Stinks, far too expensive. I am not sure why I am even wasting my time on this review. The one only reason this bar gets a second star is because it was actually open late. Dead though. 9 dollars for cheap light beers, poor service, awful music, and useless bar managers. A bunch of idiots standing around doing nothing. No one making an effort to show the patrons a good time. I hear they allow dogs which is a plus I guess. It's my first time coming to EJ's Tap house for a surprise bday get together for my boyfriend's Uncle Mimmy's 60th Birthday Party. My first impression was meeting Uncle Mimmy, he's so polite, nice & funny as hell, he's a nice person to be around. As a matter of fact, I met Amanda George's cousin, who is also so so nice, & Maryellen George's Auntie, she's also so sweet. Everyone in George's family is so so nice, polite and friendly; & also welcoming too. Anyways, when you go into EJ's Tap House, it's a nice bar area with a nice seating area to drink beers, or alcoholic beverages, non alcoholic beverages too & also play pool too. What's a trip to the shore without visiting Seaside Heights. We had driven down from Avon-by-the-Sea to spend an hour or two before driving down to Barnegate to meet up with friends for lunch. Unfortunately the weather had other plans and because most to all dining is now outdoors (thanks COVID-19) the lunch became a washout. So while walking the boardwalk umbrella in hand we found sanctuary in an open air but sheltered utopia providing thirsty travelers a place to rest their weary bones and quench the parched throats. All BS aside, a good place to sit drink and once again, people watch. They don't serve food here and I didn't ask if at one time they did. There's a stage with a drum set but a lady that was inquiring was told "no bands" at this time due to? You guessed it PANDEMIC! Live music tends to attract crowds so no can do. So speaking with the bouncer/greeter/sanitizing guy at the entrance. He told us that if we want to order food and eat at their tables that we can order at any of the close by restaurants and one of their waitress could bring it to us, or we could just get it ourselves. So off I went to forage while my wife waited patiently for my return. I would expect this place to do quite the business post pandemic and hope to be able to visit next summer and listen to some live entertainment. read more

SEASIDE HEIGHTS: located on the northern end of the boardwalk, and popular with locals, EJ's Tap House is a great place to have a drink. Both the inside and outside are dog friendly! The outside has views of the boardwalk and ocean. Inside has plenty of bar seating and pool tables. This is a great place to hang all year round and a good option for an indoor activity with your dog! read more

One of the only dive bars located right on the boardwalk. The bouncers are extremely nice and the bartenders always seem happy to serve. The drinks are inexpensive.. And the shots are a bargain! The other night, my friend and I started our bar crawl here. To start, we ordered two buds and a shaker filled with green tea shots. The total overall was only $16.00! The shaker had about 8 shots total inside! Absolutely one of the best deals shot wise you will find on the boardwalk! They also have a ping pong table and a ton of pool tables. The pool tables and pool sticks were extremely cheap. The tables were slanted and a lot of the sticks were broken. However, still a good way to pass the time with a friend. They also have both outdoor seating and indoor seating. No dress code, you can come here wearing literally anything. Overall, a good spot to stop in and get your drink on! read more

DO NOT WASTE your TIME or your MONEY stepping foot in this pitiful place. If zero stars was an option that would still be too high. EVERYTHING was POOR! Tables, floor, bar, bathroom absolutely filthy. Cash only in 2021??? I guess that is so you have to use the ATM they charge you to use. Then you get ripped off paying a fortune for a watered down drink. NO FOOD available. The music was awful and so loud it hurt your ears. Covid rules only seem to apply to those that are not regular customers. We were told to put our masks on but looked around and saw 90% of the people standing at the bar without masks. However, the WORST part about this place is the employees. They are down right classless and RUDE. Not sure how they make a living working for tips. 100% WORST establishment I have ever been to. My husband and I typically are not bar people but we are locals and took a walk on the boardwalk this beautiful summer night. A once a summer thing. However, we decided to stop in and hear the band which they were absolutely fabulous and stayed because of them. The service was terrible, bartenders were very rude. The brunette couldn't even be bothered and the blond who was running all over the place at one point said she would no longer serve me. We had bought a few drinks for other people and I wanted one more drink as it was getting late and she would not serve me. We were not belligerent or anything remotely uncivil. Scanned our IDs and payed to play pool while like half our party bought drinks. Come out of the bathroom and security demands we ALL buy drinks or leave immediately. We buy drinks to comply and they straight up take them out of our hands to get us to leave at exactly 1am after MAKING us buy them. Accuse us all of being underage despite our SCANNED IDs. Make whoever in our party who finished their drink LEAVE instead of letting us stay together to finish them while other customers are still drinking. One of the few remaining old fashioned rock-and-roll bars in Seaside, and it's right on the boardwalk. Beers aren't too expensive. They have pool tables and a patio. Live bands aren't always great but they're fun anyway. Last time I stopped by, however, the place was full of gang members. Also, a guy in an SS t-shirt. They were all minding their own business but I would hate to get caught in the crossfire if something went down. So you might want to steer clear unless you really enjoy living on the edge. read more

