We had a girl dinner here and it was lovely! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is really pretty and super clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone had something different and it was all amazing. I had the gnocchi with chicken. It was so pillowy with a delicious cheese and potato filling. It had large pieces of chicken and peas. It was SO good. The dinner rolls were a favorite too. They were a cross between a bun and a biscuit. Yum! Oh! The arancini are a must order too. Our server was wonderful too. We all loved it.

No cherry or bitters old fashioned!

The calamari was top rate. Ordered 3 frozen drinks which came out different sizes but same price. $15 grilled cheese just bread with lots of cheese. Needed more besides taco cheese dip to make it worth it. Esquite and rice bowl was so small. Thought it was a joke. Ordered a brandy old fashioned and it was horrible. Brought it back to the bartender and told her to add muddled cherry, bitters and sour. She snapped back with that's not how an old fashioned it's made. She said it's brandy and sugar. Huh? [[HIGHLIGHT]]You used to have to wait for a patio table. We can understand how easy it was now to get a seat. Very sad.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hope they can figure it out to make it a must stop place on the lake again. Great pull tab dealer though! Paid for everything else that marginal and overpriced.

    Nice view!

Remember supper clubs? Great ambiance with lots of wood, superb steaks, chick, fish and seafood and views of the lake if you're lucky! This supper club fills the bill. Server has been there 15 years, so gave great guidance and we loved our choices! Special was fresh sea bass with mussels, Prohibited Black Rice, and veggie of the day. My friend ordered pistachio crusted walleye with corn risotto (she said it was good, but preferred normal risotto). It's a drive into northern Minnesota but well worth the scenery. Stay at Maddens or Craguns resorts for a nice break.

This was such an amazing supper club! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Reminds me of the old fine dining restaurants we loved![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live piano music, amazing food and drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great attentive wait staff. Grateful!

Lovely view in May, which is probably even prettier in the summer with leaves on the trees

Pros: Bar Harbor has a lovely ambiance of old-world elegance and a lake view. There isn't anywhere else in this area with such a warm, classy feel to it. Neutral: The food was fine but not brilliant. (Shrimp cocktail, dinner and side salads, walleye). Cons: The service was glacially slow, grouchy, and mistake-ridden. For instance, I ordered a Caesar salad without croutons, with anchovies, and the dressing on the side. When it came with croutons and dripping in dressing, I asked that it be sent back. "It's already made," my helpful server said. Really?!? She begrudgingly returned it and brought it back...still wrong (with croutons and without anchovies). It wasn't a complicated dish but it went wrong twice... I suppose we'll try it again and hope that we were just unlucky with the service, but I don't have high hopes given others' reviews

Such a beautiful view from the outdoor bar!!

Soo if you go here you HAVE TO TRY their frozen mojito!!!! It was sooo refreshing and probably the best cocktail I have had in my life!! Especially on a hot day yum!! Trust me on this GET IT!!!! You will NOT be disappointed!! Wish I could get that in Chicago ;).. but I shall be back!!

Excellent service, food, and drinks. Overall great vibe. For food, we started with a cup of clam chowder. We ordered the salmon and gnocchi and prime rib entrees. The entrees came with fresh bread and salad. Everything was really good and cooked perfectly. We didn't know what to expect but are so happy we stopped here for dinner! Highly recommend.

This place may be "good" for the area but it does not deserve an above average rating or your money and i'll tell you why. Service: First of all, I called two weeks in advance to make a reservation for 11 people. When I asked if we could be seated at 7 (2 hours before closing on a Friday night during off season) the lady laughed at me. I was told the LATEST a table of that size could be seated was 6:30. Seems a bit ridiculous.. but we adjusted plans to make it work.. This should've been the first red flag. When we arrived we were seated right away but we waited over half an hour for drinks, so, it was starting to make sense why they couldn't serve us in under 2 hours. sigh. Our waitress was visibly annoyed with us even though we were more than pleasant.. didn't want to be there I assume but that's not our problem. She took her sweet time with everything and did nothing to make our visit "above and beyond", not even offering to take a photo for us (i've had way better service where I live in Seattle where we are known for bad service, it's not expected in MN to be THIS bad..) Atmosphere: This place is priced and advertised as being a bit "upscale" and our group got gawked at for being dressed up by people 60+ in sweatpants eating warmed up halibut and crab. Again.. whatever.. but just was a weird vibe. Food: I mentioned i'm from Seattle, so my expectations were low for seafood here. But wow, i was still really disappointed. The crab cakes: probably the best thing we got. had to be drenched in the very little sauce they provide though. Escargot: Probably the worst i've ever had. Shrimp Pasta: Shrimp was so chewy and pasta over cooked I barely ate any of it. Should've gotten more crab cakes. The kicker here was I asked if I could get a dish with the rice side with NO mushrooms. I was told the rice is pre-made so they couldn't do no mushrooms. Are you kidding? We have to arrive 2.5 hours ahead for you to serve us, and the food is pre-made?? For the price point, things should be made to order.... No thank you! TLDR; Save your money, go somewhere else who cares about their customers and not just making money off of extremely overpriced frozen seafood.

Service was pretty rough from the start. Our server was friendly, but they spilled our drinks at the table and then had to take them back because they'd been made with bad milk. It took forever to get the first round and even longer to get the second. You'd think they'd move faster getting us the second round given the first was spilled and made with bad milk! Definitely a missed opportunity to make up for the poor overall service. The bread was the highlight of the night, which is very telling given it was standard crostini bread. That said, it was warm, fresh, and served with delicious butter. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn't live up to that start. The food took far, far, far too long to come out and when it finally did, it didn't all arrive together. Half the table started eating while the other half just sat and watched and continued to wait for their food to come. I thought they brought it out separately to serve things hot, but the food that was first brought out was only lukewarm. I got the steak sandwich, which was fine but pretty bland. Even the sauce couldn't save it... The fries were well-seasoned but soft and floppy, which just made them feel sad and unappealing. I had an espresso martini with dinner and it was basically a chocolate drink with no real espresso flavor. Overall, the setting was fine, but slow service, uneven timing, and subpar food made this a disappointing experience.

Karen Sposato, owner, and Eduardo Nogal, Director of Operations were both in attendance. Neither the food nor the wine disappointed! Chef Justin made an insanely delicious five course meal that hit every taste bud in all the right ways and the wine paired so perfectly with each course. I would say that the scallops were probably the best I've ever tasted and the short rib skewers were incredible, melt in your mouth. Lastly the dessert which the chef called milk cake was like a cross between Tres Leches and tiramisu. The cake layers soaked up the milky caramel sauce and it was sublime. As for the wines, the Chardonnay was my favorite of the whites, light on the palette and a bit of citrus and just a hint of oak. The Cabernet Franc was a knock it out of the park red. It had fruity flavors to begin and then turned dark and spicy with rich peppery flavors. We can't wait for the next wine dinner with the crew at Cru! Also, can't wait for our wine to be delivered!
