Kofta pita, brussel sprouts, and soup
    Allison N.

I love Mediterranean food and was excited to check out Banzo based on the reviews. The hummus and pita were so delicious, although the falafel was a little bit too crunchy for me. Maybe it was cooked too long, I'm not sure. The kofta pita was extremely delicious and very filling. We also shared the soup and brussel sprout specials and while I would order the soup again, I would definitely not order the brussel sprouts...they were just too oily and really not good. Unfortunately they kind of spoiled the meal for us, although I would love to go back again and order some other items. One tricky thing is that if you don't know Mediterranean food it is hard to order because it's just words on a wall with no explanation as to what everything is. The ordering counter area is very small so it's awkward to take your time to study the menu and decide what to order. The food took quite a while to come considering there were only three small parties there (including us). I do like the atmosphere in the small dining room as it is very cute, it is quite dark at night though. The other dining room is very very bright, I wonder if they can work on making them a little more similar. Huge parking lot so parking is really easy. I recommend going, just check the menu ahead of time so you know what you want.

I was in town for a meeting and needed a place to grab some dinner. I looked up some options and I love Mediterranean food, so I decided to try this place. Ordering is easy - I walked in and placed my order and waited for it to be ready. I originally placed a to-go order, but then the day was nice and and the patio had space - so I took my to-go order and decided to eat on the patio. The place gradually became busier and I was glad I was early enough and decided to sit and enjoy a spot outdoors. Before ordering I had already done some research and decided to order one of the most popular items which was the F-Bomb Chicken rice bowl. The food was flavorful - the chicken tasted like curried chicken, the rice was subtle, and it was interesting to have that paired with the falafel and hummus and salad and with the sauces on top. It was satisfying and tasty and good.

Banzo has been one of my absolute favorite places to eat in Madison since high school, and it continues to impress me every time I visit. My mom and I stopped by right after my doctor's appointment, and it was exactly what I needed--the food, the atmosphere, and the incredible customer service completely lifted my energy. We both got the chicken and falafel platter, and it was just as amazing as I remembered. The falafel was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken was juicy, well-seasoned, and paired beautifully with the fresh sides. Everything on the plate was well-balanced, from the rice to the salads and sauces. The portions are generous, making it such a satisfying meal. I will say that over time the prices have gone up significantly while the portion remains the same but the food is still equally as good and its nice for a once in a while place when you want to treat yourself a little bit. Also during the summer the watermelon juice is so good. Beyond the food, the customer service was brilliant. The staff is always welcoming, friendly, and makes the whole experience even better. Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, Banzo never disappoints. If you're looking for fresh, flavorful Mediterranean food in Madison, this spot is a diamond.

My wife and I are travel nurses and every time we go to a new town we are always on the hunt for the best food options on yelp. The other night we found Banzo and decided to give it a shot. We're usually hesitant to try new Mediterranean because we have a few favorite restaurants that have set the bar high for all the others. That said, Banzo was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We ordered several sides; an f-bomb; and falafel pita and everything was just perfect! Driving home, we couldn't stop exclaiming to one another how impressed we were with the food quality and flavors as well as the overall dining experience! This place is a hidden gem- don't walk- RUN to Banzo's. You won't regret it! We will definitely be returning (weekly, if we can)!

I dined in on a weekday evening. The place had enough parking lot. I went for a chicken shawarma platter. Chicken had good flavor. The side of hummus was fine.

Stopped by for lunch and enjoyed the rice bowl with falafel and chicken shawarma. I've had their falafel a few years ago and forgot how tasty they were! The chicken was also very good and the hummus was spectacular. You also get to choose two sauces and I really liked the yogurt dill sauce. Will definitely be back!

Nice casual Mediterranean place. Order at the counter and they bring to the table. I initially sat inside but there was a very loud group so I moved to the patio where there was a very nice ambiance. I started with a cup of lentil soup and it was tasty. It came with some pita chips which were very tasty as well. I had a classic falafel in pita and it was very nice. I thought the portion was pretty big for a falafel. It had a good mix of ingredients. Would definitely come back again.

Had training nearby and first time trying this place. I LOVE Mediterranean food and miss those fresh hot bread. This place is kinda cozy but portions are smaller than I expected. All the sides were in plastic containers and wish they would offer something more eco friendly. Taste was mostly good but the hummus tasted a bit fermented (unsure why). My colleague said he didn't like the flavor of chicken thighs. I'd go back for the sides!

My in-laws live 2 blocks away. We have passed this place numerous times over the years and haven't tried it until now. I love it. I had the hummus platter with chick. It was so good. It is a very large portion; I ate about half. The hummus is smooth and creamy. The chicken has a great amount of spice that isn't over powering. I sampled my husband's lentil soup and it was delicious! Lentil as the base, carrots, Mediterranean spices and a variety of other beans. There was a variety of kombucha you purchase so we grabbed a can that is locally made. We also got some baklava for dessert and it was AMAZING! The staff were friendly and did a great job explaining the menu. We enjoyed our food outside on their deck. Lots of shade for those who don't want to fry in the sun. Can't wait to go back next time we're in town!

Everything about this place is great. The food, the service, the atmosphere. And it's located in a residential area. That's just charming.

The falafel in the pita sandwich was overcooked and tasted like old cooking oil. It was not pleasant at all.

The people working at the cart were really nice and accommodating, and were happy to modify any dish they could for ingredients that you can't or don't eat. The first thing I tried was the squash curry, which was a really generous portion size for $7, consisting of rice topped with a rich coconut milk-based curry filled with chicken, kabocha, and zucchini. It was really filling and tasty. But the real winner from the cart after a few visits was the avocado spring roll, which was $3.50 and the size of a burrito. It was basically a giant fresh roll filled with avocado, lettuce, cabbage, mint, rice noodles, cucumber, carrot, and peanut sauce. We got the medium spicy sauce, and it had a fantastic kick to it. Still can't believe something so large was only a few dollars, as it was such a great deal. Definitely worth trying this cart if you're looking for something to eat on campus.

Think vintage roadside charm colliding with Texas-sized Mexican soul, where the colorful lights glow overhead and every corner feels like a celebration of some sort. It's a little gritty, a little festive, and a whole lotta fun--like your favorite roadside pit stop got dressed up for a fiesta and decided never to go home. Expect bold colors, quirky details, Texas swagger, and an atmosphere that says "pull up a chair, grab a cold one, and stay awhile." I have to say their Cadillac Margarita rolls in with serious Texas-Mexican swagger. Made with Don Julio Reposado Tequila and a generous splash of Grand Marnier, this beauty is smooth, citrusy, and unapologetically grown-up. It's better than any Margarita I have had in quite a while. Tubbs Fajitas aren't like your typical sub-par fajitas, they come to the table sizzling, smoky, and ready to cause a little commotion. My favorite protein is the Green Chile Chicken, they let the sautéed peppers and onions bring that sweet, savory fajita magic to life, Texas style! Overall, this place is just a great time. It's colorful, quirky, loud in all the right ways, and packed with enough Texas-Mexican personality to keep things interesting. The food comes out hot and full of flavor, the margaritas are legit, and the atmosphere practically dares you not to have fun. Cheers!
