A hot Wednesday night. The band was setup inside due to impending storm. The place was not busy, not sure why. Maybe early? Anyway sat at the bar. Maybe there were 3 other folks there, a group of 4 or 5 sat at small tables by the band with their cute dog, great to see a dog friendly place like this (inside and outside). So even though I like this place alot ,the vibe was just off a little. We went on a Friday during happy hour and it was really slow. It was just us 3 there and maybe another guy. The drinks were great but the bartender was being held to one side of the bar due to a conversation with the other guy. I'm not mad cause it sound like the conversation was important but he could have shown a little more intrest in us . We didn't try any food or anything so I can't speak on that. I hate writing bad reviews HOWEVER this experience here was absolutely terrible and needs to be shared with others. Long story short... we experience quite a bit of discrimination during our short visit here. First, we walked in and was there was a group of 4 people just hanging out at the end of the bar... one of the other customers actually said hi to us as we sat down but nothing from any of the employees. Finally, after a good almost 10 minutes of us looking at the menu (which was already located on the bar) an employee walks up to us (white male with a pink Mohawk) don't know his name because he never introduced himself. Asked us if we knew what we wanted, we had quite a few questions... is there flights? Are we able to taste wines before buying a glass or bottle? He answered annoyingly at each of our questions, even walking away as we were still speaking. Gave us 2 wines to try & then told us he forgot to check our ids, made comments that he hopes we're over 21.. and I said you are more than welcomed to check our ids now.. he stated "it's too late, but I hope you aren't kids" umm excuseeeee me?! We both are in our thirties & that's just straight disrespectful. If we hadn't ordered food (which we wished we hadn't) we would have left then. The company he had at the bar (the group of 4 people) were extremely loud, having phone calls on speaker, they left & brought a dog in which the woman was literally running around with the dog. We love dogs however... there is a time & place for it. In addition, to the loud music they had playing that kept skipping. It definitely did not give the vibe of a "wine bar", it's such a shame because the decor gives you those feels but the environment and employees do not. However... an older white couple came in... they were greeted by multiple employees, given suggestions with wine options, tastes of not only different wines but liquors they asked about and checked on. A completely different experience than what we had... So... was it because the color of our skin? The fact we were lesbians? Or the fact that we looked "young"? Either way the discrimination here was apparent and after looking at other reviews this seems to be a common occurrence here. read more

Came here to enjoy a nice lunch while on vacation. Got two drinks, very average/ below average. Ordered the tuna poke tacos and a Caesar salad with steak. The tuna tacos were so small and only had three to four small cubes per taco. They were good, but for $18 a total rip off. The Caesar salad was fine, but the steak on top looked like it had already been chewed and spit out. It was fatty and unappealing. The total bill was $75. A total waste for bad food. Found this gem with nice wine options and a plus is the food, which is a nice compliment to the drinks. We made it a few minutes before 6pm so could order off of the happy hour menu! The bartender was great and offered suggestions. The other patrons appeared to be locals but I understand summer is crazy, busy. The food came out fresh and was very tasty. Chill, low key spot for drinks in Pier Village. They've got wine and lots of it! But you could have guessed that from the name. They also have beer, a great liquor selection, and light fare. This place has new owners who have changed the name (Lana) and raised prices. But it is still the same dive bar with terrible food open til 2am every night attracting drinkers, and smokers. It is the lowest crowd possible. Police are called regularly because of fights and drunk people shouting in the parking lot. Solid wine list, though you really want to go to the by the bottle list. The atmosphere seems pretty nice inside, and was good outside where we sat. Not the greatest setting for kids, though they do have enough in the way of options that kids will not go hungry. Adult choices are more geared towards wine pairings or appetizers than a full on meal for the most part, but the taste, spices and flavor profile was amazing on what we had. The Bruschetta in the trio and the chorizo and potato empanada were especially good as was the Brie (though it could use some fig jam to better balance). I will never step foot in this place ever again and pissed we wasted our time and money. I am from New Jersey and this was a bit unexpected. My wife and I were very uncomfortable. To believe we even serve a country who judges other humans based on the color of someone's skin is absolutely disheartening and ridiculous. I do not recommend this place to anyone it is more like a bar not a wine lounge, and highly recommend the owners of this establishment to train their employees and do a better screening. The Wine Loft is a nicely decorated space with a very well done interior and exterior, with only perhaps the lighting being a bit too bright and the television being a bit out of place. In what's emulating a more sophisticated space, I would think a TV would be a little off-putting, especially when playing an action movie on TNT... As for the wines: being the beverage Director of a Michelin rated restaurant in NYC, I think I know some things. There's a good chance I don't, but my 7 years in the restaurant business, a WSET III award in wines, and my certificate from the Court of Master Sommeliers would tell me that the wine my girlfriend ordered was at least 3 days old. Flat, acidic, and unpleasant, it was definitely NOT a fresh glass of Etna Rosso. The wine list is surprisingly stale, with a lot of uninteresting domestic options and no particularly interesting varietals. I hate the glassware. Far too thick and most wine bars opt for glassware that does not have a logo, as it can be considered a bit tacky. Sure they help the servers with pouring a proper 5oz, but that's something they should already be doing. Servers were very nice. Did not try any food. read more

