Stopped by today for the second time in a very long while. I kept forgetting they have uncommon but good dishes that I love like Canh Bun and Banh Tam Bi. I ordered a meatball sub, savory sticky rice, and stir fried pasta to try. Food came out promptly after ordering at the counter. It's a small eatery and clean. Banh Mí Boston is a small local gem in Wollaston! I do think they recently renamed to Linda Banh Mí, though. There's a decent amount of street parking nearby and a handful of tables inside. However, this spot has a grab-and-go sort of vibe. I've gotten their BBQ beef banh mí and their cold cut banh mí. I really like their BBQ beef banh mí and the fish sauce they add. I wish they added more fish sauce, but they add a good amount of meat too. They definitely are not skimping out on the protein. The prices are pretty comparable to other Banh Mí shops at about $8-9 a banh mí. Their bread is a little bit smaller than some other spots, but it's fresh. They also serve up some other authentic Vietnamese desserts and food, which is lovely. Would recommend checking out this local, family-owned spot! read more

We drove by, and I spotted this place on a corner and proceeded to talk the driver into turning around for a vietnamese sub at Banh Mi Boston. We located a parking spot on the street in front of a house and I hoofed it back over. I was tempted by the lemongrass pork chop plate but ended up getting a bbq pork sub for each of us. It's exciting to find a phenomenal banh mi place south of Boston. If you are still discovering the world of banh mi, like I am, I am finding that the family forward places are offering food with more depth of flavor. This place was no exception. My bánh mì bò nướng had the right amount of heat, crusty/pillowy bread and nice crunch on the vegetables. I am told that the bread is made on premises so freshness should be (and was that day) nearly guaranteed. As seems to be an unspoken standard, the sandwich was made with lightning speed. Unfortunately for me, I was hungry, so I didn't savor as much as I wanted to (not quite a Son Goku but more like a Yogi with a freshly baked pie). Nice family owned shop. Has the traditional banh mi styles plus some others. Made fresh. I think the amount of protein you get in the sub compared to the baguette is a bit lopsided like the xiu mai style sub i had was 2 xiu mai meatballs cut in half and placed in the sub. I would probably get more traditional beef or cold cut next time. Nice to have more options of viet subs in the city. They also do many other dishes traditional viet beer food, rice plates, pastries, desserts and smoothies. Will return when in the Wolly area and craving some. For some odd reason, my stomach cannot handle most banh mi's sold in and around Boston. Not sure if it's the msg or additives or what but I was about to give up on enjoying banh mi's unless I made it at home. Enter Banh Mi Boston - a banh mi shop that looks standard but tastes homemade and is definitely made with love. Banh mi Boston banh mi tastes homemade and definitely does not give me a stomachache or induces an msg coma. With vegetarian, pescatarian, and omnivore options - you can certainly find a banh mi catered to you here. Everyone gets the standard cold cut sandwich and that is a deliciously safe choice. But if you're feeling adventurous, the beef sandwich and fish cake sandwich is even more of a flavor bomb! They also sell traditional viet dishes that are worth a try - my favorite is the banh beo (mochi like rice paddies with mungbean, shrimp dust, and scallions with fish sauce dipping sauce) and the bot chien (fried rice cake with egg omlette and pickled veggies). The egg rolls are delicious and aromatic as well. They also sell traditional snacks and to go meals. My favorite of those dishes is the sticky rice with steamed pork and sausage slices tossed in a sweet soy sauce. Just old school comfort food. The shop is always spotless and service is always so friendly. The shop owner is so sweet and polite. First time getting banh mi in Boston and, coming from San Jose, the bar is high for viet food. I was really excited to see bot chien on the menu, since it's not a super well known dish! Ordered through Yelp's online ordering and it was ready for pickup within 5 minutes. Parking is street parking only but took less than 2 minutes to find a spot on a Saturday afternoon. All the food was pretty good! i do wish the sauce for the bot chien were a bit stronger, and that they put Maggie sauce on the banh mi like most places on the west coast do, but it definitely satisfied my cravings! read more

