I have been here more times than I can count. This is my favorite spot in the area for brunch for a number of reasons. Their food is great, and they offer a wide selection. Tl;dr: it seems a fine place to hang out or drink, but the food left something to be desired. Service was friendly but slow. My party of 4 went for a late lunch around 2pm on a Sunday. I had the French dip with truffle fries. The sandwich was salty, burnt, and greasy, and the fries had way too much truffle oil. Another member had the meatballs, and she loved them. Another member had the chicken Caesar salad, it was ok but lackluster. The fourth was a child and ate off our plates. Overall I don't recommend going here specifically for the food. We didn't drink alcohol so I can't comment on the beer. read more

After so many locals recommended BB, I finally stop by on a Tuesday at opening hour, hoping it would be slower. I think I was the 3rd customer, and was seated quickly. Seemed to be a new, yet enthusiastic waitstaff member. I have eaten Cubano sandwiches around DFW Metroplex, in my own continuous search for the legit Miami version. I found it at The Latin Pig in Plano, TX. Now, it is Bankhead's turn to top it. I have to reveal this was a big letdown, a dry, dry, Cubano made of leftovers, it seemed. Truffle Fries were oil-soaked, and just not flavorful. A Cubano sandwich gets savor from carmelized ham slice against juicy stewed seasoned pork, then provolone cheese against ballpark mustard, and juicy dill pickles. The pickle juice & mustard help the provolone flavor to release. Pepperoncini peppers on the side, Bamm! The BH Salad was much better, I got the small version. I would return for the larger version, and be happy. BEER: The long-winded "Longhorn Devil Went Down to Texas" Red Ale was decent. Next, the "Mile Marker 10 IPA" was not decent. All of my pics were super fast as we were gobbling down our dinner. We were a hungry bunch so forgive me. We had the BLTA dip and the fried pickles for starters. The dip and the garlic flatbread it's served with is so good!!! The pickles are spears which is my favorite of the fried pickles. I wish it came with ranch as well as the sriracha aioli. Our server was stretched too thin and they were cold before we ever got the ranch. For dinner, we had the rigatoni, Cajun shrimp risotto, the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich, the kids pepperoni pizza and the kids grilled cheese. Everyone enjoyed their food but the grilled cheese was a bit bland. It was a bad ratio of bread to cheese I think. The Nashville Chicken wasn't too spicy, so don't let the spice scare you off. Great recommendations and super friendly. Their pizzas were a highlight. Special mention for the taco pizza and the roasted brussel sprouts. A very good collection of beers - my personal favorite was the Longhorn Devil followed by the double IPA. The ambiance of the restaurant is really cool. Attended a Yelp Elite event at Bankhead Brewing and it was not a disappointment! Great ambiance, a smaller place, very cozy with just the right amount of light. It seems to be surprisingly difficult to get the lighting right, either bars are too dark or way too bright. I had the Longhorn Devil went down to Texas beer which was delicious, and a German dark ale which was also good though I can't remember what it was called. They have excellent pizza, fantastic brussel sprouts, and their brisket cheese fries were unbelievable! I honestly didn't think I would like them that much, I typically don't get any kind of beef on fries but I made an exception here, and I'm glad I did. I was feeling greedy and ended up sticking around after the Yelp Elite Event held here to order more food. And I'm so glad I did! Both my bartender, Eric, and the patrons that sat near me at the bar were soooo friendly! I truly felt as though I was a part of their "family" since they all happened to be regulars. One diner recommended the Harvest Salad, which was delish. The salmon was cooked to perfection. I also couldn't leave without trying the Lobster Mac & Cheese. And I got a small pizza. Let's just say I'm good on lunch and dinner for the next day. This is good eatin' I'd definitely make the trek here from McKinney. The food never gets old and there's always something new every week to eat ! The beers are always delicious from light beers to the hearty rich ones. Such delicious food!! My husband and I were invited to this place for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the beer and food were. We stopped by on a busy night but we're able to sit after about 15 mins of waiting by the bar. Our server was friendly and made sure we were always taken care of. Bankhead was recommended to us by a friend and we made the trip to check it out. It's located in a super cute area and the vibe is great. There was a pretty good wait to sit inside but they have an adorable patio that has seating open right away. The service was great and quick too. We started with brisket fries and 2 drafts. The beer is cold and great, the fries were amazing. We just planned to pop in for a quick bite but the appetizers were too good and the pizzas looked to die for. This is my neighborhood go to spot. I'm probably here every other week. That's how much we love this place. We get the white wine or a blonde beer. All the guys are very friendly and attentive and food always comes out quickly. My favorite plates lately are the carnivore pizza and the salmon with risotto. Love the burger with truffle fríes and their chicken salad as well. But the bread pudding is really the bomb and always messes up with my intention to keep a well balanced diet. Haven't been back to Rowlett in a few years. Nance took me to lunch at a place called Bankhead Brewing. Unfortunately we were in and out and I didn't pay much attention to their brewery portion of their establishment. I observed the large brewing tanks off the side of the restaurant. There's a large outdoor seating area that's also covered. There are plenty of indoor booths and tables with high ceilings and a bar on one side. We were promptly seated and our server arrived within minutes. Nance ordered the Triple Grind meatloaf and I asked for the Fish & Chips. It only took about 10 minutes for our entrees to arrive. I must admit I've never tasted meatloaf with the black pepper BBQ sauce but it was quite good (and interesting). The slight sourness of the BBQ sauce contrasted with the pepper on the meatloaf wasn't bad. I'm used to the good old brown gravy (not ketchup) on my meatloaf. It didn't need the creamed corn but the whipped mashed potatoes looked very creamy. I only took a small bite of Nance's 2 large portioned meatloafs. Some nicely cooked green beans also accompanied his entree. My Fish & Chips arrived as promised... deep fried. The cod filets had a nice flavor and as mentioned they were thickly battered and deep fried to a dark color... almost too much for me because the cod was almost dried out. I prefer the lightly battered variety if given the opportunity. The sweet potato fries were cooked to order and not overly salted. Served with a wedge of lemon and a small cup of their homemade remoulade which tasted fantastic, the fish and chips should be tried at least once. Our server checked on us and we had an otherwise nice lunch with good food. I would return and next time I'll try the meatloaf. read more

