One of the best Banh Mi sandwich shops! This spot offers so many additional offerings from sandwiches, to pre packaged boxes, drinks, to deliciously fried goodies. You will leave with a bag full and belly full! It's a casual grab and go spot. The associates are really friendly and make the sandwiches right in front of you. The bread is airy on the inside and toasted on the outside. I love the different sauces that they add to the sandwich to make it even more flavorful. They have many different filling options from cold cut, to beef, pork, and chicken. And Beef is my favorite! Plus a side of fried egg rolls. I came about an hour before the shop closed. They offer a sale on the prepackaged food: buy 2 get 1 free. There are tables inside the Kam Man super market to eat your goodies or you can shop around with sandwich in hand. The BBQ banh mi is ALWAYS A MUST! Banh Mi Ba Le is a Vietnamese bakery specializing in banh mi, savory dishes and desserts. This location, tucked inside Kam Man Foods, is perfect for quick lunches and stocking up on meals for the week. I used to go to the Boston location (Ba Le Restaurant), but the Quincy spot ended up being more convenient. One thing I have to say about both locations is that the sandwiches are always consistent when it comes to meat and fillings. I love the dac biet banh mi (special/combination) and thit nuong (available in beef or pork) banh mi. The specialty is a classic, made with cold cuts, pâté, mayo, pickled veggies, fresh herbs, and crispy baguette. My all-time favorite is their thit nuong banh mi with beef - super packed with flavor! It comes with similar fixings, but the spicy-sweet sauce drizzled in between is chef's kiss! I always go home with a half dozen sandwiches because they're just that good! I've yet to try more plates, but I recently had the sugarcane juice - super refreshing and even better with extra ice! I normally go to the Dorchester location but I did not want to go through rush hour traffic to get a banh mi this morning. Growing up, my parents would always get me a banh mi from here before grocery shopping and over the years, I still get a sandwich from here every once in a while. I do enjoy the quality of food more from the Dorchester Ba Le but the banh mi from here is not half bad. The baguette does seem to always be super soggy instantly, especially the bottom, which I just skip eating. The sugar cane was good today though, I have to admit. I basically eat here on a weekly basis lol. I've been maybe 20 times over the years, but finally reviewing now! Average rating came out to a 4.4, but rounding up to a 5. This time, my partner and I ordered BBQ beef and tofu banh mi's - TASTE: 5/5 - these flavors never get old for me. I like to pair the lighter taste of tofu with the perfectly complementary flavors of pickled daikon, cilantro, spicy jalapeños, homemade mayo, and savory fish sauce. Chef's kiss! The BBQ beef is perfectly balanced, and tied with tofu for my favorite TEXTURE: 4/5 - the crunch of the baguette, along w the freshness of the veggies is too good. I could've sworn Ba Le used to offer marinated tofu in addition to the usual fried tofu? Only other note is that the baguettes can start getting stale, depending on the time of day you visit! PRICE: 5/5 - so affordable for a quick lunch or dinner. This location is located inside of Kam Man Asian Market. I'm a fan of the Dorchester location so I decided to give this one a try. They are take-out only. The menu here is smaller and they have significantly less pastries and Vietnamese dish options compared to the Dorchester location. The only thing they make to order here is the Banh Mi. One costs about $6.50 and tastes as good as the original location. Other dishes such as spring rolls, rice dishes, or noodle dishes are pre-made and wrapped up in plastic containers that you just grab and go. There dishes weren't as good or fresh as the original location. As other people have mentioned, the service here is not as friendly. I've heard a lot of great things about the Ba Le shop in Dorchester; though, I was in Quincy and figured I'd try this shop. The staff here were not friendly. As I approached the counter, the woman shouts "what do you want!?". There were no menus so I wasn't sure which banh mi sandwiches were available. I looked into the display and asked the woman for the options. I settled on the BBQ pork as it's my go-to order at other banh mi shops! The cashier quickly demanded, "give me $6" before the woman was able to complete my order - no receipt. The banh mi bag was completely drenched in liquid (sauce inside the banh mi). I used to come here a lot but they have gone down hill. The old guy is downright rude and ignores you. I stood there for a good 5 mins while he gave me a dirty look and walked away to go clean. The other 2 ladies had their back to me and finally realized I was standing there. Instead of walking up to me the older lady screams YEAAA?! The middle aged lady mopping the floor said something in Vietnamese put down the mop to come grab me a premade sandwich not saying a word to me. No she did not wash her hands. The sandwiches are premade and it is soggy by the time you get it. I asked for hot peppers she grabbed the sandwich and walked to the register. I said again I want hot peppers please. She points to something green in the bag and says YEAH! I get home guess what no pepper she pretended to point to the cucumber. Recently, I dropped by this place around 5ish to get some banh mi sandwiches. I ordered one pork and one grilled beef, both without cilantro. The