Needed a new local bahn mi shop for a quick and cheap lunch and Banh Mi Boston was exactly what I was looking for. I got the grilled pork sandwich which had nice crunchy cuts of fatty pork. The bread was fresh and the veggie toppings were tangy with the pickled veggies and spicy with the jalapeños. At $5.50 per sandwich, you won't find a better value. I also tried a few prepared items in the fridge. The pork rice wrap rolls were fresh and tasty. The shredded pork and rice made a nice reheated lunch the next day for $3. Great Banh mi and friendly service. We came on a late Sunday afternoon so a lot of the other snacks/desserts were gone. We got Banh mi thit nguoi and Banh mi heo nuong (they ran out of Bo nuong). I personally love toasting up my Banh mi to eat later in the day, or the next day. It has great flavors and a good amount of meat in both. There are 2-3 small tables and bar seating (3 chairs). Saw this spot a couple days ago after heading home from the gym and knew we had to try it. First impression when walking in, cleanness and coziness. It's a small Vietnamese sub shop with other varieties to pick from. Took a glimpse through their menu and saw bun Bo hue. I will definitely try it next time! This place used to be my go to spot but it went down hill. The old lady who makes the sandwich was friendly but she ignored the toppings I don't want. She remade the sandwich 3 times. Another time, the lady was making my sandwich and she was scrapping the dried up bits of pate from the sides of the container onto my sandwich and I said I don't want it anymore and walked out. Their bread is inconsistent. Sometimes hard and sometimes tasted stale. Their coconut pandan dessert was not good. It was sort of hard like a day old. This unassuming little shop is such a gem, and is like a combination counter/marketplace. I'm honestly leaving this review just for the service, the lady working was so sweet and patient. The vietnamese iced coffee is STRONG and not super sweet, but definitely authentic and delicious. The taro milk tea was a little grainy, but I think it is the texture of the taro itself. The banh mi is huge for only $6.50 and they toast the bread to order. It's also one of the best banh mi I've had, the pork is SUPER flavorful with hints of ginger and lemongrass, and the sandwich overall is perfectly balanced texturally and flavor-wise. A new banh mi spot has entered Quincy! It's a decent sized shop with 2 to 3 tables for dine-in (which I did see people doing) but probably best for grab and go. You can tell it's a family-owned shop and our cashier was very nice and offered great service. We ordered the cold cut banh mi ($5.50) and the grilled beef banh mi ($6). I didn't see the option on the menu but the cashier said we could choose between grilled beef or BBQ beef and we went with grilled per her suggestion. Although the bahn mi wasn't bad by any means, it wasn't great either. Honestly though, can a banh mi ever be BAD?? There was just a whole lot of baguette compared to the amount of filling you get. The beef was a bit dry/tough (but really flavorful!) and the bf thought one of the meats in the cold cut was odd. They have their drink and dessert menus hanging up on monitors behind the counter and they sound and look perfect for the hot weather! They also have a bunch of snacks and desserts on the counters and fridges surrounding the main counter. Newly renovated, this banh mi shop is really good. It offers a plethora of banh mi and other Vietnamese treats. The owner used to work at Lee Han's in North Quincy so the quality is pretty much the same. The grilled beef sandwich ($6 w/o tax) is sliced beef with all the regular accoutrements. It a bit saucy so eat it in the bag. The egg rolls (4 for $3) are good, but a bit greasy. There are two tables inside and the unisex bathroom is clean. The people working seem to be related to each other. Service is a bit slow, but they are assembling the sandwiches fresh. Plenty of street parking on Elm Avenue and definitely recommend as a cheap eats option in Quincy. read more

New to the Wollaston block of Asian restaurants, Banh Mi Boston has been open for about a month when we swing by to try it out. The space is newly renovated bright colors and large LCDs for menu displays. They have a short standing counter and couple of tables for those who are waiting for their orders or opt to dine in. Two large refrigerated cases hold their grab and go dishes, drinks, and desserts. Kitchen in the back makes all the food and desserts in house, so I am told. In terms of drinks and food, we ordered 3 banh mi and 2 smoothies. Grilled beef was average, with little beef to fill the baguette. The grilled chicken and cold cut was pretty good in terms of flavor and filling, albeit salter than we prefer. Smoothies had room for improvement, more watered down than what we've had elsewhere. Price point, definitely pricier than the other Vietnamese banh mi stores in the area, by about $2 across the board. This was a pleasant surprise, as I was actually picking up take out from next door but figured I'd pop in and grab some Vietnamese goodies. There are a few tables inside for dine in, which guarantees that your feed will be hot and fresh. I ordered the banh cuon cha lua ($6) and banh mi thit nguoi ($5.50). The banh cuon (steamed rice rolls filled with wood ear mushroom + ground pork w/ pork bologna) was pretty good. Their menu says it comes with a shrimp cake and other pictures show a cha gio, but they might have ran out - instead it looks like I got extra pieces of cha lua! I was super impressed with the banh