    Vietnamese coffee

Tucked away in a cute little neighborhood, I was amazed by the front of the restaurant I decided to walk in and give it a try Coming from Santa Clara, I was tired in the early morning so I came here to see if they had some Vietnamese coffee, and so glad they did! This viet coffee is legit, as in it's super strong, not too sweet (which I like) and just overall STRONG. I was surprised at how strong it was, I couldn't even bear to think how crazy the Jonty coffee is with double caffeine. If you are into some real, phin viet coffee, they got it here!

More like janky eatery, am I right? Jonty's Vietnamese Eatery has long inhabited this kiosk-like space near the spot where the farmers market is held, and I finally decided to try it this trip back to Morgan Hill. After someone finding parking even on a market day, we walked over and ordered a few sandwiches ($12.95 each) to take home to try. I tried to give leeway since this is geographically far removed from San Jose, but what I tried was also culinarily removed from what I'm looking for in a good a Vietnamese sandwich. None of them had mayo or pate, so they were just too dry. The pickled veggies lacked both daikon and sugar. The proteins varied, with the steak feeling the most okay, the crispy pork belly not maintaining the crisp by the time I ate it, and the lemongrass pork gighly deficient in lemongrass. And Maggi seasoning sauce seemed to be a crutch in at least the pork belly sandwich when it should be a supporting flavor at best. Maybe there are more worthwhile options on the menu, like rice or noodle entrees with some other proteins, but Jonty's lists their sandwiches at the top of the menu, and what I tried simply didn't impress.

Jonty's Vietnamese Eaterly is a small food stand with patio area and long lines. It's a very popular spot and conveniently located, so that you can walk to the playground, train station, and downtown district. Not a dine-in indoor restaurant. You're eating outside in the open patio spaces. Plenty of big trees and tall plants here, so it's shady and cool. Order at front counter and expect a longer wait time sometimes. Utensils and trash bin is outside. It's next to the Saturday Farmer's Market too. Excellent location. I had the BBQ chicken topped onto my fresh salad greens with a house dressing. Yummy! I just wish it had more chicken meat on mine. Tasty and good. Thai tea was too sweet for me and the brew was strong. What a wake up call. High sugar afternoon, lol! There's plenty to choose from on menu and most people order the expensive Banh Mi sandwiches too. Not cheap. Staffs are organized and efficient. Good window service. Spot is cute! Tiny and still blooming with customers daily. Glad they survived the pandemic. All customers are happy here.

Great spot for a quick lunch! My husband discovered this place while traveling through Morgan Hill. If you're in the area and craving some delicious Vietnamese food, this is definitely worth a stop. The service was wonderful, and the food came out quickly. It's also family-friendly -- there's a park right next door for the kids to enjoy. Perfect place to grab a bite before catching the train or continuing your trip. Support small local businesses!

I used to find myself in Morgan Hill during the week often and Jonty's was one of my go-to lunch spots. I was so happy to be back in the area during their limited opening hours and even happier to find their food is still fantastic! The pork belly is soft and flavorful; the bread doesn't scratch up your mouth; and one banh mi is easily 1.5 meals. There are a decent number of outdoor tables available to eat at but only a few are covered. It's also literally at the train station so you can order something to go (if you give yourself enough time since the food is made to order).

I met a chef at this year's Morgan Hill Food & Wine Festival who asked about my favorite local entree -- he wasn't impressed with my answer (we both agreed I was what they call - basic, lol). He told me to check out the Banh Mi at Jonty's, so here I am. The Banh Mi sandwich comes on a French baguette with garlic, sautéed onions, cilantro, cucumber, jalapeño, and pickled carrots -- plus your choice of protein. I went with steak (should've gone pork belly, obviously, but tried to make a "healthier" Wednesday lunch choice). It was good -- solid flavors, great spice, and crunch. I'd give it about a 3/5, mostly because the steak could've been a little better quality. For a local Morgan Hill spot, Jonty's is a great, authentic Vietnamese find -- tucked away on Depot, surrounded by a variety of plants, with a simple patio of tables and benches. A nice lunch stop worth checking out. Safe to say, after this lunch, I've officially no longer basic! : )

Usually good service. Usually good food. Fast most of the time. By far my favorite restaurant to support in downtown MH.

I was very disappointed after eating at Jonty's. My companion raves about this place but he agreed that it was less than stellar this go around. I believe you can find better value and flavor elsewhere for a lot less money especially at $12 a sandwich. I was in Morgan Hill helping my companion and wanted a banh mi sandwich. We got one beef and one pork belly banh mi along with spring rolls. If you are going to get a sandwich there, get the pork belly and skip the beef. The spring rolls were good but nothing spectacular. It was your average spring roll. My companion got a Vietnamese Ice coffee. The emphasis was on the ice. He asked for "light ice" and got a drink full of ice cubes with very sparse liquid. They said the order would take 15 minutes but it seemed like a lot longer. It was busy with the farmers market on Saturday. I guess I'm used to faster service. Seating is only outdoors, there are no places indoor to sit. I would skip and try going to another place for lunch.

We ordered the tofu bahn mi, spring roll and noodle bowl. While we loved most of it, I wasn't a big fan of the basil tofu texture and flavor. The portions were great. The service was slower than expected and there isn't much of an ambiance considering it doesn't have indoor seating and is just a few picnic tables outside. The general vibe of the place is still nice.

We were greeted by a very friendly waitress. She said we could sit wherever we wanted, asked if we've been in before, and told us about the specials. The interior is cozy, it kind of reminded me of dive bar vibes. They have a lot of drinks on tap and some frozen slushies. I opted for organic iced tea since I don't drink. When I went to the bathroom, I noticed one of the slushies was non-alcoholic so I might try that next time. We ordered the Bourbon Bacon Burger with Chili Cheese Fries and the Supreme wood-fired pizza. The burger was fantastic! The BBQ sauce was delicious, the bacon and onion rings were crispy, and the fries were great. I enjoyed the chili, but I didn't think the cheese sauce or sour cream really stood out. I thought the crust on the pizza was perfect, I really enjoyed the wood-fired vibe and fresh toppings. This would probably be my favorite pizza if they used better mozzarella. For now, Bizza is holding the top spot for me since they use Butcher's Son mozzarella, and in my opinion, it's the best vegan mozzarella sub I've ever had from pizza spots so far. Even though I have notes, I still think the overall meal was a home run and the staff were super friendly so they get 5-stars in my book.

I wasn't sure what else was around in the bakery department, so my husband drove me down town to see what we could find. I spotted GVA and ran in right before closing as a last-resort, hoping they had something I could bring as a dessert to a friend's house. I caught the cashier while trying to get a quick bite, but she hurried to help (even with her mouth full, which I appreciated, being in a rush myself). She was very friendly and I got the chocolate chip cookies and biscottis I was hoping to find. The cookies were impressively big (my daughter told me they were as big as her head). We cut each cookie into 6 pieces so everyone could try the different types: chocolate chip, chocolate chocolate, and oatmeal, and then almond and chocolate biscottis.
