of what they would be doing and gave me his personal cell number so that I could reach out to him for updates on the repairs. Chris also recommended someone at a local Enterprise to help me with the rental car. Chris kept me up to date with the status during the whole repair process and it took about 12 days for the car to be completed. When it was time to pick up my car, Chris told me to just come directly to the shop and he would take care of getting the rental car returned to Enterprise. Of course, another nice gesture. When I finally got to see my car, I literally couldn't believe my eyes. The car looked brand new. It was raining that day and Chris kept it inside so I could see it clearly without being covered by the rain. He told me he only used OEM parts for all the repairs and made sure all the paint lined up. They also did a full detail inside the car, an alignment and gave me an oil change. The car truly looked amazing. I expressed my sincere gratitude to Chris and his shop for what they had done. Their work on my car was second to none. I could see how important it was to Chris to take care of his customers. I had such a positive experience with Bang's and all their people. They made such a challenging situation as easy going and stress free as I have ever had. I hope no one ever has to find themselves in that stressful position of being in an accident. If you do, it's nice to know that their are people out there like those that are a part of Bang's to help you through it and make you whole again. I was very unhappy with this place. I needed a tire changed and waited for an hour which is normal. Five minutes after they were supposed to arrive I called the company to find out that the driver that was supposed to be helping me was diverted to an emergency. I am glad that places like this take emergencies as priorities, but to not notify the original customer who has been waiting is a serious disservice. This place lacks customer consideration and I would not recommend it in the least. read more

Not sure who I spoke with when I called this morning (8/3/2016) but he mentioned he was the "DAY TIME SUPERVISOR" His service was horrible. I asked simple questions, and it came off as where he woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. I guess these guys like who they like. im registered dealer got into small accident in the southern state parkway no other cars involved just me google search a towing company since im not from the area the tow guy come load my car into the truck then takes out his cellphone gets away from me so i dont here what he is talking about then comes back and tell me we gotta wait for the cops after two and a half hours the cop gets there impounds my car and give me a ticket for no registration remember i am a dealer with valid dealer plates also two more tickets for unsafe driving. this towing company has funny business going on i dont understand why the tow guy call the cop. so he can make his night giving tickets?? also the tow guy and the cop had close relationship because they were talking about their wife and kids i would never never recommend this towing company or body shop service there is a reason why ralley auto collision shop one of the best body shops in ny dont like this people even dealing with them is problem read more

Wife's car broke down on the HWY and needed a tow, they were the ones who had coverage for the area. Everything seemed to be fine, and my wife said the gentleman was very nice and friendly and prompt in his arrival. That leads me to the aftermath - Minus 5 stars - They damaged my car while towing it, roughly $1200 suspension damage. Plus 4 stars - Fixed it promptly with OEM parts, was courteous on the phone, and overall a pleasure to work with. If it was not for having to take the time out to coordinate the repairs, and have to work without a car for a few days, would be five stars! Rarely these days do you see a company who puts the customer first, and does right by them. Kudos. read more

I really can not believe Bangs. Not only was our tow driver really late, he also lied about how long he was there. He failed to mention how he drove my car, instead he charged us for 1 hour of winching. He wasnt even there 40 minutes. I was in a bad place this morning, I was stuck on the beach and didnt have the cash. He told me to call my mom or dad? I'm 37 years old. Instead he decided to take my liscence and would not give it back. He was yelling when I asked him a question. Office lady is rude as well. I'm in complete disbelief as to how they handled my call for help this morning. It's amazing how people try to take advantage. 350$ an hour? That's crazy. Even more crazy that he was sitting there texting instead of running my credit card. This has turned into a vent. You just cant treat people like he treated us. I had gotten stuck with a flat tire, saturday night well after 830pm on the wantagh parkway,(and mind you i had done everything that had to be done, jacked up car for the tire to come off, took lug nuts off and the tire was still not coming loose or off at all) I called up AAA and they could not come onto parkway so your company came to where i had gotten stuck, I had two different groups of cops stop by to see if everything was ok and see if i needed a tow or anything and hoping they had called and not AAA calling your company. Anyway when your driver John arrived he was a complete and utter jerk he gave me the most nastiest attude and said i didnt know what i was doing ,when i did, and to the fact that the cops called him and and said they were tired of having me sit there from 4pm and on, and that was not true it was a false statement i was at a family party then, and that he claims he past by 35 times after making 35 calls, that was also not true i never seen a tow company pass by from the time i had gotten the flat to the time he arrived. He had charged me $70.61 just to nock the tire off and put my donut tire on i think that was crazy, i will never use you company again and will not recommend your company to anyone else, poor customer service. read more

What a bunch of theives. My car got towed to their facility (I was not given an option) and I was told I could pick up my car before 5 PM. When I got there at 11 AM they were closed because it was Sunday and when I called the number no one could do anything to help me. My wife picked up the car this morning and was charged $320 for what should have been a $175 bill, at best. When I called to ask questions about the bill I was spoken to so rudely I couldn't believe it. I would rather set my car on fire than have these clowns involved in any way.
