We've heard a lot about Bar Dough, so figured we'd give it a shot for dinner. It was much smaller than I was expecting and quite loud inside so I was happy we were able to sit outside on the patio. I got the Lavender Bees Knees which was tasty and refreshing. We then shared the Malfadine Bolognese and Diablo Bianco pizza. I think we both preferred the pizza over the pasta, the pizza was really good! The pasta was good, but we both agreed we would not get another white bolognese in the future. We knew that's what it was and neither had ever tried it before thus the reasoning for wanting to do so, but it was definitely not a traditional bolognese experience and was more olive-y then both of us would have liked. First time here for my birthday. Quite a loud atmosphere for a small cozy restaurant. I didn't mind it because the foods were on point. Restaurant got that dim lighting cozy date night vibe. Firstly, the meatballs are hefty and flavorful. The portion can be had as a small meal. The pizza had an interesting dough texture, a bit spongy and chewy. You can eat the whole thing and not notice which part is the crust! And lastly the cacio e pepe was a bit too bland for me. Our waiter was really tentative despite how busy it was. But that made up for the extra waiting, even though I had a reservation. The restaurant was nice enough to compensate the wait for free drinks. Not my favorite pasta place. My dish - the Bucatini All'Amatriciana - was something that was recommended to me as a pasta lover and I only ate half of it. Honestly, my favorite part of the meal was the bread (piada bread?). It was great but I was very jealous when I saw an order brought out with marinara sauce on the side - which wasn't an option on the menu and would've been pure perfection. We recently moved to the Highlands from LA and checked this spot out after a day hiking and leaf peeping in Breck (and very hungry). 10/10 hit the spot. The service was great, the cocktails and NA selections were great to start. We ordered the insalata, which had a lovely and unique pepperocini vinaigrette, the spicy white pie (Diavolo?) and cacio e pepe. All delicious. The pasta was off menu at the time, but they still made it. It definitely had more of a mac and cheese consistency, but it was delicious. This place has become a new favorite, from delicious food to the outstanding service. We came in on a crowded a Saturday night to find two seats at the bar, we were served there by Ramon and James and they made the experience amazing. Starting off with offering a free appetizer for our first visit, then offering tastings of wine to pick the right pairing for the meal and then complementary tasting of their stellar espresso martinis. With this and by being attentive, but relaxing, this was by far the best service we have ever received in downtown Denver. The diavolo pizza was the star, their dough is full of flavor and easily can be eaten without any toppings. The garlic bread comes with marinara to dip, but we also dipped into the cacio e Pepe sauce, once we devoured the fluffy handmade pasta, because it was so creamy and cheesy. Ordered the pappardelle to be delivered. All of the pastas on their menu are listed as "large" which made me think it would be a portion for two people AT LEAST. Especially for $28. It was enough for one person, but definitely not two, so why say it's a "large"? I think they should change that on the menu, as it was super disappointing. The pasta was more Al dente than it should've been in my opinion, and I love Al dente pasta! The flavor was way too lemony as well. Somehow missed the memo Bar Dough does brunch until walking past this weekend. We were some of the first in and had no wait and got a sunny table on the patio outside. The brunch menu is amazing - I'd seriously order any of the menu items with full confidence but settled on a breakfast classic. The eggs benedict was awesome. Fluffy poached eggs with a perfectly gooey center, a soft toasted english muffin, zippy hollandaise and sweet bacon jam underneath. It took me almost 5 year but I finally made it to Bar Dough. When we first moved to Denver we walked passed Bar Dough on a busy weekend night and the wait was insane. So sadly we didn't try again until this gloomy Sunday afternoon because a friend lives within walking distance. I am so happy, my mouth is happy, my belly is happy. Everything we had was so delicious. Our service was awesome from the time we walked in until the time we left. They were great in explaining the time difference from brunch to happy hour and let us wait to get items from the happy hour menu. We got the pasta carbonara and the shakshuka (brunch), then we got the pepperoni pizza and garlic bread (happy hour). We all had big eyes when we took a bit of the pasta! I was over the moon that this shakshuka didn't use feta cheese and instead had fontina, the crunchy bread was great but that garlic bread. Oh wow! Get that bread - who cares if it's $3 per slice, just do it. You won't be disappointed if you visit bar dough! And the happy hour menu might be small but so tasty and well priced. Every time I come here, I'm faced with a conundrum... the food here is always so good, but my service has never been more than subpar. Tonight was another example and after our last 3 times here, I finally decided to drop a review. We arrived and there was a mix up with our reservation. It happens and they were able to find us a table outside. We were sat and our server came over. She wasn't rude or anything, but very flat. She spent no time telling