sandwiches were all pre-made so the lady behind the counter just unwrapped two of the banh mi sandwiches and removed the cilantro. For under $6 a sandwich, you can't complain too much. However, the bread was very chewy and not crispy at all. The sandwich had the regular pickled carrots and daikon and the pate sauce. I still saw some slivers of cilantro. Only about a mile from Route 3/Braintree, Ba Le Banh Mi/Quincy is part of the Dorchester Ba Le Banh Mi resto empire and it is great. I had to drive from Duxbury to Dorchester prior to today, but no longer. The Quincy store is in the Kam Man Asian Supermarket on the south side of Quincy and their products look and taste identical to the Dorchester goods, without the need to drive into Boston. Fantastic! I ordered two bbq beef banh mi and two spicy chicken banh mi - all delicious. I also ordered six fresh spring rolls and they were perfect, too. The sandwiches are made to order on the crusty mini baguettes that are kept in a small warming oven before use, ensuring crispness. Add fresh veggies, patè, cilantro and sauce, and your sandwich is done. Other food is available, too, but I came for the banh mi. Excellent. Excellent. Excellent! read more

Not sure if this location is related in any way to the one in Dorchester, but the one in Dorchester is definitely better. This review is solely for their bahn bot loc - the dumplings wrapped in leaves. I've found this place to have the best deal on the little dumplings in town. At 5 for $3.50, you can't beat it since many other places sell it for $1 per piece or more. They're perfectly chewy and come with a sweet spicy dipping sauce. If going to Kam Man or any of the plaza restaurants I will def be stopping here to stock up on some BBL for the week! read more

I am a huge fan of the location in Dorchester, but I absolutely love this location as well. Since moving to the South Shore area, this has been my go-to for Vietnamese coffee. Prior to this, I was always going to the Dorchester location for their banh mis, but I am always finding an excuse to come here to get their coffee. Not sure if they just do it at this location, but their coffee has a hazelnut after taste to it that I didn't notice with the Dorchester location. I know that it is because of the condensed milk they use, which they sell as well, and I love it! Their banh mi isn't bad, but such a great alternative if you do not want to drive far. The only thing I am unsure about is their hours. I was here around 5PM on a week day and they were closed, so I feel like this is a hit or miss for me. read more

At one point, I came everyday for beef sandwich with my coworker when the younger lady was there, service was great .... My issue is when the guy is there, he makes premade sandwiches, overcharges me, I didn't realize one time he charge me 25$ for something that should have been 14$. Ba Le has the BEST banh mi I've ever had! Perfect location as well. Plenty of parking at the Kam Man supermarket, the perfect snack to have while doing some grocery shopping. They make it fresh and aren't frugal with the ingredients! You can always expect a crispy bun that is packed. It is first thicky layered with mayo and sauce, then stacked with fillings! I usually grab the cold cut and they layer it. I would definitely bring some cash when visiting the one at Kam Man! I've been to too many places that dont give enough sauce/mayo and barely fill up your bun. These are so good, that when my sister moved out of state, while visiting, I end up bringing a whole bag of these on my flights over. I let the lady know that I won't be eating them right away and she was able to separate the bun and fillings for me, so we could prep them later. Customer service on point :) read more

Who are these people giving this place a 5-star review? My guess is that they are people who are happy to find a banh mi place near them where the food looks fresh. For the sake of disclosure, I should say that I eat banh mi a bit differently than most: I buy it, squish all the air out of the plastic grocery bag it's in, seal the bag as tightly as possible, and then wait a few hours to eat it. I've suggested this to several friends, and they all agree that the banh mi tastes better. If I had eaten it right after I bought it, then maybe I might have added another star, maybe. Banh Mi Ba Le is located inside of Kam-Man Market, which at some point I'll have to review. Let's just put it like this: Kam-Man Market is to Stop & Shop like Motel 6 is to a Hilton hotel. Still, the whole place has a sort of old-world charm to it. The ingredients for the banh mi looked fresh enough, but the one thing is that they don't have regular pork. They have this sliced gelatinous processed stuff which kind of looks like a prettier version of Spam, and they call that "pork". The other thing that's a bit odd is that they don't put pate on their chicken banh mi. That struck me as odd because other places add it as a standard item, but this place doesn't. It's also odd because doesn't pate come from chickens (i.e. their livers)? One good thing for those of you trying to lower your carbs is that the rolls they use are smaller than other places. Also, they have a decent taste. But the big problem is that there's no "oomph" to the sandwich, and I had them add hot peppers to it. It just tasted bland. It's worth mentioning that if I had never gone to a banh mi place before, I may have reviewed this place very differently. But when you compare price, food quality, and taste, this place can't hold a candle to Lee Han Sandwich