Great takeout dinner! Ordered the Gai Satay for an appetizer. It was a great start with 2 very large grilled marinated chicken skewers. Loved the peanut sauce and cucumber salad that it came with. Followed by the yellow curry. Ordered it mild (not mild+) with chicken and jasmine rice. It was perfectly mild, slight spice that was perfectly balanced by the coconut milk. Had a great visit to Thai noon. The restaurant looked a little different than it did last visit. If I remember correctly, they had booth seating. That is gone and there are tables in that space. The menus are redesigned as well. The ambiance in the restaurant was relaxing and calm, service was excellent. The servers kept our glasses full, but they weren't overbearing. The food was delicious! Food is always great and service is usually great. But this past visit was hilarious. I had to damn near beg for 2 forks and 2 napkins. I ordered a full entree 26. Pad Thai and asked for silverware and napkins, and they literally gave me 1 fork, and 1 napkin. We were hanging out in Alberta waiting for a drag brunch to start (my gf is an Oregonian) and said this spot was delicious so we had lunch here. I used to eat here a lot and it was great but tonight I ordered on Uber eats and I'm actually offended that they would even serve anyone the food they sent, they should've thrown it in the trash and made a new one. It was pad Thai and it's like they scraped out an old burnt pan and served it to me. I also got salad rolls and the lettuce was slimy and rotten. Ate here with my family on mother's day, we wanted a place that was low key without the long lines, etc. I've always loved the egg rolls here (I'll stop by & grab an order as a snack on my way ro my mother's house or something) but didn't really care for the food. BUT I must say that they've updated their menu & everyone was content with their order. We shared the avocado curry, egg rolls (of course), tom yum soup w/ chicken (should have ordered it vegetarian because we didn't eat the chicken, it was too dry), and the thai ribs with rice. I frequently dine at this restaurant with my two sons and I really enjoy the curry, particularly the green and yellow curry. The curry is consistently well-prepared. My kids love the fried rice and pad SE ew. The two waitresses, Pin and Chris, are very kind and always attentive. Your presence never fails to bring a smile to my sons' faces. Excellent service! Came across this as I was walking around this street. Setting: a pretty big restaurant with big windows and great lighting. Staff: very friendly and kind! Food (to go): 1. Chicken fried rice $12.50 it was bland. Parts of it were mushy. It was a big portion that's for sure and the huge cuts of chicken were present but also on the bland side. It didn't feel like it had any Thai seasonings or flavors. 2. Tofu pad thai w/o peanuts $12.50. I wouldn't call this Pad Thai because the seasoning and flavors of Thai-ness was missing. I'm not an expert but I always get pad thai when I go to a Thai restaurant and this tasted very different. The flavor was fine but it tasted more like Thai-noodle stir fried with more Chinese sauces instead. 2 points for very large portions with the price you pay and very friendly staff. read more

Pretty good Thai spot. There are 2 other Thai restaurants right on the street, after many visits to all this is a solid spot, tho I do like Cha Ba Thai a tad more. The prices are very good, great lunch specials and about the same prices as Cha Ba Thai. The Spicy Sweet Basil is definitely less spicy (I got 5/5 spice and was barely spicy) and their stir fries are a bit more 'wet' if you know what I mean which some ppl may like but not me personally. I tried one of their specials as well, the Crying Tiger which is just a steak you dip in fish sauce. The steak was cooked well but I guess I was expecting more. Pad Thai was delicious. Just needed some chilly flakes to kick it up a notch. Spicy fried rice with basil was tasty as well. Lemon grass chicken was salty and the sauce was too sweet for our taste. Our favorites include the pad se ew, spicy eggplant stirfry, and salad rolls. The spice levels can vary so if you're sensitive to spice consider ordering a lower level than usual. Went with family. Had Pad Kee Mao and asked for it Gluten Free. He repeated it back to me and said yes. I have no had that bad a gluten response in a year. 2 days later, I am still having a gluten response. I know some people do it for preference but some do it because of celiac. I will not return. More like 4.5 stars! I have now ordered twice from delivery apps and my partner and I have been impressed with the freshness of the food. Everything is spiced perfectly (love SUPER spicy) and the veggies are oh so fresh. I have had the egg rolls each time because they are SO tasty. I love when you get the crisp outside and still some crunch to the vegetables inside as well. I ordered a stir-fry with a bunch of modifications and they got them all! Thai Noon is located in the heart of Portland's Alberta Arts District. It is a spacious, brightly painted restaurant with a homey feel that is perfect for dates and family lunches and dinners. Plenty of seats inside. There is also a good-sized bar area. Bathroom was clean. Staff was friendly. They even greeted me in Thai (they thought I was Thai haha). Pretty standard menu for a Thai restaurant: curries, stir-fry, fried rice, soups, and salads. They have gluten-free and vegan options as well. I ordered Thai-style BBQ chicken (chicken marinated in house recipe sauce, served with sticky rice) for $14.50. It reminded me of gai yang which I ate a lot when I lived with a Thai roommate in Seattle. Decent portion. While the flavors were remarkable, I found the texture to be a little dry. I feel like the chicken had been sitting out for a while and they just reheated it. I would give them another shot, for sure. But for what I ordered, Thai Noon is three stars in my book. Food (40%) = 3 Service (30%) = 4 Ambiance (20%) = 4 Value for Money (10%) = 3   Overall score = (0.40*3 + 0.30*4 + 0.20*4 + 0.10*3) = 3.5 (round down to 3 stars) P.S. This has been my favorite Thai restaurant for as long as I can remember - more than 20 years. They are fast, friendly, the food is fresh, the space always pretty and clean, and it's a great deal. I have many Thai options closer to home but usually choose Thai Noon. read more

After a slightly disappointing dinner at a nearby establishment, my wife and I stopped in for some mango sticky rice for dessert, to cleanse our palate, in more ways than one. According to her, it was the best she had every tasted, and having one bite myself, I'm going to have to agree, and give it five stars! We didn't stay long, but our experience was pleasant. The staff were friendly and attentive, and our dessert was in front of us before we knew it. Social distancing was enforced, tables and booths were clean. The decor is nothing to write home about: sort of a "Thai family sets up shop in a hospital cafeteria" vibe, but the bright color scheme was cute, although a little faded. The whole Alberta Arts district is a wonderful place to walk and dine, and after tonight's experience, I suspect we will be back for more dessert, at the very least, the next time we are in the neighborhood. read more
