New owners! We've been here several times prior with the previous owners and were so excited to check them out again under new ownership! So glad that we did. We went on a Saturday night and it was fairly busy. The woman who owns and runs it was so sweet & really worked hard serving several tables, assisting her husband who prepares all the food fresh and to order. We also met her husband who was equally so nice. The food - AMAZING! Awesome vegan options! Everything was fresh and piping hot. The flavors were incredible. They have several condiments on the table if needed. We can't wait to go back! Support this local business and remember that they're new owners and working out the quirks. Service may be slower due to that but it's sooo worth the wait!

They had me at Strawberry Matcha!! But, the food was just as delicious and so fresh. Our service was impeccable and the quaint one room restaurant with fresh flowers on the table was lovely.

We went for lunch on a Monday when many restaurants are closed, and I'm so glad we did! It was a cold and cloudy day and I was craving a big hot steamy bowl of pho, and I happened to be in the Westbrook area, and Bamboo Bistro was open so why not try it. The service was efficient and friendly. The food was very fresh and steaming hot when it arrived at our table. My friend got the lo mein noodles with chicken and veggies, and I got the beef pho with rare steak. The lo mein was beautiful...the veggie colors were so bright...maybe because it was a dark cloudy day the veggies colors stood out so vibrantly...not sure, but check out the picture...the plate of noodles and veggies is beautiful. The pho came with the usual accompaniments of fresh herbs, lime, jalapeño, and bean sprouts. The broth was very flavorful, the noodles were plentiful, and the bowl the large! I ate all the noodles but couldn't finish the broth...it was just too much. I also did t eat all the steak...it was a little tough...could have been shaved thinner and been more tender. Despite the steak it being perfect, I really enjoyed the pho...it scratched the pho craving perfectly. The decor in the restaurant is simple, big windows make the place nice and bright. There was country music playing which didn't exactly fit the ambiance, but I didn't mind it. I will definitely go back.

Vegan pad Thai with tofu and veggies!

Thank you! I've been looking for a place that can satisfy my Pad Thai craving; this is the place! Pad Thai is the dish I've missed the most since going vegan. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now; so happy I finally did! I had the vegan tofu Pad Thai, vegetable Pad Thai, drunken noodles, and veggie rolls still need to try the dumplings, BBQ chicken and more! They cater to everyone and have a vegan menu with a good amount of options, wonderful and knowledgeable employees and delicious food! Everything I've had has been delicious!!! I'm so happy this place exists! Also note the appearance of the vegan Pad Thai is different (classic presentation) before I mixed it together and ate some, also the vegan drunken noodles filled the entire container before I ate some, I couldn't wait! New favorite Thai restaurant! I will be back soon :))

I've only eaten here once. It was takeout the day of the wind storm that took out so many people's power for days on end. The 1 star is related to my EXPLICIT allergy statement about NO MUSHROOMS, which was repeated back to me as understood; only to find mushroom THROUGHOUT my dish! If you make it clear you heard and understood my allergy concerns and request, then blatantly ignore or disregard them, placing my well being at stake, you get no further chances from me.

We stopped here for dinner during our Portland trip, and my husband and I ordered a bunch of dishes to share so we could try as much as possible. First of Lobster Rangoons I mean how do you not. Portland Maine being Lobster Paradise this just makes sense and is a must try staple here. Just takes your normal Chinese Crab Rangoon to the next level. The Char Siu Baos where the best BBQ Pork Bun I have ever had. I know these can be hit or miss sometimes but Empire it doing it right truly the best I have had. The Pork Potsticks were also great. A top 3 dumpling I have had. I honestly wasn't expecting much but these were amazing. The Curry Udon was kind of a funny story. I said we should try this and my friends like me know it was vegan but for once that didn't bother me. This was great and so full of flavor. Plus you can't go wrong with Udon. Kung Pao Chicken is always my go to and this one takes the cake. The Chicken is lighty battered and so full of flavor. One of the best I have ever had. First thing to note is that the menu seems to have changed substantially, offering more Thai-adjacent and pan-Asian food than authentically Thai food. I ordered their coconut soup (Tom Kha; $10) to start and a local mushroom bowl as my main--both vegan by default. It took a while for the food to come out--maybe 20 mins for the soup and another 15 for the main. The soup was nicely seasoned, maybe being a bit too thick, and not allowing the galangal/lime leaf to breathe as much as it should. But I liked how it came with red pepper, tomato, mushroom and tofu. The main was not really Thai at all, coming with a rather stingy portion of tempeh, two kinds of mushrooms, red pepper, Lima beans, and microgreens. Reasonably seasoned but just not that interesting. Overall, disappointing relative to my previous experience, but still pretty good.

Yep, that's the exact vibe (wouldn't compare it to a tavern though; it's much more trendy than that word implies. Also - the music here is distractingly good, so keep an ear out). It was easy to make a reservation online (I *strongly* suggest you do because it's a VERY tiny place; just know, they have a $15 charge per head if you cancel last minute); it's also nice to see more places in Portland that take reservations, y'know? + Our server was INCREDIBLE. He was friendly, unbelievably patient, read cues so well (we were old friends catching up, and he gave us all the space in the world to do so), was funny, and was so well informed about the menu. We had questions about the vegan options, and he had answers/made great recommendations. + The cocktails are really nice; the most photographed one, Lost In Thailand (rum, coconut rum, coconut water, Thai basil, lemongrass, Thai chili), wasn't for me. I'm just not a spicy drink lover, but the Gimlet Highball (gin, lemon, soda) was perfectly refreshing. + I think the menu changes relatively often, so be sure to check their website for the most current options. Things are clearly labeled vegan and/or gluten-free; if you don't mind things being fried together, the Marinated Tofu (fried tofu, radish, edamame, and citrus soy) is a fan favorite we were told. We tried the (vegan) Stir Fried Green Beans (confit garlic, chili sauce, sesame); good for the table to share, but they were much more crunchy/undercooked than I was expecting or would have liked. I wouldn't get them again. But the (vegan) Creamy Chili Noodles?! SUCH A DELICIOUS BOWL OF FOOD. Cucumber, wood ear and shiitake mushrooms, cilantro, peanut sauce, fried red onion, chili crisp. It was hearty, it was flavorful, I think it started off warm but it was one of those dishes that as it cooled... it was just as good (if not better). Absolutely worth coming out of your way for, vegan friends!
