Short rib dish was delicious! Spinach pasta was also amazing! Ambiance is really great Service was slow even on a slow night (monday night)...had to skip dessert because they took too long to come back.

Amazing ambiance, great service and superb food! Ever dish we got was 10 Out of 10! The pasta dishes were so fresh and the salad was the best salad we've ever had.

Bar Enza had pretty nice decor and was not too busy on a Friday evening. My friend and I first started off with the bread basket. The portion was not that big, but let me say, it was amazing. I fell in love with the focaccia. The outside was slightly crisp while the inside was soft and fluffy. It was quite oily and savory but paired amazingly with the dip. The bread was addicting; I was so disappointed that it only came with two pieces of focaccia. The cracker was also quite delicious. It was thin and broke easily with just a slight touch. Although crispy, it did not taste overly dry and paired well with the curried cheese. The radish and cucumbers tasted very fresh and delicious and complimented perfectly with the herbs. For our main dish, my friend went with their Lumache and I ordered the Whole Wheat Shells. The pasta was creamy and delicious. The squid was delicious as well. It was packed well with more squid, and the flavor was so good. The pasta was cooked perfectly as well. The shells were not bad, but I did find them slightly overcooked as some parts were a bit tough to chew on. Nonetheless, the crab meat was delicious, I found that the shells were overly stuffed with broccoli rabe and not much crab meat besides what was sprinkled on the outside. The sauce paired quite well with the dish. We ended our meal with dessert and ordered the tiramisu and apple torta. The tiramisu, although it looked pretty, tasted very disappointing. It had a strong taste of liquor which overpowered the dish. The apple torta, on the other hand, was delicious! The texture of the cake was solid and firm but not dry at all. The apple pieces were caramelized and tender. The glaze perfected this dish, making it a great way to end the meal. The service was not bad, though I found it pressuring how eager they were to remove the dishes from our tables. Overall, I enjoyed the dishes quite a lot and would love to come back to try their next seasonal menu.

In my opinion, very average Italian food. The pasta dishes weren't seasoned very well and lacked flavor overall. The pesto pasta was way too strong - it seemed as though the pesto wasn't diluted at all. The chicken entree I had was good but nothing spectacular. The sorbet tasted like lemon Italian ice. All good dishes but not worth the price in my opinion. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and furniture and staff were very very kind.

    Fried Calamari

Captivated by the breathless reviews ("Michelin star chef Mark Ladner returns home" etc...) we arrived promptly just after they opened at 5 on a Saturday night. We had no reservation, and it was completely empty. Nonetheless we were denied a table due to "serving issues" and sat at the bar, which was fine. Gazing around the bland mid-century modern decor, wife intoned, "calling all passengers" because it really has the feel of a nice-ish airport lounge. As customers filtered in, the ambiance became cozier and more interesting, a more crowded airport lounge. I don't know, maybe after only 2 1/2 weeks they are struggling to come into their own, but we weren't feeling it. Drinks fine but not memorable. Ciabatta sticks warm but the mascarpone olive oil mixture insanely salty. Fried Calamari too thickly breaded (felt like a waste of calories). The wheatberry dish was quite good, with a buttery cauliflower ragu, some rosemary but it needed much more flavor to be remarkable. Overall, a forgettable restaurant that wasn't bad, but wasn't very good.

    Delicious vegetarian summer corn tortelli
    Nicole L.

My husband and I went on a Monday so it was fairly quiet, and everything exceeded our expectations! We started with the awesome, warm fluffy focaccia with creamy whipped ricotta, lava salt, olive oil, and fennel pollen. My husband enjoyed the sirloin carpaccio with truffle, parmesan and sunchokes as well as the ricotta gnocchi with lobster and peas. The vegetarian pasta was REALLY good: corn tortelli with basil and roasted tomatoes (summery, buttery, and clearly hand made). We were too full for dessert, but the seasonal options looked great. Apparently their is a new chef (Tony Susi) so maybe more people will give this place a second chance!

Whole roasted dorade with artichokes and brown butter eel sauce

I dined at Bar Enza for the first time last night, attracted by their Feast of the Seven Fishes special... and was thoroughly impressed. Every dish was wonderfully seasoned, and the portions were more than enough for two people. The final course, the whole roasted dorade (pictured below), was an absolute show stopper, and I wish I could have taken the brown butter eel sauce home with me and bottled it up. The service was also excellent, with our waitress consistently serving and describing the wine pairings at the right times while the courses arrived at a perfect cadence. If you're not celebrating your holiday with this feast at Bar Enza, you're sorely missing out!

