    ridiculous order of tenders!
    Jose R.

The tenders are less than 2 inches in length and if you notice there is a "tender" less than half inch considered a tender. Spent over $80 and really not worth it at all. Don't waste your time here people.

My review for this Bar B Cuties is based strictly on the drive-thru experiences. This is the second time I come to this particular location. The first time that I came here, it was my first time ever visiting a Bar B cuties franchise. It was already 10:00 PM, their closing time, but even though the doors to the venue had already been locked (my wife got down to check), we were allowed to go through the drive thru and place our order to go. The person at the window was courteous and attended us nicely. Being a first timer, I asked what was ordered the most. She told me about their specialty ribs and recommended the potato with meat. I went ahead with her recommendations and wasn't disappointed. Today, it is my second visit to this location, though I've now visited a separate location. I do see consistency in taste and in service. The drive thru hasn't been completely packed like it's competitor by Nolana usually is and they seem to have more variety. Overall, it's a great drive-thru experience.

Potato w brisket, tossed salad, bbq beans.

Loaded baked potato with brisket, side salad and baked beans. The loaded baked potato had cheese and chopped brisket. It came with a sweet barbecue sauce, onions, pickles and jalapeño. The side salad had a variety of lettuces, cabbage, carrots, cheese and Newman's Own salad dressing. Barbecue beans were great. Delivery took about 30 - 40 minutes and arrived at my hotel room door. McAllen has a lot of great places to eat and here is another one!

Pretty decent place for some bbq. It's all pretty good quality and tasty. The workers are friendly and the food is served quickly. They also have a nice little bar that has gone mostly unnoticed. Nothing fancy or crafty but you can grab a Dos Equis, a Shiner, a Stella all for $3.50 or under at regular price. They have happy hour all day Saturday and Sunday and in the afternoons normally. Really a very pleasant place to have a quick drink with a friend at a fair price without all the noise and distraction of a sports bar. Plus you can get some good bbq.

Bar-B-Cutie is one of my favorite BBQ places in town! The Pork nachos are out of this world! They are very generous with the meat they put on them, also i recommend the pulled pork sandwich, they also put a lot of meat on it! I recommend this place to anyone who's EXTRA hungry and feeling like binging on some good ole BBQ food. You CANNOT go wrong eating at Bar-B-Cutie. If you're strolling through the streets and don't know what to eat choose Bar-B-Cutie! You won't be disappointed :).

BBQ joints with a drive through in the city is a recipe for disaster; however, this one broke the mold. Great BBQ and service!

We also did a sample of the wings and decided they were amazing as well. We had excellent service. Our server was friendly and patiently answered all our questions. It was our first time there, but would not be our last. The owner or manager came to check on us to see how we enjoyed our food. This is another kudos for this management. Ambience was inviting. If we had been able to hang out longer, we would have enjoyed the patio/bar area. Maybe next time. If there was a negative, I would ask them to use something else for the paper on my tray. My paper was soaked through to the tray which is not appetizing to me. Perhaps butcher paper or parchment paper would solve the soak.

We chose a seat & the waitress came over with menus, we asked a couple of questions regarding food/drink (tea, potato salad & brisket chili) items & was told she didn't eat/drink those things so had no opinion/knowledge. Needless to say we ordered a 1/2 lb of both brisket & beef sausage, potato salad & brisket chili & 2 unsweetened iced teas. The brisket was closer to a slow cooker pot roast than smoked brisket. The potato salad I'm pretty was Reser's potato salad from the premade section at Walmart. The brisket chili had burger meat rather than pieces of brisket but it tasted ok. The beef sausage was the best part of the meal but it was just ok. The tea was terrible & tasted old. Our waitress was lacking in customer service granted she was working the bar with maybe 2 people in the area. Will we go back probably not.