Came with a group of people. The atmosphere is great and we stuck around for quite a while. Food was not that good. I really like when my fish and chips are crispy/crunchy, but the outside is just soft batter. I ate it as soon as it arrived too. My fiancé got the wagyu burger and he wasn't a fan. He was hoping to get a juicy and greasy burger, so it wasn't what he had in mind. The Texas Twinkie is probably the worst one, lol! So I used to LOVE this place. We'd look forward to joining our family as often as we could for Friday night specials. Within the last year or so management changed, and it had gone DOWN HILL!! Their specials are average, the food is not as good quality and neither is the service. We attempted to plan to go one Friday recently, based off what their specials would be, and when called around 1:00, the person who answered was beyond rude and basically explained she couldn't tell us and that specials would be posted around 5pm... who waits that long, or won't even tell someone over the phone?? Other places have specials posted that morning in order to try and grab people to come in. This place USED to have them posted between 1-3pm before management changed. Even the photos of their specials have changed and don't even look or sound enjoyable anymore (hence my two examples , one being from tonight, and one from over a year ago [labled]). Their specials used to sound amazing , and left you wanting to order each and every one, and now they're catching attention 1/4 of the time. (An example and included photo is hamburger soup... literally looks like Lipton soup with some gnocchi thrown in.) Things like lamb chops, lobster bisque, and crab cakes used to come up often, and that isn't the case anymore. You can even see a difference in clients, as this place used to be PACKED by 5pm, and now it is barely full. I know I am not the only one who thinks this, as this used to be the go to spot for all Rowlett locals, but you'll find them in various places like Kaizen, Valentinos, or even trekking down to Rockwall to Zanata. Ownership needs to step back and look at what they've done.. The old manager put so much care and thought into the staff and restaurant as a whole! read more

During a recent visit to Plano, dropped in at Bankhead Brewery where a buddy's retirement party was held at. The location is great with lots of parking. There's both the indoor restaurant area as well as the outdoor patio area which is where the party would be. The guests were a lot of his coworkers and staff and I got to meet the majority of them who were great folks. The server gal was simply awesome and called her "Malia" because she was friendly, hard working, and displayed a personality of people from the 50th State. She worked hard to insure beverages and soft drinks were flowing and the staff assisted her with the food. Walked around the restaurant area and although I couldn't get into the room with the vats due to another function going on, still impressive to see through the full length glass windows. There was a full bar with seating and also sports on various TV sets. Bought a couple t shirts and although the staff was busy, they still managed to seat customers and find the shirts for me. Had a great time at Bankhead Brewery and being able to celebrate an epic milestone with Braddah Mike. Definitely recommended for both events and casual dining and will return if ever in Plano. read more