us about the menu and made us feel rushed. We knew what we wanted for the 3 of us: a pizza, bucatini, and garlic bread. The assumption was that it would all arrive at once so we could all eat together. It did not. First came the pizza... we waited for about 5 minutes hoping the rest the rest of the meal would arrive. About 20 minutes after our pizza, we asked our server about the rest of our meal. She seemed short and told us to basically wait because they were busy, 5 minutes later, our garlic bread arrived. So much for an app... and about 10 minutes after that, our final entree arrived. Yay! 30 minutes between our 2 entrees - the timing was pretty bad! The saving grace is that the bucatini is so yummy! But why not time our entrees together?! This is where I always have such a hard time! The food is good, but service stinks. Our server took our order, but never asked how any of our entrees were or even checked if we needed anything, our water glasses were empty mid meal, I was never asked if I wanted another glass of wine even though I tried to place it in a conspicuous place. There were a few bright spots where our waters were empty for 15 minutes and "another" person finally filled it. Also, for dessert, "another" server cleared our table and took our dessert order with such a positive attitude. "Another" server also came by and he was super friendly. This was immediately squashed when our original server dropped our check concurrent with our dessert. I guess no coffee for me. She also made a point to tell us we can tip more on top of the auto gratuity. Well, I didn't. She was pretty bad and did nothing to make us feel welcome. So, what to say after this... if you like good food, go here! The food is consistent and tasty (the bucatini is my fav - fresh, saucy, and fatty! Mmmm!). But don't expect to have decent service. Again, if this was an anomaly, I would not have dropped a review, but this is our standard experience. Will I return, maybe, but probably not. It was a little ho hum. We went here for our last night in Denver. I made a reservation through Open Table and it was one of those where they take your credit card to ensure you don't flake out. I think if you end up bailing on your reservation you pay a small fee. Annoying, but I understand it's starting to become the way many restaurants keep people from being flaky. We started with the meatball appetizer. It came as three meatballs, perfect since there was three of us. We each enjoyed a different pasta dish. My friend ordered the cannelloni and was bummed to see it arrive - it was definitely more of an appetizer portion.....but at an entree price! Service was ok - though the staff went back and forth on a few items and whether they were 'in stock' or not. My friend ended up missing out on the ricotta cheesecake because it was no longer available. One of the most disappointing experience I've had in LoHi. The place has a central location and good reviews, and was really busy. The interior looks modern and the food came with nice presentation. However, the flavor and value were really subpar. - Lemon chicken: just your average chicken with a splash of lemon juice on top. However, it was overwhelmingly salty and intolerable after the 2nd bite - Trofie pasta: salty, salty, salty! - mandatory 20% tips: the service was nice and friendly. However, it is really rare to see a mandatory tips of that high percentage. Why? - OVERALL VALUE: Extremely low! For $50 (entree and shared two apps, but no drinks), I was unhappy about the dishes, and forced to pay 20% tips, and got hungry again that night because of the small portions Fine dining should not be just small portion, high price, pretty plates, and a lot of salt. Maybe this place has great pizza (I can't speak to that), but please take it more seriously on the other entrees. Otherwise it's a waste of the central location, and a waste of customers' time and money :( read more

I hate giving bad reviews. And I would give 1 star but the young lady at the counter was fantastic! She was so so sweet, so she definitely boosted a star. She explained everything to us, made suggestions. Let us know how we could modify, and explained all the desserts! So lovely. However, the food was fine. We got a hot honey pizza and a cheese pizza. It was fine. The hot honey pizza was very salty, it was good but it was almost overwhelming that I couldn't even go back for more. And the cheese one lacked flavor. It was like two extremes in both pizzas. Not my favorite, to be honest. The dessert, though. I got a little celebration cake and it was good! Not sure if it's made in house but I liked it! read more

Bar Dough, you dog!! This is the foodie experience I have been looking for in Denver. An absolute gem for a date night or if you have guests visiting that you are trying to impress. My party sat at the chef's table where we were able to chat with the executive chef. Walking into their small venue made me feel like I was walking into a NYC restaurant. Every dish is curated by Chef Stefy and has so much flavor and is so unique. I absolutely loved the pesto dish I got and was amazed by how many NA options they had. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the service was great as well. If you're a foodie like me, definitely add this to your list! Have come here on several occasions for date nights, and even to experience their "greenhouse" prix fixe during covid-times. All have been a hit! They have excellent pizzas, and do well with their mains as well. The desserts I've had have also been amazing.
