Cold weather called for pho soup. We wanted to check out a Vietnamese restaurant in the neighboring area of Gilroy that we have not had yet. We arrived at M Noodle & Cafe for a Friday dinner recently. The restaurant is located in a small plaza off Monterey Road and 10th street in Gilroy. Parking is accessible in the medium size parking lot. The restaurant is an adequate size with plenty of tables for dine in. There is a cultural modern decor that gave an authentic ambience. The vibe was family friendly and welcoming. They have been around for over 6 years now. We ordered vermicelli with bbq pork and shrimp, beef ball noodle, and a beef stew with tendon. Everything was delicious. The broth was warm and flavorful. The tendon beef and bbq pork was tender and juicy. Overall we enjoyed our experience at M Noodle & Cafe. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our food came out quick and the price point was fair. We hope to be back when we are in the area. read more

This place was so kind to take our party of 8 forty mins before they closed. Although I had my heart set on the vermicelli soup (they ran out of this noodle) I ordered the combo wonton and egg noodle bowl instead. And it was delicious especially after being outside on a cold night. The servings are very generous as 6 out of 8 of us had to take it home. Plus everyone really liked their soup as well. Seems like this is a family owned place as if it felt like I was visiting their home and receiving some homecooking. It is funny that they still have a Now Open sign outside though when I saw that the first review was 7 years ago. But I guess technically they are now open. lol read more

Large portions of standard Vietnamese fare in a no-frills setting. While the flavors are exactly as you'd expect (a good thing!), service could be improved. Our server never checked on us again after taking our order (another staff member dropped off our Vermicelli Noodle Bowls), and completely forgot our Milk Tea. Even after tracking him down to remind him, he didn't get it to our table until we were nearly finished eating, so we ended up taking it to go. read more

A good pho restaurant is hard to find in Gilroy. This establishment is a hidden gem. At the very south end of Gilroy you would not see it if you just drove by. However the Pho and spring rolls were excellent. Good size menu with lots of selections. It's a hole on the wall in a small strip mall but parking is ample and the interior has comfortable seating. Authentic Vietnamese food out in Gilroy. Good sized interior dining room that was clean. Had the bun thit nuong (grilled pork over vermicelli rice noodles). The grilled pork was very flavorful and the noodle bowl was large. They also have Boba drinks. I tried a Matcha and it was only average. Not great service as there was one guy making the drinks, manning the cash register, and attending to the dining room. Last week I was craving pad thai, nothing was around except for this place... BIG Mistake! Don't order Pad Thai from here. First off, it had no thai spices, lacked any flavor but was a sticky mess of congealed brown peanut butter paste that left me unimpressed and ashamed people call this Thai... a lime wedge would have been nice, but the lemon added a classy swing of inconsistency from traditional padthai... Very friendly staff and great Vietnamese food. I got the Hu Tieu with wontons and a side of eggrolls. Hu Tieu was huge so I ended up splitting it with my son. I normally cook my own soups but wanted a mommy and son day and this restaurant did not disappoint! read more

Came for the pho and it was okay, but lackluster compared to other pho spots in town. We also ordered a couple of egg rolls that were pretty good. We were greeted (presumably) by the owner who seemed personable and happy to host his customers, it gave the restaurant a welcoming and hospitable vibe. The food was fine but the prices did NOT reflect the quality. I will come back if I need to get something that is open later in the evening -- unlike the other pho spots in town-- but I think I'll try a different dish next time! read more

Fresh lemon water, extensive menu, and they have mill teas too! They absolutely give huge portions and they didnt hold back on the amount of meat/ingredients! This is our favorite go-to-place whenever we visit Gilroy. Fast and friendly service. Ambiance is okay. And food was great! This is my go-to when im in Gilroy, but yesterday was a disappointment for myself. I ordered a wonton noodle soup, with only chicken as a protein and asked if the wontons had shrimp I was told NO 2x but come to find out they did have shrimp and they also added so much beef into my soup (which I don't like) I ended up picking out so much food from my soup. So, after I got my SMOG certificate done, I decided to get some Vietnamese food. Thus, I got on my trusty YELP app and did a search. This place came up and figured I'd give it a try. I ordered the "Rice Vermicelli w/BBQ pork & egg roll $16.65. Pretty good and VERY filling! The egg roll was cook well, crispy but it kind of tasty doughy so kind of let down. Anyways, it's a cozy mom and pop's kind of place so give them a try and support your local small business! Also, their restroom was decent which is a fair reflection of the establishment. Review is based on an order placed Sunday evening. I called in an order which I was told would take about 15 minutes. I arrived just short of 20 mins to my order ready and waiting. My son was a fan of their combination chow mein until now. The noodles were crunchy and dry and the chow mein itself lacked flavor. The meat in the dish was tough and chewy, not what we've previously experienced. I ordered the combination #23 soup and the sliced meat in that was chew and tough as well. We got a hankering for some Vietnamese food on the way back from Pinnacles NP and found this restaurant thanks to Yelp. Really good food. We had the beef stew dish and fried rice, both good, and spring rolls, reasonably good. Service was efficient and the place was bright and pleasant - our only complaint about the environment would be the menus. Not the contents, but the outside of them - they were dirty and smudged and needed to be wiped down. Aside from that relatively minor issue, our one criticism would be the prices, although these are offset to a degree by the ample portions. Overall, we were quite pleased and wouldn't hesitate to return when we are in Gilroy again. read more

Well, go in if you want tasty, inexpensive, large plates of food. We were pleasantly surprised by this family-run operation. Hefty portions of noodles and made on premises smoothies. So, the rating and review has to be adjusted accordingly. Let's just say, if you are in Gilroy AND you have a HUGE HANKERING for vietnamese, this should hit the spot. Not like you got much choices, eh? The place was clean, but there were tons of flies all over the place. It's because it was hot that day, and they don't have AC. They instead kept all the doors open, and had fans blowing everywhere. This is NOT a place you'd want to take a date. I really liked my chicken plate. Although... truthfully, I did see some a weird tiny beige ant, crawling from underneath my salad. So... with that and having to wave my hands to scare the flies, kinda put a damper on my enjoyment. I had to constantly watch my food, lifting every piece of veggie carefully, to ensure I didn't eat any "extra protein". I usually like to just eat without a care in the world, but not this time. But the chicken itself was cooked very well, it was juicy and the sauce was very flavorful and sweet. They might have added some honey to it? Not sure, but it's sweeter than even teriyaki. My wife had the chicken pho. She read some previous reviews about MSG, but if anything, her soup NEEDED some MSG. She said it was pretty bland and tasteless. She had to add some soy sauce to hers. And if there's one thing you should know about my wife, she LIKES bland food. But she said the chicken was also cooked well, not dry at all. And they gave a lot of noodles, which she likes. It's just the soup base was meh. All in all... because it's the only Vietnamese place in the city, it gets 4 stars. Food quality was decent, and the price was reasonable for the portion size. Now this is a proper pho restaurant! Gilroy isn't known for necessarily fantastic food, but know when you leave, it's great value for a buck. This restaurant is quick to get you seated, but not in the fashion that they were uncaring. Our waiter was in and out like a whirlwind! Nice to see the younger crowd with some pep in their step. I can respect wanting to move quickly for the sake of customers wanting to enjoy time without anyone breathing down our necks. They were very considerate to consider some of the sitting abilities of the older gals in our Mahjong group. The rolls I was served had crisp vegetables and quality shrimp (not rubbery).
