I think this is probably THE place to get banh mi in Paris. It might be a ways from some of the other landmarks - but I'd say maybe close enough to the Bastille, but worth the trip over. They are open during limited hours, so make sure you plan ahead to be there when they are. I got there a few minutes after they opened. It's not much for decor inside and looks like the owner didn't have too much time to think through ambiance for people to sit inside, but mostly it's meant to be a take away place anyways. So, my fiance and I sat and waited for her to make me a special after she was finishing up on another order. She is quite the fireball and representative of my Asian people on the other extreme of fiesty and opinionated. I love it! We chatted for a few minutes since I asked her her favorite and she responded back that it just depends on what you like. I wished I was here longer to try the others but my plan was to take this sandwich back for my flght the next day, and it was awesome the next day still! I love the level of spicyness and the portion and ratio of everything. It was unique yet also similar in flavor and I really enjoyed it. The prices were reasonable as well. I came too late for the pork banh mi so I got the spicy banh mi cha lua (Vietnamese ham) and man, it was definitely spicy! I'm not sure if she loaded up my banh mi with extra spices because she knew I was Vietnamese or what but she definitely made it hot! But the Vietnamese mayo and the loaded pickled carrot and cilantro make it bearable. Even though it was spicy, this is probably the best banh mi I've had in in my life. That's saying a lot because I'm Vietnamese and have eaten a ton of banh mi sandwiches in my life. The mayo spread was sooo good and this isn't normal American mayo. Definitely a fan, tops any banh mi you can find near Avenue d'Ivry/Chinatown. Go for the porc caramel or the poulet, I preferred those over the special. In any case, for around 6 euros you get a huge sandwich served not on a baguette tradition, but classic crusty bread, the kind that scratches the roof of your mouth (as is the custom with banh mi!). Combine either meat with a huge garnish of cilantro, delicious marinated shredded carrots, an extra slathering of the birdseye pepper spice and a bit of the housemade mayo and we have a winner. The small is a good size actually. These sandwiches are packed full of food. The lady is also very friendly and her English is good. I of course turned to the best source out there on my quest for great food: YELP! Without Yelp, I would not have found this delicious place. The boba tea was unique.. in Paris, they didn't use tapioca pearls like I'm used to. Rather, it was juicy beads. When you bit into the bead, it would burst with whatever flavor you chose. Just went here for a quick bite and got what we expected - delicious banh mi for about 7 Euro, and while they don't have jalapenos they do have thai chiles or the special spicy sauce they make themselves. It was just spicy enough for me. I could have had more, but I do like everything spicy, so don't go with what I say if you can't take it. I had the pork and the beef and both were delicious. One big thick cut of cucumber, carrot, cilantro, and beef or pork. I had the coco juice too which was yummy. Quality banh mi Vietnamese sandwiches. I've had a few of these in my lifetime being from San Francisco and this place is definitely one of the best I've had. We tried both the chicken and omelette. The fresh veggies, tasty light sauce, and perfectly toasted bread were just right. The place is kind of small and the lady making the sandwiches gets pretty busy sometimes but she is super charming. I personally wasn't a fan of this place but I will also say you shouldn't judge food based off a review because everyone has different taste. All the food had already been cooked and was basically just heated up and personally wasn't to my liking. My boyfriend said it was "ok, it was good" but nothing amazing.
