Came through Gilroy on a road trip recently and tried out BanRasiya with the family. The owner, Ms.Preety was enthusiastic and helped us choose the authentic Banarasi cuisine items which is their specialty. Was blown away by the high quality food, kind service and some unique flavors that you don't get anywhere else in the Bay area that easily. Good ambience for sit down and plenty of nearby parking available. Loved the Litti chokha , Bedmi kachori with potato and the Chana Bhatura. The paan drink/thandai was delicious too. Bought 3 of the "pick 2" (sandwich and soup) and 1 whole sandwich. Total was $72. I initially thought that was a lot (prices not posted) but figured the portions must be large. After receiving our food, I realized the sandwiches were pretty small. The soup size was appropriate. Based on what we received, I believe the price was way too high. $18 for a small turkey sandwich is way too much. Unfortunately, we won't be back. The taste of the food was mediocre. Honestly, Panera is way better (and 1/2 the price). read more

Service was great. Our server (owner?) was so sweet and personable. We had the buffet for $20. I thought that was a great price. I had a little of everything. All were delicious and served with naan, salad and basmati. We had the peach tea which, for me, was too sweet but it had great flavor. I would like to come back and try the Indian street food with a cup of chai:) You know I have never been to India but I imagine the ambiance is like a cafe in India where students and professionals go to have a midday meal and get some caffeine in them to pursue the rest of their day :) Bollywood was on and there was Indian music in the background. read more

Stopped by here after a 7hr drive and everyone was starvinnnnnng! Walked in: ok (thinking) it's not gonna go great if the food sucks. Food: (1) packages naan: warmed with some butter put in Pyrex dishes, same with Pav for pavbhaji. (2) pani puris were stale (2a) pani from pani puri was smelt old. (3) raita: was off putting curd waaaay tooo sour (4) daal: hardly had salt (5) kheer: bubbling hot but waaay too sweet. (6) Samosa: prolly premade and heated up (7) some roll: prolly also premade and heated up. The Indian lady seemed short staffed as the other two girls weren't really helping her. But she was trying her best; this place definitely isn't a 4.5 star place. Our experience today = 1 star I'm not sure who had great food here...but it surely wasn't us. read more

Great place basically something for everybody I personally loved their roti's a lot and also their sambar a lot they also have good Pav bhaji which is really good another thing they do good at is their Pastrami sandwiches which is pretty flavorful and this place basically does amazing with both the only thing is there is some food in the menu that is not good like Pani Puri and Chole bhature that is not that good but that's really it would love to come here again read more

We ordered a spread of: Mutter Kachori with Aloo Sabji & Sattu Kachori with Baingan Bharta (Both were incredible) Chole Bhature and Lauki Daal Gulab Jamun for dessert Everything tasted like a home-cooked meal. A special shoutout to their house-made carrot and lime pickles--they complement the dishes perfectly! Beyond the food, the owner, Preeti, is a large-hearted and amazing host who makes you feel so welcome. They offer daily specials, so there is always a pleasant surprise waiting for you. The food was delicious, my new favorite place; if you call directly and ask for anything Priti will get it done for you, and even help you order the best food! I asked for: vegan, takeout containers with no plastic, enough food for my whole large family, with my non-veg sister getting the butter chicken and naan. Everyone loved it, we got veg biryani w tofu, plain roti, special roti without wheat (besan instead) chickpeas Chana masala and daal lentils. All spectacular. The coffee tasted fresh, the bacon was thick cut and flavorful, and everything came out fresh and satisfying. The service was quick and very welcoming! Prices were a little on the higher side, but the quality and atmosphere made it understandable -- especially if they're still somewhat new. Stumbled upon this charmer while in town. Upon entering the owner was very friendly and welcoming. I paid for the buffet--a reasonable $20--all made in small batches. The owner made sure to explain food i didnt know--much appreciated! Had the mango Lassi, as well as the naan and a yummy fermented yogurt bread...never had it and it was oh so deelish. This little gem just opened in Gilroy. The owner came out to greet us and talk to us about her food as we knew nothing about it. It was AMAZING. She gets all her spices at Indian shops in SJ and makes everything in house. The Naan was fire!! support local business and come have some amazing Indian food. Absolutely lovely ladies here making delicious food! I can't recommend them highly enough! I love Indian food and this exceeded my expectations in every way. I kept telling myself to eat half and enjoy the rest later; but I was unsuccessful and cleaned my plate. The restaurant is open and airy with a bit of outdoor seating. We had been to BanRasiya with family for lunch. We had the lunch buffet which was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! They served hot and fresh bature and poori, and had lots of vegetarian options in the buffet.
