Back to the Wharf after many years. Picked a beautiful night to sit outside on the lawn. Waited a bit for service, but once it came it was great. Indulged in the fish & chips with upgrade to onion rings, and the Southwest Salad with a grilled blackened chicken breast. The cod was fresh, although the beer batter did not hold up. Onion rings were definitely house made and yummy. Highlight was the best ever tartar sauce. I could drink it. The salad was good; the blackened seasoning on the chicken could have been more defined. I grew up spending a month every summer on Lower Whitefish, and the Wharf was a place my older siblings and parents went to but I rarely did. That cabin was sold and we occasionally would return to the area but the group usually wanted to go elsewhere. I finally convinced my family to go here and it was great! Super busy when we got there but the service was solid. Kitchen was backed up but when we got out food it was delicious. I had a chicken salad on cranberry bread that was very good. The NA pina colada was tasty. Kiddo had the captains walleye sandwich and polished that sucker off. It was a great experience for all and I know we'll be back! read more

What a fun breakfast place! Up north for the weekend and came here for a delish bfast and an awesome bloody. This place has been here for ages and the views of the lake make it a perfect comfortable dining spot. Super friendly bartender got us set up right away and really speedy on the food. I went to the Wharf while I was in the area for a retreat. I want to start by saying that everything was completely fine... except for the the food, which in my mind is a bit of a dealbreaker. I have no complaints about the service, the location/vibe (great spot on the water), the portion size (big!), or prices (cheap). My friend and I both ordered pancakes and they tasted completely like baking soda (powder?). We tried drenching them in syrup, but the baking soda/powder flavor prevailed. Absolutely one of the top views on the chain to enjoy a meal! We were up North for the Summer and had several meals here. Service was always good. Staff is always friendly but seems to get younger every year (mostly high school/college aged). One of the times that we came was for a Power Loon (107.5 FM) promotion and that was fun. The host was the embodiment of Spuds MacKenzie. The food was consistent, but I'd skip the delicious fish tacos unless you don't mind having to use your fork to eat them after each tortilla immediately rips apart the first time you pick them up (tortillas need to be warmed before using them). Also, I appreciate that the Lobster Bisque has returned but where's the lobster? I miss the cuts of lobster that used to be included. Overall, the view of boats as they dock or steer through the channel is entertaining and the food is pricey but decent. This Summer, gas on the chain was less expensive at the Wharf than at nearby MarineMax. But Bertha Boatworks was the least expensive gas. read more

This place is a must when visiting cross lake! We've been here about two weeks now (after many years of visits) and its always a good time. The takeout minimized menu definitely impacted our food experience, but when it's fully functioning it's for sure tasty. Overall, I think breakfast is the biggest thing here and a regret of mine for not visiting this year. There's better dinner spots, but bang for your buck breakfast 100% comes from here! + outdoor seating is the best!!!! I want to start by first saying that the food and service is great here, however, my review is a bit lower due to this restaurant using all disposable products. I hope this restaurant will reconsider using all one time the disposable plastic products as these are horrible for the environment - especially considering they are located directly on the water. It also just creates a different feel when you are served your food on a real plate and a drink in an actual glass. Okay, back to the food and drinks. On my visit we ordered a mimosa and Bloody Mary - both were stellar. The bloody especially was one of the best I've ever had. I also ordered the shrimp po' boy and it was super tasty. We went to The Wharf a few times this summer and had great service and very good salads. I really enjoy their grilled chicken Caesar salad. They give you a nice size portion. The other amazing salad is the Walleye Cobb salad...the piece of walleye is quite large and very tasty. The atmosphere outside is always a plus. People sometimes bring their dog. We have NEVER been disappointed with our food and beverages at this long-standing restaurant. However, today we feel the need to comment on the service. Granted - it was Friday @ 2:00 p.m. We experienced gorgeous weather and lots of boat traffic. We were not alone in noticing the favorable weather/boating conditions. And we were not alone in choosing The Wharf for our lake access destination of choice. We were PROMPTLY greeted by a lovely young lady who offered us menus and took our drink requests. She was knowledgeable on the beers on tap, and made a great recommendation to suit our taste buds. Shortly, a broadly smiling, friendly male server came to take our food choice selection. GREAT JOB to whomever hired Matthew S. (from UST/Lower Hay Lake) and the freckled/dark auburn haired young lady who initially greeted us. P.S. love the new sprinkler system. NOT a fan all of the plastics employed in your tableware. Up your costs (add a surcharge, rather than reprinting menus) for biodegradable cups and straws. They call it spicy sausage?! We got the full and 4 of us were able to have it for breakfast. Now I would like to give 7 stars for the bloody mary. The garnishes? Out of this world! Beef stick, cocktail HUGE shrimp, olive, peppercini, pickle. The Mary itself - perfect! Spicy, tangy, delish! We also ate dinner there. Husband got the French dip and he liked it. I got the sirloin blackened. You have to specify Cajun style but it was a perfectly cooked Medium and the mea was great quality. I got a side of steamed veggies (yellow carrots and beans) and MN wild rice. MN is home of the wild rice, if you didn't know. We went to the wharf today around 4:00 and got a seat shortly. We tried going at 8:00 on forth of July but it was a 2 hour wait.A waitress was there shortly. The waitress was really nice. Before we ate I used the bathroom and it was amazingly dirty. It is also really dark in the bathroom. We got our food and it was really good. I got the kids burger with bacon tomatoes and lettuce with chips. My dad got the wharf burger with French fries. When he got it it was practically raw. He asked for lightly pink. Great spot! My friend and I spent a few days at a nearby cabin and stopped by on Tuesday at 11am on our way out of town. We opted to sit outside for the beautiful view and awesome weather (and social distancing). Our waiter was great, and super friendly (and if he was annoyed we showed up right when they opened, he hid it well, lol). My friend got the chicken strip basket with fries, and I got the lobster bisque, and fish and chips (but with fries, not actual potato chips). The bisque wasn't quite what I expected; it was pretty thick (even a tad gloopy), and didn't have much lobster or lobster flavor, but it was still good soup, lol, and we both enjoyed our baskets immensely! Super generous portions, and homemade ranch and delicious tarter sauce for dipping, too! We were very happy! It was really quiet too until we left just after noon when it started filling up. We'll be back when we come to stay in Crosslake next year! Tree House cabin and The Wharf are going to be a new autumn tradition! Last week my husband and I went to the Wharf. The Wharf's reputation of awful service continues! We decided to give it a try. We sat outside at a small table and waited 15 minutes before a server told us they don't serve small tables. We had to go inside and after another 20 minutes of waiting our server came and took our drink orders. We waited another 20 minutes for our drinks and we never saw her again! She never came back to take our food order. After waiting another 25 minutes we asked for our check and left. Needless to say we will NEVER return! read more

The past two times I have ordered a walleye sandwich, they have been under cooked, and the other meals I have ordered weren't that great either.