Every night is happy hour (4-8 PM) and includes 1/2 price glasses of most wines as well as other drink specials! You can't beat it! The waitstaff is awesome and has a great knowledge of the wines. This was one of our stops during the recent Yelp Winter Staycation weekend and it was a perfect spot to pre-game before the big party that evening. We got there right at the start of the happy hour, 4pm, and grabbed a few seats at the bar alongside a few other Yelpers who also showed up early. Good thing we did, and planted ourselves there for the almost two hours, as by 5pm the place was packed with people from our group. I think the staff here was a bit overwhelmed and was not expecting this many people, but they worked hard and did the best they could. We never left the bar area and were treated really good. They gave a nice pour on the wines. Was supposed to be samplings but seemed more like half to full glasses. The bartenders knew their stuff and offered some perfect suggestions. Also ordered some of the bar foods such as one of their pizzas, and sliders which were both pretty solid. Plenty of seating around the bar, a lounge area up front, and an upstairs loft room with tables. Very comfortable and cozy wine bar decor. This is a great wine bar. I got here right at 4pm when they open and they made me feel very welcomed even if we were the only ones there and they were still setting up. I got to try a few reds as a recommendation of one of the bartenders and everyone was delicious. I really enjoyed that their wine pours were very generous and they have 1/2 all glass wines during happy hour and food specials. I got to try the spinach and artichoke dip and it was okay, I will stick to the wine. I wish I had a duplicate of this place near me! It is such a sexy looking place, as soon as you walk in, with gilded ceilings and romantically drapped curtains. There are some private corners for secret love affairs and a very social second floor full of comfy couches and a great view. We came to check out their wine tasting as part of the Yelp July in January event and were treated to our first round on the house. Sadly they were out of some bubbly, but I got a sweet moscato wine that was great. The wine list was extensive and would satisfy any wine drinker, with wines ranging from very affordable to sugar daddy prices. In addition to wines, they boast a full bar with a fun martini and cocktail list for happy hour at $5 - $7 a glass. I was even more grateful that their happy hour was 7 days a week and until 8 pm! So the hubby and I ordered some food as well. I got a bar pie with pepperoni and bacon and guoda sliders. The pizza was bar far my favorite, a thin crust and great sauce; also a decent size for sharing at only $6. The sliders were pretty overcooked, but had a good BBQ sauce and also only $6. Sadly, it seems like they were not prepared for the influx of people for the weekend because there was only one poor waitress running around not only serving but cleaning tables, and picking up cups everywhere. Unattentive staff, slow service! I came here last weekend based on a recommendation and found the place to be completely empty inside and a few folks seated outside. Upon entering, we had to ask whether we seat ourselves or should we wait for someone. The two staff members at the bar area said we could sit anywhere we like, so we sat upstairs. We waited and waited and no one came upstairs to provide menus or place an order. Eventually we gave up and went downstairs and experienced the same problem downstairs even though there was literally no one inside that the staff was busy attending to. I got the attention of one of the employees and she finally provided menus and took down our order! However, as the night progressed we began to realize that all of the bartenders AND manager were Clearly on some type of drugs. They took one of our credit cards at the bar and then began to say that they gave it back. Sure enough, afterthought manager literally accusing us of lying and "taking shit", they "found" the card. ADDITIONALLY, some other guy was trying to record us on his phone and coming into our seated area swirling his hand around and not making full sentences. The Wine Loft definitely offers the best happy hour by the beach. The atmosphere is elegant, relaxing, and a bit upscale. The lounge area has several leather couches and coffee tables. Typically when I go down the shore, particularly, Pier Village, finding a low-key hangout spot is difficult. The Wine Loft offers a great selection of wines as well as a full bar, and many small plates. They also have a great outdoor seating area right alongside the walkway of Pier Village. The service here is always up to par and I always leave happy. Like I said, their happy hour is a killer deal. They're the only establishment that I know of with a happy hour 7 days a week running from 4pm-8pm. Also, I must mention, their food here is pretty good! I really haven't had much from their menu, but the menu items that I did have were all great. For example, their bar pizza pies are $5 on happy hour and were fairly large and delicious. Also, I really enjoy their bacon and blue cheese sliders. All in all, The Wine Loft is an awesome place for a quick drink, bite, and/or happy hour. If you haven't tried this place yet, I suggest you do, especially if you're not sure where to go while down the shore. read more
