Love this sandwich. Bread is very fresh and flavors are outstanding. Highly recommend. Sandwich is $11 and very worth it. Staff is great and kind. No seating inside.

    The classic bang mi

OMG this is the best banh mi I've ever had, but to be fair I'm not a connoisseur. However I know great flavor profiles and this sandwich really nails it! I tried the regular classic banh mi and it had the right balance of ingredients. I'll be back to try other banh mi, or the pho, or anything really!

Solid Take out only Bahn Mi spot. Friendly and fast service. Tasted fresh- bread was crunchy, there was a good umami flavor of creamy sauce, and crunchiness of vegetables. Fair amount of meat. Inside is clean and has a few seats to wait for your food. No indoor seating to eat your order and there is only street parking.

    Banh mi cha lua
    Mary N.

Ordered a banh mi with cha lua only. Really enjoyed it! There were plenty of veggies included. We also shared a green Thai iced tea, which was very refreshing. It had more of a vanilla taste than the usual orange Thai iced tea. There's not a lot of seating (just a few outdoor seats) so it's probably better as a takeout place.

Such a quick spot for a Banh mi for lunch, I've had seen my friends eat here and wanted to give it a shot. I got the cold cut Banh mi and it was delicious.

On trend for us- scarfed down half our food before getting a picture of the lemongrass chicken banh mi

Food: Lemongrass chicken banh mi, BBQ pork banh mi and shrimp summer rolls. We had wanted the lemon grass beef banh mi but, unfortunately, the person in front of us got the last one. The lemongrass chicken turned out to be juicy and flavorful. The bread had a perfect bahn mi texture and the jalapenos, pickled diakon and carrots and mayo were well balanced to get a sweet, savory and spicy mix. Great portions for the price. We did take out but service was prompt and friendly.

We've been here quite a few times since covid hit and it's never disappointed! It's always quick, affordable, and so unbelievably good. It's a grab and go but there are some benches inside and the women who work there are always super nice. The sandwich is on the perfect bread that's hard without cutting your mouth, the meat is perfectly cooked and it's always just juicy. Love love this place - def try it if you are anywhere close!

Excellent vegan bahn mi at this hole in the wall shop. One woman was working and she was busting her but because it was busy! Vegan bahn mi was delicious with fried tofu with a glaze, vegan mayo, jalapenos, pickled daikon and carrots. Their vegan Thai ice tea was awesome, too

I want to give this a perfect five because this is certainly the best bahn mi I've had since moving to Maine (so far). It's not the *best* I've had in the country, but it ranks up there. The bread is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The BBQ meat was on the slightly sweet side for my taste, but still very good flavor. I wish there was a bit more cilantro. The shop is small and though there appear to be some single barstool seats near the window, they also post a sign that discourages dining in. There were some seats/tables outdoors as well so maybe they are changing their tune as covid "goes away" (haha). It also serves as almost a convenience store, with certain essentials like some instant noodles, hoisin sauce, Sriracha, etc. 15 minute street parking. It seemed plentiful, but could be luck of the draw. I suggest calling in ahead of time. I did so, but still waited another three minutes... they make it fresh, that's why!! The staff was very friendly. Undoubtedly I will come back for another sandwich when the craving creeps up on me.

Sooo... I was on my way to get Duck Fat fries and this place caught my attention. Being a hole in the wall type of Asian place, I figured this would be some hyped up place. The staff were extremely nice, but the sandwich was very meh. I love Vietnamese food but the bread / chicken was very meh and I don't think I'd come back bc I've had better. It was also a bit of a wait, but there were lots of young ppl waiting for their food outside so it was nice chatting to them while waiting.

There's no seating indoors but there's a few tables outside. I ordered a lemongrass chicken bahn mi for $10. They originally said it'd be 15 minutes for my order to be ready, but it ended up coming out fairly quickly. The flavors were phenomenal and the baguette was very soft. It was a delicious bahn mi and the value is fantastic. I would 10/10 recommend Bahn Appetit if you're looking for a cheap and quick meal in Portland.