in Quincy. The two friends who accompanied me today have also tried banh mi from Lee Han, and we all agreed that it wasn't even close. Part of the reason is that the vegetables at Lee Han have more pop to them. Still, this place is okay. One thing that's absolutely great about the place were the two old Vietnamese ladies behind the counter. They have this almost militaristic way of talking which I totally dig because I'm used to women of all ages ordering me around. The funny thing about both this place and Lee Han is that the women in charge of making banh mi are extremely territorial about it. Just fantastic. You want people taking ownership of their products, so it's great to watch. Good Banh Mi sandwiches. I get the chicken and have tried the pork as well. Both were excellent. I also got this pre-packages yellow rice dessert before which was good but quite dry (it's suppose to be, just have a drink with it). I got one of their green drinks in the refrigerator. It had some kind of gelatin in it along with red beans, a lychee, and what I think may have been sugarcane. It was too sweet for me personally, but I think those who love super sweet stuff would appreciate it. Definitely going to come back and try more of their stuff. I've place a large order of 6 banh mei sandwiches and 2 beef and egg rice dish and the total order came up to $58 dallors and all of of the food had hair in my order!This is not acceptable, while the price has done up and my first time ordering its very disappointing! And when I went in I saw customers all walking around without mask ,not 6 feet apart having their lunch! This is a huge cov-19 violation and a very small space is even more shocking! There were fresh meats all piled up for the cold cut sandwich, a pile of the white "cha" and another pile of the pork one. I watched her making the sandwich and rather than take the fresh slices of the white meat from the fresh pile, she dug and dug until she found what must be yesterday's old misshapen pieces. One was folded in quarters rather than being fresh and long like the ones in the fresh pile, and she unfolded it and placed it in my sandwich. Then she dug more and put more small pieces that I later found to be the ENDS OF THE RIND of the roll that were not thin and fresh and about 8" long but 2" long, 1/2" thick pieces of rind with a ripply round edge, the "ends" like they sell marked down in grocery stores. I feel completely ripped off because that was her intention. I gave the sandwich to the birds. I paid the SIX DOLLARS for the sandwich but they didn't supply it. BUT MORE THAN THAT, she spreads only 1/8 tsp of the mayo and the same of the pate paste, puts literally a few drops only of the tasty soy, one little spring only of cilantro with about three leaves on it, and one spear of cucumber that was mushy. So you don't get any FLAVOR because the flavor in this sandwich comes from the combination of the fresh cilantro and other herbs, mixed with the taste of the soy and mayo and you are looking for that experience when you eat it and it isn't there. As another reviewer pointed out, it is very bland and no flavor! ALSO the pickled carrot salad was hardly marinated in the vinegar and sugar marinade and added none of the characteristic flavor it should. ALSO, yesterday they told me that the shrimp papaya salad was $6 but the one with a tiny amount of only thin strips of jerky only was $4.50 and I came all the way back from Boston today to try it and the sandwich, but the VERY rude man who seems to be the owner said the shrimp was out and the jerky was also $6. I shouldn't have bought it for just a few strips of jerky on top of shredded papaya, some basil and literally one half of one peanut chopped on top. The ones in restaurants with lots of shrimp and chicken and other veggies are $8. So for $12, I could have gotten a decent restaurant meal and I got cheap food that went in the garbage and abuse. This is my favorite place to get Banh Mi and rice paper mango salad. The food are cheap, but compare to some Vietnamese places this place is kind of pricey. I would recommend you to get the food in the morning because it taste so much better and fresher in the morning. I wasn't planning to write a review since I have been going there for the longest time but since the renovated the place and make it bigger, it has been a challenge to order. There is a sign hanging above the register to order here but you can be waiting there forever while other customers will be literally go up to the drink section or the sandwich section and just order while others that are waiting at the signage saying order here are still waiting. A few time I saw customers leaving because the employees never redirect the customers. I have mentioned to the employees what is the point of the signage and they just said you can order anywhere. Today I saw 3 customers waiting for 10 minutes at the register to order and there are other customers just walking up to the counter and start ordering sandwiches. When one of the customer asked the employees I thought you order here pointing at the sign, the employee said no you don't. You only pay here. Of course they were upset. Also I guess is normal to have flies on top of the meats and vegetables as they are making the sandwiches and shooing the flies away. They said this is normal and safe. So if you want to order from them and do not mind all the flies, make sure to get there when not busy or just like everyone else, just jump in front of other people waiting and see who they will take the orders first. read more
