Bento Box lunch special by Aji Sushi Brooklyn NY
    Marie S.

Recommend the Bento Box specials - excellent value given the quality & amount of food. Last week I had the Teriyaki Lunch Special Bento box with salmon, miso soup and brown rice. For under 13$ I'd have to say it's an amazing deal ! The salmon was cooked perfectly & came with 2 shumai shrimp dumplings, 4 pieces of California roll, and steamed edamame, along with rice and miso soup. Delivery was quick too. I've tried the Thai food from here also, it's fine for a quick lunch, but the Bento box is such a better value it's no contest. I'm definitely getting the Bento box when I go here next time.

This restaurant is AMAZING!!! The employees is very nice! The food is delicious and tasty. Especially the bento box is a great deal! I will definitely come back.

Tasteless shumai. Maybe from a frozen supermarket?

I had the Crazy Spicy Roll, which does not have rice and only a sticky rice wrap. It might be okay if it was not delivered but since it was and in a small container.... it stuck together and broke apart when you try to separate them. They need a leave in between the pieces. But the sushi itself was a huge mess of what ever mush. It was not remotely spicy. I felt like there was no distinction in the fish. The tempura sesame flakes on top was kind of interesting but added to the 'sloppiness' of the sushi. It might have been better with rice... I also had the shumai. Tiny and flavorless little pork pieces. Tasted like it was from a frozen supermarket. The Thai ice tea was the best part of my meal. Wish it was still iced since the delivery guy was so late and also didn't listen to me on the phone as to where I was.

    My entire order.

I ordered this via Grubhub and the delivery was quick and easy. This is my first time ordering from this restaurant. In summary, I got spicy crunchy salmon roll (see the photo attached you will find a 1.5cm hard plastic that could've injured me, and the taste was plain, but I think this is better than the other reviewer finding a staples), eel avocado roll (as you can see in the picture, the ratio of avocado: eel is like 80:20, this is disappointing), lobster tempura roll (it was average and way overpriced), pad thai (actually really flavorful), korean style stir-fried glass noodle (not bad, pretty flavorful as well), and Mille crepe cakes Mango (like another reviewer has pointed out, the size is tiny, also not sweet kind of bland, not worth it). That's about it. The price of the sushi are overpriced, but reasonable for the kitchen items. I would perhaps re-visit only for the kitchen items, definitely not for sushi.

Decent for a quick take out option. Sushi is fine. Drunken noodles are fine. Nothing to die for but its never been bad.

The fried rice is beyond lacking. There is no flavor and it doesn't have veggies. Go literally anywhere else!

Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

We started with the salmon belly carpaccio which I'd say isn't really a carpaccio because the salmon isn't sliced as thinly as you'd expect. But! I mention that just to set expectations. Nomenclature aside, it's an excellent appetizer. Served in a truffle and ponzu sauce, the salmon is lightly seared which yields two different textures to the fish. It practically melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this dish. For my entree I went with the trio don, which is 6 pieces of sashimi served over your choice of plain or sushi rice (sushi rice for me). The fish was fresh and flavorful. The portion was perfect for me. My boyfriend ordered a yellowtail roll and enjoyed that as well. We also shared a carafe of the cold house sake. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu. It's great for sharing and trying new dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable.

Lots of people came in and out for takeout orders so that seems to be more of the target audience. Service was quick and polite, we were there until 9:30 and they definitely seemed ready for us to be out of there before the 10PM closing time. As for the specialty rolls, there were some pretty creative options - don't shy away from seemingly odd combinations because the flavors really do work well together. I appreciated the rice:fish ratio on all the rolls, the rice was a thin layer letting the flavor of the other ingredients really come through. The plain spicy tuna roll on the other hand was filled with spicy tuna mixed with something crunchy - maybe puffed rice? It seemed to be an unnecessary filler, I would have preferred just fish. I enjoyed the Lovers Dream and Golden Sunset roll the most. While I was debating it while ordering, in hindsight I would definitely get two rolls per person, maybe more if you're really hungry.

The signature roll set had an assortment of interesting and unique rolls ranging from truffle to mango- my fave was the New York crunch w potato crisps on top. The tuna crispy rice was also a bit different- served as a tartare w crispy rice chips for dipping. Very crispy and tasty though! Service was super attentive and very welcoming.