mi. The bread is the winner here, as it's baked in-house and freshly toasted right when you order. The baguette has the perfect crunchy and crispy exterior while retaining a soft inside. The cold cuts were plentiful, and the mayo they use is delicious. I think the only thing they could improve on is perhaps the flavor of their pickled daikon and carrots - maybe they need to add more sugar into the brine. The pickled onions, however, were very good and added a nice tang. I definitely recommend trying this place out, and having a little patience. They only recently opened are still getting the hang of operations and stock - if you've ever worked in the restaurant industry you would understand. The owner and front of house guy who takes your order are super friendly. Parking is not easy, as the coveted street parking spots are minimal and involve parallel parking with the busy traffic. I been passing by this store few times and wanted to try their banh mi. I brought a cold cut banh mi, it had great flavor but lack of cold cut, only 2 pieces of each and lots of veggies. I preferred the one in North Quincy, and it is same price. This store offer more variety of banh mi compared to other local banh mi store. The cashier was nice to explained what each entree have since some of the items on their menu don't have description. I ended up ordering banh cuon, hue beef noodle soup, and a beef stew noodle soup. I already pay but informed the beef stew noodle soup was out of stock. I was planning to replaced with the roasted chicken noodle soup but also unavailable. The cashier recommended nam vong noodle soup but not interested since it have organ. She giving me another recommendation which is the crab noodle soup. I ended up with the crab noodle soup. After waiting 15min or longer, I was informed by the boss which is the chef that the flat noodles are out, is it okay to replaced it with thin noodle which is fine with it. Nearly 30min wait. I probably called (617-302-3301) to order especially if you want noodle soup. After trying their noodle soup, not really my liking although it seem tasty. I still want to try the beef stew next time if I get the chance. Overall, I spend $31.50 for 4 items. Many items are out of stock and it is Tuesday lunch which is kind of unacceptable. I don't know how this place has such high reviews. I usually go to Banh Mi Le in NQ but decided to give this place a shot. Meat tastes weird and old. Nothing about the sandwiches were good. I got the cold cut, grilled beef and grilled chicken. None of the grilled meats even looked grilled at all. I usually eat all of my food even if it's kinda bad, but this was so bad that I actually couldn't eat it. My buddy went and got the roast pork sub which he said was good. I didn't get a chance to try that because they were sold out. Maybe that's the only sandwich they serve that's decent. My recommendation these days for banh mi in NQ is Banh Mi Le, which used to be Lee Han. For Randolph I would check out NP Saigon subs and Chau's But the best for the south shore if you're willing to drive north a bit more would be Ba Le in Dorchester. read more

Oh this banh mi shop is so tasty! I got 2 banh Mis and also a rice roll to go and ate it hours later and it was still super fresh! My mom ate it fresh and enjoyed it a lot. We usually go to the banh mi stand in the plaza but I decided to drive over here to try this place and I'm glad I did! The people are very nice and they take card as well. Storefront is very clean. If you don't look closely you wouldn't notice there's a food place there. At first I thought they only sell the Vietnamese sandwiches. Nonetheless, after going there a few times, I saw ppl sitting there eating some noodle soup. Then I know they also have Vietnamese noodle soup. Now that being said, their noodle soups are different from the typical noodle soup we had in majority places. Honestly I do not know how they made it, but when I first receive my noodle soup I was expecting a white crystal clear color soup, like the usual Vietnamese noodle soup we had in most places, then I double checked, it shows beef stew noodle soup not just beef noodle soup, so that might be the difference. I wasn't expect it to taste so good, but it actually taste not that bad. It actually makes me feel like it's home made. Anyway there was just one thing to complain is that there are some seasoning thingy that you need to take out, because when you work though around 30%of your noodle soup you will accidentally bite it. The ginger in it is huge so you can just take it out. Also the carrots, if they could chop it to be smaller that would be great! As for the Vietnamese sandwich, I normally just get the cold cut classic, but I also tried the tofu one. They are both pretty good like your typical Vietnamese sandwich. One last thing though, I asked for spicy I am not sure if they put spicy in it or it just not that spicy. So for spicy lovers, make sure you said very spicy. They also sell some small snacks and drinks. That's pretty much round it up. It's a small cozy place with two tables and a bar table.
