Banhmigos would do so very well to add more ingredients and flavors to their Vietnamese dishes. They were lacking in the complexity that typically defines a summer roll, but the peanut sauce, mixed with sriracha, partially made up for what I was craving. The green salad with portobello mushrooms was ok. The lightness of the food we ordered was just what we were looking for after a long weekend of heavy meals, but overall, all of the dishes left me wishing I had made the effort to make the same dishes at home myself. read more

Super disappointed and a little angry too! I've eaten here twice. Both times I ordered at the counter using the larger menu boards. I'm a vegetarian and asked the counter staff if there was a vegetarian Pho option, there wasn't, so I asked for a suggestion. She suggested the "Veg Chicken Rice Vermicelli". On my second trip here I ordered the same thing, as did my companion. He thought the sauce smelled fishy, and when we double checked, and it did have fish sauce in it. The staff was completely baffled as to why we'd be concerned about this. They said, "But a lot of vegetarians order this dish." Yeah, it's because they don't know that it's not vegetarian! It's very misleading to have "veg" options that aren't actually vegetarian. They said the paper menu stated the sauce has fish in it, so I asked to see the paper menu, but they were out. I'm writing this review hoping that the staff becomes more knowledgeable about vegetarian options, and compassionate to those dining there. I hope that they add this detail to their menu boards, don't suggest this option to vegetarian clients without also noting the fish sauce, and mention any non-vegetarian ingredients to people ordering "veg" options. On the positive side, they did replace my meal. They were nice, but still did not seem to understand what the problem was, which was disappointing to me. My friend recommended this place for delivery and he ordered the beef pho while I had the grilled pork vermicelli noodles. The delivery took forever to arrive (about an hour) and the food was just okay. My entree didn't have much meat so it was mostly noodles and it was quite flavorless. When comparing a pho place to the king of Pho in Elmhurst (Pho Banc), its just impossible really to measure up. For starters, most places like Banhmigos will serve maybe a dozen bowls of pho per day. A place like Pho Banc serves probably dozen bowls of pho every 30 minutes during lunch time. Vats of soup sit in the back waiting for the daily onslaught of inevitable customers. In short, a pho factory with the art of making pho down to a science. Banhmigos does its best to offer a hearty bowl of pho and the flavor is very good! The meat is also tasty, plenty of fat whether it was the short ribs or the regular sliced beef. They even serve you a bowl of pho with most of the traditional fixings: bean sprouts, basil leaves and a lemon wedge. Where they fall short is on a few factors: - Price. At $9.50 for a bowl of sliced beef pho, this is about $3 more expensive than a bowl at Pho Banc. - Soup. While the soup flavor was very good, it still didn't quite match the aroma of the one at Pho Banc. Also, it was really, really greasy. I think they skipped the part where you skim the animal fat off the top. - Not enough meat. At the end of the day, the above factors are pretty much out of their control. They have to charge a higher price for the pho, due to the inability to achieve economy of scale (not enough demand to warrant mass production of materials). And also the lack of scale means that the soup isn't made with the same attention at a high-volume pho serving eatery. For a quick pho fix, Banhmigos offers an overpriced, fatty soup imitation of the real thing. But when compared to the King, Banhmigos clearly comes up short and only warrants about 3.5 stars. read more

This is a small no frills kinda place. I think one of the signs of a good bahn mi is the bread and bread was nice and soft. The chicken on rice was also a good value for money. My favorite thing was the Thai iced tea. It seemed like the blended it so it was light and frothy. The person at the counter was nice and accommodating, a good simple place for lunch. read more

Nowhere I've found in NYC can compete with West Coast banh mi on price or quality, but Banhmigos is solid and definitely better than that other Banh Mi Place on Washington. This location had to work out some kinks, especially with regard to delivery, when they first opened but after having been in business for a while they've hit their stride. We were on our way to somewhere when we passed this spot and I insisted that we stop and grab a bite! And it was probably one of the best decision ever on a hot summer day in Brooklyn. The decor of this joint is pretty cool and modern. There is a huge lit up BANHMIGOS sign in the dining area. I only tried the banh mi which was 4/5 stars. I wish I could give this place a better review but the service is disappointing. The food is generally okay but definitely has some standouts - the classic banh mi, the shrimp rolls. The drinks and pho were less appetizing. The worst part of everything is that the delivery here almost always arrives after the estimated time, so that means the food takes close to 1.5 - 2 hours to get to you, which is insane. The prices are also a little more expensive than places with better food and better service (notably, Banh Mi Place) so while I may eat here again if desperately craving Vietnamese food, this wouldn't be my go-to spot. read more

Tried Banhmigos for the first time yesterday, and overall was pretty impressed. I've had my fair share of Banhmi from all over, and their sandwiches are good. The taco I had was even better, however. I ordered a portabella sandwich and the veggie chicken tacos (this was a delivery order, and it arrived on time as promised) The veggie chicken tacos were absolutely incredible. This was the first time I have ever tried vietnamese tacos! 5 stars for this one, for sure. Incredible soy-meat that had me doing double takes just to make sure it wasn't real meat (it wasn't!) Also, great balance of spices and a large pile of pickled veggies and cilantro on each taco. These made me wish I had ordered more than one order, as my sandwich was definitely lacking when compared to these amazing tacos. (Perhaps it was just because their vegetarian chicken is way better than their portabella mushroom!) The Portabella mushroom banhmi sandwich was average at best. The bread was fantastic, and the sandwich was well-spiced. However, it was lacking in the substance area, and felt awfully light, especially for a sandwich with no meat. Attention should be paid to making sure these mushrooms sandwiches have an adequate amount of substance to make up for the lack of meat or main protein. I give this sandwich 3 stars, hence meeting in the middle for a 4-star review overall. I will be ordering again. The bread is undoubtedly what seals the deal on the sandwiches! read more

Shitty upstairs neighbor took my delivery :( and after some back and forth with person taking orders over the phone we sorted it and I got my food re-delivered and quick :) Thank you for that! Ugh everything here is so fresh and tasty. I got a banh mi sandwich--super good and shared the shrimp rolls. The shrimp rolls were super fresh and refreshing and peanut sauce was pretty good too. Bubble tea was also tasty but in general, I always make sure to ask to no ice because places always overfill their drinks with ice. My mom got the vermicelli noodles with pork, also super tasty. My sister got the pho, which was also really good and she added an insane about of hot sauce but I tried it before that. Only issue is there is limited seating, but we were lucky to find seats.