She's was very accommodating with my deconstructed requests for both Sandwiches. An A+ employee. My Market sandwich (eggplant) was just okay. The bread was for a better word "stale" I could hardly bite into it. The same was true of the turkey ceasar hoagie. However the turkey was very good. I'm going to have to think hard if I ever want to try another hoagie from Ramona's. Urg. I was excited to try this place but the egg sandwich I got (the Ramona with broccoli rabe,…read morebacon, American cheese) fell short. The roll was ever so slightly stale and the broccoli rabe had chili in it (so even though I asked for chili on the side it's still in the vegetable part). I also have a total pet peeve about American cheese. In this instance, it just made the sandwich have a gluey internal texture. I often find it is gourmet places trying to be trendy that use American cheese as though they are able to rebrand it. Sharp American or not, the cheese would have been way better in my opinion had it been cheddar or Swiss or really anything. To be fair, the bacon was well-cooked and the eggs were nicely scrambled. Although the sandwich idea is original (broccoli rabe on a breakfast sandwich), I found the flavors just didn't come together. For what it's worth, service was friendly and efficient. Moreover, like a few other places on the East End, I find this place is just sort of too curated, overly self-conscious, and trying too hard to be trendy. I would take a straightforward breakfast sandwich over one that comes with a side of merch and a Brooklyn-hipster-like environment any day.

So, we decided to sneak over here after a busy morning at the lighthouse with our toddler for a nice, filling lunch before a later flight home. We must've gotten lucky on a Sunday bc our wait for three people was about 15-20 minutes quoted and we spent 10 minutes walking the block to entertain our toddler, came back to check-in and our table was ready! yay! We had a great table in the corner by the window which was excellent with our toddler. Our server, Brian, was wonderful and super friendly. Menu isn't huge but, has enough stuff that should be able to please most. We chose a small fry with the daily dip which was almost like a mayo-based honey mustard dijon and was delicious, with ketchup and vinegar for dipping. Fries were crispy and delicious. We got the green salad and the Cuban to split and loved both. The sandwich was delicious and the green salad was light and refreshing with some really yummy herbs on top to include fennel which isn't usually on a salad but I loved the taste for this one, worked perfectly with the dressing. My husband ordered their house-made cherry soda and let me tell you, best cherry soda of my life! We ordered two bc I drank about half of it. They have a charming outdoor patio area with about 3-4 other tables. Charming spot - def. recommend! Wait can get super long - by the time we left they were quoting over an hour for a table since it's smaller inside and large parties can take up almost all the spaces.

There were three of us who stopped in before heading to a concert in town. It was my boyfriend's friend who had suggested Duckfat, saying that he's been before and really likes it. It was about 6pm on a Monday night and the place was just about to capacity. We ended up waiting a few minutes and got sat at a communal table. The space looks nice, but it's definitely a bit cramped. I ordered the salted caramel milkshake and the poutine topped with a duck egg. The shake was absolutely delicious, very rich and creamy and I loved the taste of the caramel. I was very excited to try the poutine since it's the dish they're known for. The fries themselves were definitely good and I enjoyed the gravy. I wished the cheese curds were more melted and the egg yolk a little bit more runny. But the biggest thing for me is that the dish was way too salty. The people seemed friendly enough and everything came out relatively quick, but the experience felt very rushed. They very hastily dropped the check at the table before we could ask for an order of the doughnuts for dessert. That might've been for the best though, because upon looking at the check I realized how expensive it was. Duckfat wasn't by any means a bad experience. But I also didn't find it to be a particularly memorable one. With how much people hype it up, it pains me to say that I might've gotten my hopes up a little too high only to fall slightly short of the mark.

Mike is always happy to help me pick out a bottle of wine which is much appreciated, along with stocking up on a few extra bottles of Havana Club rum when I've asked. But most importantly, their pizza is just so perfect, to me at least. All their toppings are great, but you really can't beat their good ol' cheese/pepperoni pie. It's simple, yet complex, amazing sauce, perfect dough, it's homemade and genuine, at a price that's more than appropriate. I'm always happy when I order a large half pep/half cheese "for the kids" Their take home meals are also excellent, their pot pies are top tier, St. Patrick's Day corned beef dinner is a must, I don't bother making my own anymore. The pesto tortellini is another banger. The pot roast slaps as well. There are a few I'm forgetting but you really can't go wrong. I'm not a big Italian sandwhich guy, but everyone I know loves them, and to my eye, they look wayyyy better than any of the alternatives around town. I'd highly recommend, it's a family owned business that's been here for over half a century. The crust was delicious, from what I read, this is a sourdough crust. Definitely had some good character and flavor to it.. I got this heated before eating it. The vegan special - obviously I'm not vegan, but that pizza looked phenomenal. Had to try it. This one did not get heated up as it was suggested to leave it cold (logical considering it basically has a salad on top). I don't know what the vegan cheese was but it tasted like a whipped ricotta/goat cheese would. The fresh tomato, pickled peppers and red onion all played perfectly together. I'd certainly go back here. A little on the pricey side but I think it rang in around $18 on these 2 slices (yes, pictured is considered a slice of each) I was plenty satisfied.
