This is mostly for their BBQ pork bahn mi. I love right around the corner from this spot and it's a regular on the rotation for take or when I'm craving Vietnamese sand which. Perfect crunch bread and tasty BBQ pork. It's the quintessential sand which. I've also had their noodle salad with shrimp which is great if your in the mood for something lighter. This place is amazing! My husband and I just moved to Chicago a month ago and already ordered from Bánh Mì & Co. 4 times! This is considering we love to cook and prefer to keep it healthy. I work from home and a walk to get a sandwich might be the only outside contact I get during the day. I have been frequenting Jimmy Johns and New York Deli. Banh Mi is also being added to the rotation even though it's a few extra blocks from my "office". I get the classic banh mi. It's good and pretty authentic. Not sure if I care for anything else on the menu. I don't want to carry home pho and I'm on a sandwich kick lately. In comparison to price, it's a bigger sandwich than JJ and might be too much food to eat frequently. JJ is $5.75 whereas BM is $6.55. NYD is $4.50 for the half sandwich, which I feel like is the appropriate serving size. I think Banh Mi is a good value, but I would be satisfied with a smaller sandwich option. read more

I've had the pulled pork bahn mi three different times since trying this place! It's that good! The wonton soup is also delicious. I've had both delivery and dine in. Just ate here and I have to say I'm very disappointed. I have never posted on Yelp but thought that I had to for this. I have been coming here since they opened, I live a block away, and over time I have see their prices go up and their quality go down. They have raised their prices at least two times over the past year and today I was greatly disappointed in the quality of the sandwich. The bread was almost doughy, not crispy like usual (I don't know if they changed the bakery they get their bread from or what) the cilantro was brown and the meat almost seemed to be missing. The price of a combo (sandwich, one spring roll and a can of soda) has gone from around $7 to $10, and for what? I was a bit shocked when the woman told me $9.96 for my order today. I guess it's so we can fund their expansion as they open new locations around the city. I am most disappointed that I have lost a place in the neighborhood that I used to love. I used to stop in once every few weeks but there are too many options along Broadway and I don't think I will be going back. read more

I have been coming here for years and always enjoyed great food and great customer service - until last night. I placed an over the phone order for delivery for beef pho and spring rolls around 7:45. After waiting over an hour for my delivery, I called the restaurant only to realize they had closed and was unable to leave a voicemail as the inbox was full. "Cute" atmosphere, Spanish music included, but looks can be deceiving. Most of the food is not prepared fresh as insinuated and fairly mediocre. The pho broth is more like chicken broth and lacking more traditional spices. After ordering the beef banh mi we saw them microwave the meat for the sandwich in an odd gravy. We also tried the spring rolls and they looked possibly prepackaged as well, since they came out on a styrofoam platter. We didn't even finish them. Growing up in California, I'm used to my banh mi's being $2-3 each, so a $7 banh mi was kind of a steep price, but it did not disappoint!! When i saw the amount of good reviews this place had on Yelp i was convinced. and i really felt like Pho after a visit in a cinema. how disappointed i was. maybe it was a mistake to just go for the Pho and not the sandwich? i don't know. first of all the service, there is a little Bar inside where you can sit and look through the window, and outside are a couple of tables and chairs, they were set up so tight next to each other that you could not pass so i opted for the inside. i ordered at the bar, no hello nothing , the guy just said " to go , right'? ah, no not to go for here... i almost felt like im a nuisance ? they all spoke spanish behind the counter , not very assuring in a vietnamese place? i ordered Pho with beef( there were only two options, beef or chicken) and two vegan spring rolls with seitan. the food came lighting fast i hardly had time to sit down and check in. i didnt order a drink because i kind of thought there would be water with it? no , no water...nobody asked me if i want a drink either. everything was already in the Pho, the basil, the lime the jalapeño , the sprouts. it was completely tasteless. like water with stuff in it. there was hosin sauce and hot sauce to try to make up for the lack of taste but its just not the same if you have to put everything in later and its not cooked with any spices. the worst was the silver wear. of should i say plastic wear? i mean i m used to deal with a plastic spoon , but this?? just embarrassing guys, how much are the spoons in asian stores, 50 cent? these were so thin and flimsy it was just sad. the spring rolls came on a styrofoam plate. awesome ! there goes the environment... i was disappointed and i m not going to be back, there is so much good food around here... read more

Your name says it all, Banh Mi, which tells me that you should be good at what you specialize in---Vietnamese sandwiches. Unfortunately the bread I had was dry and the meat and vegetables were bland. LOVED the papaya salad! It's a big serving so 2 can share. We also had their veggie pho and curry chicken Banh mi and they were excellent too. Small place, we ate outside the day we went. This review is strictly based on the appearance and prices of this place. I walked in to Banh Mi on Broadway yesterday and was a bit disappointed. Having gone to a few Banh Mi places here and other cities, I expected to see Vietnamese folks behind the counter. This at least gives me an indication they must own the place and I am getting authentic food - not some fushioned sandwich. Also, their prices are at least double that of the 'real' Banh Mi places in viet town. I understand that this is Lakeview but double and more? Really? Thats also probably why they do not put prices on their website. If they do you may think twice before going there. So I told myself I'll wait and pick up some Banh Mis when I go to Nhu Lan tomorrow where I know for sure that they will be really good since I've had theirs before. Bánh Mì & Co. is probably good for those who do not want to venture to the Asian section of town where they can gain some cultural experience and be more exposed. Exposure counts! read more
