My aunt ordered the Chicken Katsu Banh Mi and she said it was really really good. The Roasted Pork Belly Banh Mi was perfection, it was so tasty, the bread was amazing, and all of the veggies were so crisp and flavorful. The smoothie was delicious! You could really taste the passion fruit, it was wonderful. We were treated so well by the employees. The air conditioning felt great after the hike. There are a handful of tables inside and a good amount of tables outside with gorgeous patio coverings. There are about 4 designated parking spots and the rest is street parking. read more

Ordering at the counter is a treat here because everyone is so nice!! I'm so serious. I have always had such good times here because of the people. So shout out to the banh mi up team! I order the same two items every time. But today I got the one vegan banh mi option. Tofu. SO GOOD. So juicy and the sandwich is massive and so fresh. They do not skimp out - you are getting a full meal (maybe even leftovers). Now that it's nice out and their patio has really grown in it's such a vibe to sit outside. Shaded but bright. Came in to pick up an order and they were playing a song I love while the food was still being prepared. Suddenly the kitchen started blasting music so loud that the worker turned off his music in the front. What kind of establishment lets the kitchens music blast over the music for the customers in the front? The family and I were driving back to the Bay Area from Seattle and looking for a spot to pick up a quick lunch. Banh Mi Up was a bit off I-5, but the menu looked good and accommodated a wide range of diets. We thought, why not? I'm so glad we stopped!!! The vegan pork belly and braised tofu banh mi sandwiches were SO GOOD. Better than any we've had in the Bay Area (and there are a lot of banh mi places in the Bay)! The texture and flavor of the vegan pork was incredible, and a week later, we're still reminiscing about how good it was. In fact, everything we had was excellent - the grilled chicken and pork belly banh mi, the slaw that accompanied the sandwiches, and the iced coffee. Tried this today because I was craving a banh mi. I really enjoyed the sandwich the bread was light and fluffy but had the perfectly crispy crust. The pork belly was tender and juicy and being fried was a nice touch. I really enjoyed the house sauce on the sandwich and kind of wish there was a little more meat. The Coleslaw was tasty too. I got the butterfly tea lemonade and it was like a sparkling lemonade with butterfly pea tea and passion fruit puree, very tasty and refreshing. I also get extra veggies and noodles which makes my dish well over $ 20.00. The consistency needs major improvement I never get all the ingredients mentioned on the description from THEIR menu. Super speedy when it comes to takeout order. The items were separated and packaged well. The food wasn't as fresh as it could have been (banh mi wasn't warm, tofus weren't crispy etc.) but kinda to be expected when it comes to takeout. Their flavors were consistently good across all items. Very fresh ingredients as well. The Chicken Pho came with lemongrass grilled chicken which was pretty novel for us but worked really well. The chicken was juicy, tender, and flavorful. Loved it! Huge, huge portion of noodles. Like seriously so much. The one bowl of pho could have fed 2 people easily. Broth was on the heavy side but still nice. Great addition of the chinese donut on the side. Will be looking out for more of this in the future. The Chicken Banh Mi used the same chicken as that in the pho. I enjoyed the butteriness of the baguette and pork pate that paired perfectly with the pickled veggies and herbs. Not overly sauced either. The coleslaw that came with it was interesting at first, kinda dry, but it grows on you. Really like the fried shallots and cashew. The Tofu Plate was also a hit. Would really like to try this fresh cause we imagine the tempura tofus would have been crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Ordered the vegan pho and it smells and looks so gross. :( The bok choy was inedible and the rest of the veggies were mush and the carrots had a strange white center that was almost translucent. The veggies topping that come with were mostly fresh but the tofu was extremely meh, somewhere weirdly in between being air fried and untouched. There's a strange smell coming from the broth and there's a strange greasy residue layered on the top. It doesn't smell like chili oil, but I'm assuming that's what it is? I'd rather just have had the broth instead of added oil. They put the hoisin sauce on the side, why not put the oil on the side too? Overall generally just hard to eat bc I can't get past the smell. I come here often because it's next to my house and it's decent food. I usually get the Banh Mi but sometimes I get the garlic noodles. This last time I did get the garlic noodles and the serving size was cut in half, the pork was cold, and the dish was missing its usual side of greens. I went in to try to get my side of greens and was told that they took out the side of greens for the garlic noodles. However, that was not reflective of the menu. I ordered the dish because I wanted the greens. I would expect that they would at least try to remedy the issue by offering me a side of greens or an alternative item but I was just met with an I'm sorry and we will be sure to update the menu. All of this and the price of the noodle dish has not changed and in fact I believe has increased in price. If you change a dish, the first thing you should do is change the menu before anything else. Otherwise what's the point of the menu. read more

As I lay here sprawled on the couch in a comfortable food coma I reflect upon the actions and experience that got me here. Ordering the Combo Rice Bowl was a good decision as it provided my belly plenty of quality food for a good price. I've ordered frequently even through price increases and now them being cashless, which is illegal in the state of Oregon. I'm highly disappointed in my most recent few orders. They put everything in the bowl of pho before bringing it to you if you're eating there. I am not a fan of that because I don't like a lot of the side items and they put so many jalapeños in it. I recently ordered to go pick up and, when I got home I opened the to go box to burnt pork belly. When I tasted it was so salty I had to spit it out. For $23 it was a complete disappointment. I have accepted that I will not be coming back to this restaurant any more. There's better pho places in Portland. read more