Teddys BBQ: A Disappointing Experience Unworthy of the Top 50…read moreTeddys BBQ, a celebrated winner of the "Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Awards," arrived with high expectations that were, unfortunately, decimated by the actual experience. Arriving at 11:10 AM, just after opening, we anticipated fresh, high-quality smoked meats and homemade sides. What we received was an uninspiring meal that leads me to question the legitimacy of its Top 50 status--and frankly, its place in the Top 100. This visit was a letdown, especially compared to the twelve other far superior BBQ joints we tasted this past week. The Meats: Misses and One Minor Hit The foundation of the barbecue here was weak, suggesting corner-cutting or, worse, reheating of old product. * Brisket: This was the biggest disappointment. The slice was terrible--dry, lacking juice, and with a bark that was chewy rather than crisp. It looked and tasted suspiciously like leftovers reheated from the day before, which is unacceptable minutes after opening. * Ribs: Nothing special here. They lacked the depth of smoke flavor and suffered from a distracting, undesirable "hammy" taste. There wasn't much meat on the bone, and the glaze was applied too lightly, failing to add any necessary sweetness or texture. * Jalapeño Cheese Sausage: This was the sole highlight of the meat offerings. It was a nice standard sausage with a good peppery snap to the casing and a satisfying ooze of cheddar cheese. It offered a nice, reliable counterpoint to the lackluster smoked proteins. Failed Opportunity: The Texas Twinkie The infamous Texas Twinkie completely missed the mark. While the basic concept of a bacon-wrapped, cream-cheese-stuffed jalapeño is sound, the execution here was poor. The filling was overwhelmingly cream cheese, which completely sucked the flavor out of the jalapeño and bacon. It was a great opportunity wasted by failing to include a bit of smoked brisket or chicken to give it complexity. Sides: Bland, Bland, Bland The sides tasted uninspired, suggesting they were prepared from a can or box rather than crafted from scratch--an unforgivable sin for a purported Top 50 establishment. * Creamed Corn: It was creamy but utterly bland. It needed significant elevation--perhaps charring the corn kernels or adding some diced jalapeño pieces for heat and brightness. * Mexican Rice: This was mushy and flavorless. It desperately lacked the savory depth and spice expected of Mexican rice. A small addition of pork or brisket trimmings would have provided necessary flavor and prevented it from tasting so generic. Dessert: An Unprofessional Finish The Grapefruit Pie was the final letdown. The filling tasted okay, but the crust was clearly store-bought. To be considered a Texas elite, every component should be homemade and excellent. This felt like an amateur concession. Final Verdict Overall, Teddys BBQ was profoundly uninspiring. Given that we arrived right after opening, expecting the freshest quality, and having recently toured 12 genuinely great BBQ places, this location falls far short. It simply does not belong in the Top 50, or even the Top 100. Teddys has a lot of room for improvement if it wants to justify its ranking.

As someone who loves BBQ and has tried many places like Lone Star, Ace's, Reyna's, and even HEB, I was curious to see how this one compared. Unfortunately, it ended up being a huge disappointment--especially when it came to the sides, which were the worst I've ever had. What We Ordered: I ordered the Chicken Fajita plate, which comes with two sides (though I'm not sure if I paid extra for the drink). I chose macaroni and potato salad as my sides and even added an extra side of mashed potatoes to try more options. My fiancé ordered ribs with the same sides. Our total came out to about $38, which is pricey for two people. Service and Presentation: The food arrived less than five minutes after we sat down--red flag number one. At a sit-down restaurant, I expect fresh, hot food, not something prepared long before and left sitting around. To make matters worse, we were literally the only people in the restaurant, yet the food was served cold. The portion sizes were underwhelming for the price. The chicken was hard, old, and cold to the touch, although the flavor was decent. The tortillas were hot but hard as a rock, and the pico de gallo was served in a tiny condiment container. I didn't even bother trying it. The Sides: The mashed potatoes were runny and flavorless, as if they were overmixed. However, the gravy was a saving grace with its pieces of green peppers and onions, giving it a homestyle touch. The potato salad was sweet and gritty, likely from a bulk wholesale tub like the kind sold at HEB, and it was far from appetizing. The macaroni and cheese was the biggest offense. It came cold in a Styrofoam cup (as did all the sides), and I couldn't get past the weird, sour taste. It wasn't a sharp cheddar richness--it was sour, like someone added lemon to it. Oddly, my fiancé's macaroni didn't have the same sourness, but it was still bland and unappetizing. It's safe to say my 10-year old brother couldn't have messed up a microwave kraft cup more than they did with their "in house" recipe. I will give credit where it's due. The tea, the variety of sauces, the ribs, and the overall cleanliness of the dining area were all decent. Final Thoughts: In my short 25 years, I've never had such an unpleasant experience with food. I'm greatly dissatisfied and can only hope this was an isolated incident. My advice? Please consider revising the recipes for the above mentioned sides, especially the macaroni and cheese. I'm usually the kind of person who gives restaurants a second chance because I enjoy trying new places and I'm not picky. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back here. It's just not it.
