Unofficially the best place to be in Belmar, I had to see what the fuss was all about. I was meeting friends so that in itself was a puzzle because there's an outside, an outside stage, an inside bar, an inside bar by the stage, and it goes on. The place was large and busy so pro-tip, have your friend meet you outside first. The food was good. Go during Happy Hour. The prices inside were different from prices outside so plan accordingly. Overall, a good experience but the best part was the staff. UNBELIEVABLY, all so kind! Esp the dude that was serving us when we moved indoors. Wish I got his name because he was excellent!

Wait was reasonable! Really something that everyone should try at least once if coming to the area.

What is there to say about Bar A??? The biggest, happiest, most crowded, most exciting scene on the Jersey Shore. Nothing else compares or even comes close! Legend has it that the Fourth of July crowd was the single largest gathering in a bar in America. Eight bars, all different, sand bars, kiosks, dancing, picnicking , fun food, barbecue, etc. like a family gathering on a massive scale. If you can't have fun here, something is wrong with your life!

Very unassuming place from the outside but it's a real fun spot. Reasonably priced drinks, TVs, multiple hangout locations and bars. My friend has the shrimp cocktail and liked it a lot. Would def go back!

I'm in a mood so I'm gonna go on one today…read more The Grand Tavern is hands down the best restaurant in the area. My husband and I have been going here for years. We don't come as often as we used to because yes it is pricey but I would much rather come here and have a special night with incredible service, food, and drinks than still spend over $100 at another restaurant and get average food. The Grand Tavern is unpretentious, welcoming, entrees offer sizable portions. I have NEVER left hungry. Main complaints I see are price - again, yes it's expensive but it's worth it. Also you can see the menu before you go, how do you not know what you're walking into?? Complaints about the burger. First of all the menu changes seasonally. There's no way their patty is frozen. Everything is FRESH AF. And yeah, American cheese is king on a burger. Again, it's on the menu what did you expect? This is a restaurant that has literally never disappointed. I will always save my pennies for a great night out here. Everyone's entitled to their opinion obviously but entitlement is a hell of a drug. Check out the menu and have a great night.

The other 5 in my group enjoyed their drinks. Our server took our orders verbally, and all apps and mains came out without a hitch. No menus handed (they ask you to look at their website to choose!) and the menu is small, with specials limited to cocktails. It is dark and quite noisy (they did dial back the loudness after we asked) so keep that in mind.)

It truly felt like you were being transported to the 1920's when the staff brought us downstairs. The menu features many different speciality cocktails and includes a couple mocktail options. Right now they have a tiki theme, however, that's it in my opinion as far as draw to keep going there. The drinks are an overpriced smoke screen for people who want to waste money on a sugary drink. And it goes along with the whole Asbury Park eclectic vibe but most of the drinks have a 5 or more ingredients I never heard of (which is fine) but it waters down the drink. I don't want to have a drink (or pay $15+ for a drink) that tastes like a fruity cup of juice. As far as the limited food suggestions on the menu- only 2 or 3- this is the third time we've been there and they said they were out of food -so then take it off your menu if you can't be consistent!!! We're not just going to keep drinking without anything to eat to go along with it. As far as the service it's inconsistent, when we sat down there was only two of us- The server was very nice but we waited too long for our drinks. A party of 7 came in about 1/2 hour after us and they had their drinks within 5 minutes- that should never be. After one drink we got the check and we left, we are completely scratching it off our list, we will not return there. It does bum me out because it has such potential and there's nothing like it around but I'm not going to visit an establishment where I walk away feeling it was a waste of money.

Recommend checking for specials before you go - in June they had half-price entrées on Tuesdays. It seemed like a cool place to check out, but since I usually only went to the "Shore" during the afternoon, it never seemed like a viable option to visit, for live evening tunes, anyway. However, since I was recently staying nearby, I decided to make a night out of it, trying to get to the venue in time for a 9:00 pm band set time. We had met some local residents earlier in the day who warned us to get to The Columns early, as there was supposedly often a line to get in. That seemed absurd to us, but we decided to get there around 7:45 pm to have a safe runway before the show. Well, even getting there before 8:00 pm did not help us much. Our ride share dropped us off in front of the historic mansion with a giant wrap-around balcony, and there was already a line down the block. The crowd was young (think mid-20s) and many seemed comfortably familiar with the entrance process. In fact, I caught the girl in front of us suggesting that it was best to order drinks at the bar furthest from the stage, as it would be less crowded. I committed that note to memory and settled in for what I thought would be a lengthy wait to get inside. Thankfully the line moved quickly, and we were at the front of it within ten minutes. There was a $20 cover charge, and only cash was accepted. The staff at the door was very friendly, which helped ease the annoyance of the wait and the cost, however. Once inside, we headed to the left where there was a counter for ordering food and drinks. The food line was longer than the drink one, so we were quickly able to claim our mixed cocktails. The beverages were expensive, but served in large pint glasses, which helped minimize our need to fight the crowd for additional cocktails as the night progressed. That room also had a few tables and some loud DJ music as well. Once we had our drinks, we headed to the other side of the house where we had to push through a massive crowd to get passed two large bars and close to the stage in the back room. As the night went on, the floor became soaking wet from spilled drinks, the patrons were more intoxicated, and there was less space to move about. We tried to keep our cool and hold down our tight area without getting mixed up in all of the chaos, but we were growing frustrated that the band, The Nines, went on an hour after their scheduled time. Once they began, we enjoyed their talented tunes, but the sound system was staticky and not very clear. We stuck it out for another 45 minutes or so and then were ready to leave. While I appreciated that the floor staff was nice and continually cleaning trash off the floor, the place was just a bit over the top for us after our long morning trip to get down to that area, and we were exhausted by that point. The Columns was a beautiful venue with loads of character, and it offered an exciting evening atmosphere, but the cash-only requirement and young crowd made it not quite the right fit for us on a busy Saturday night.

Now what I will say is make sure you have your cash ready this is a cash only establishment which is not bad at all what you saw as a price is what you paid. Plus the specials that they had were cash only as well and they were worth the bucks. Nothing was too expensive great pricing I don't think I saw anything over $20. Plenty of drink options in the best little glasses that are complimentary of Ball, if you are familiar. As we arrive we met this really nice security guy super cool even came to check in on us at some point through the night an amazing bartender super cool great conversation great tattoos. Sorry I was tired so I didn't get a name but when you see him you will know it. So we did a little late night dipping and dabbing just got something light sweet chili wings perfectly cooked perfect flavor and adjust the right amount of sauce with the freshest celery and carrots! My partner was looking for something heavy so he indulged in the burger and the sweet tater w Pico queso. Delicious .. We remember seeing this place over the summer and all we remembered was a lot of people standing outside so we didn't realize what the bar was but this weekend we stopped in and were pleasantly surprised we will definitely be back and looking forward to it!