i like the dingy feel of this place. there is one long bar when you walk in, pool tables, and a ping pong table in the back, along with a few arcade games. we stopped in as the last place on our boardwalk beer crawl and enjoyed the beer special and a few games of ping pong. seems like the place you'd go to meet some drunk old men, or to watch the interesting crowd mingle about. read more

I really love this place as a summer hangout spot with friends. You have 2$ pints & 7$ pitchers everyday, you have 5 pool tables, a ping pong table, a few arcade classics in the back, and a jukebox that makes you feel like buying a harley and sporting some leather. This is a locals bar, you wont find too many obnoxious guidos in here. It has a bit of a "biker bar" feel. But the bartenders are friendly and its just a great no frills bar, what you see is what you get. Very professional, beyond friendly. I have a service dog that happens to be a mastiff/Pitbull. You could only imagine the size and how the norm would react. This place made us feel at home. The respect for his vest and admiration of his breed was greatly appreciated. The dive bar of the boardwalk! It's been renovated over the years, so it's not nearly as divey as before, but all the changes (minus drink prices) have been good (especially the bathrooms). They have a large deck on the side, which is great for people watching on the boardwalk. They feature more bands now, and because of the lay-out of the bar you can listen to the music and still have a conversation.Feel free to bring in food as well, it's a very laid back place. I give this bar a zero rating for the treatment that I received as I would from the experience say if you are of color you will not be served!! I went into said establishment with my friend at around 3:30 - 4:30 . We sat at the bar and were waiting patiently for the only female white bartender (And I am calling out her race so that no one can say "oh what if she was Black or Hispanic") to take our order. We sat there for a few minutes as she took orders from other patrons, and after she finished serving them she never came to where me and my friend were sitting. I politely tried to call her attention making eye contact and she just ignored us. This happened a total of 4 times and each time I made direct eye contact and made a slight gesture with my hand to call her attention and each time she made eye contact and made a stink face. She made it obvious that she saw us and was not happy to be there. There were patrons that go there after us and were (WHITE) and served right away. I tried to call this to the attention of security and asked for management but when security tried to justify her actions that's when we saw that this was a lost cause. If you are a person of color you will NOT be treated equally!! AVOID this bar!!! read more

It has been a long long time since I have visited Seaside Heights NJ. It will be an even longer time before I return. With that said if you are down there an want a cold beer EJ's is a good place to grab one or 10. They had a decent selection of craft beers, plus your typical crap overproduced American beer. But at $5 for a pint it really can't be beat. I enjoyed guzzling down quite a few Victory Summer Love Ales on tap. It didn't cost me an arm and a leg just a little liver damage but hey that's what transplants are for. On a scorching hot & humid Sunday in July I watched Croatia and Russia advance to the next round on Penalty kicks, in between I ventured out into the weirdness of Seaside Heights. Whenever in Seaside I make it a point to come here to kill some time shooting pool with friends and give my wallet a break! My only "complaint" is it's small and the pool-tables fill up quickly. They do not serve food here but you can grab whatever you want on the boardwalk and stop here with it. Customer service is not the best, beer kind of warm, belligerent drunks, no food available. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