    Baked Fazzoletti

Cute place and it was easy to get reservations day of! The food was pretty good but we ordered items we typically don't eat. Prices were very high for the portions of the food, but everything was unique tasting and yummy. I would definitely recommend the baked fazzoletti, octopus, and basil panna cotta. The service was great as well. They changed our utensils and plates between each dish.

    Calamari and Arancini

**There is a new chef & menu!! The 100 layer lasagna is no longer on the menu.** We really wanted to try this place for the 100 layer lasagna but unfortunately they changed chefs very recently and was disappointed to see it not on the menu. However, we decided to stay and try out the new menu and ended up liking the dishes we ordered! Calamari had great flavor and the batter texture was perfect. Highly recommend. Steak was seasoned well and paired with a steak sauce - was actually medium rare. Bucatini pasta was creamy and Al dente. The frazzoli was unique! Like a pasta calzone, was worth trying. Portion sizes are on the smaller side which was surprising given the price. Might be a good option with a small group to try different dishes family style.

The old space felt warm, charming, and welcoming, and the food was consistently great. Since the move, we've tried giving the new location a fair chance and have visited three times. Unfortunately, the overall experience just hasn't been the same. The atmosphere feels much more corporate and lacks the warmth and character that made the original location special. Several menu items have changed, prices have increased significantly, and the food hasn't been as memorable as it once was. The biggest disappointment has been the service. During our most recent visit on a Friday night while my sister was in town, the service was noticeably poor. It felt like our server was simply going through the motions and didn't want to be there. Everyone has off days, but when you're paying premium prices for a night out, you expect at least a friendly and attentive experience. We typically enjoy supporting restaurants and are happy to tip generously when the service reflects the experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell far short of expectations. After several attempts to give the new location a chance, we've decided this will likely be our last visit. It's disappointing because we genuinely loved Posto for many years and had hoped the new location would capture some of what made the original so special.

The bread is always hot and fresh, which is a must for me at an Italian restaurant. My favorite thing about this place is that you can order "halves" of any pasta, so you can try two different pastas without committing to a huge portion of one. We absolutely love the rigatoni sausage truffle pasta -- it's easily my favorite dish here! We usually substitute the rigatoni for a different noodle, and it's perfect every time. The veal was probably my least favorite. It was pretty thick and wasn't crispy enough for my liking. Overall, a great spot for a fresh Italian meal, especially if you want to try a few different pastas and pair them with a good bottle of wine!

Toscano's is…read morea Square staple with an inviting interior featuring a robust menu anchored around their superb house-made pasta. Our server Miguel appeared promptly and took time to walk us through their extensive menu, taking time to field questions and spending extra time on their Daily Sheet. Since it was our last night in Cambridge we went for oysters to start. Their only choice was Barnstable Harbors from the Cape which did not disappoint. The Barnstables are noted for being sweet and meaty and these finished with notes of seaweed and cucumber. Though accompanied by mignonette and cocktail sauces we chose not to mar the delicate flavors and ate them as nature intended. We ordered the Spada Picatta from the Daily Sheet, as recommended by Miguel, and could not have been happier. the generous swordfish steak was seared to perfection and served with a lemon caper white wine sauce that complemented the delicate fish. We also ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese Blanco. A departure from the more traditional red Bolognese, this featured veal, pork, and beef simmered in a ricotta cream and herb sauce that was a graceful splash over perfectly al dente pasta. Toscano's has a compelling wine cellar and we opted for the 2022 Toscana Sangiovese from Il Nero Casanova at the Casanova Estate in Tuscany. Crafted by noted wine maker Giorgio Rivetti, this vintage spends a year in French oak before release. This is a full bodied wine with dark berries and cherries on the nose with hints of spice and orange peel in the velvety finish. Now, I realize this pairs perfectly with the Bolognese and less so with the swordfish but we couldn't resist a Casanova Sangiovese. We mentioned that we were leaving Boston after three weeks at Harvard's AI Institute so Miguel gifted us their signature Budino-style Tiramisu which was a superb exclamation point to a wonderful meal. As usual, we savored the tiramisu with double espressos with a twist. Toscano's is a wonderful trattoria at Harvard Square that we recommend highly!
