Very chill vibes. Ordered a cute cocktail and then went to sit on their cozy couch. It seems like they have a lot of regulars every one seemed to know each other. They have a good mix of the classics and some special made drinks too.

This is an easy going neighborhood bar. Stopped by after dinner nearby for some drinks and conversation. We sat at the bar and enjoyed conversation with the bar tender and fellow patron. Was a nice time talking with new people and having laughs. Bar was kept clean all throughout! This bar has a charity drink. They pick a local charity and craft a drink around it. It was nice to be charitable while drinking. Good things can happen at a bar!

We've been going to Bar Mon Ami for years due to the excellent cocktails and service. This classy neighborhood bar has a quieter ambiance compared to other bars. You order at the bar as there is no table service. Carlos did a wonderful job with the Bohemian Rhapsody and Charity cocktail (part of proceeds donated to a local charity) we ordered. All of the ingredients are fresh and the flavor combinations in the drinks complemented each other. There are few bartenders (shout out to Joel) that I trust to make me any cocktail of their choice, but I have never been disappointed at Bar Mon Ami.

Cute bar off Broadway with plenty of parking. It's a bit hidden in the plaza and you could easily miss it. My friend recommended this place and I really enjoyed it! Sometimes there's a lively crowd and other times it's more laid back. It just seems to depend on the day. Really nice drink menu and the bartenders are super accommodating and helpful to recommend drinks you may enjoy.

The decor is cozy but not as fancy as other speakeasy bars and the bartender doesn't wear a uniform but the drinks are creative and excellently crafted. I had a concoction that had multiple liquors and an absinthe rinse. The bartender cautioned me the she only would make one an hour for the customer. She was absolutely right! Very strong, very delicious, so strong I forgot to take a picture or write down it's name. She made another creation she wanted feedback on and I absolutely enjoyed it was made with chocolate bitters-excellent! I will be back and see if I can actually remember what I ordered!

I had a great time at this chill, hidden neighborhood spot. There's plenty of parking, which is always a plus. Restrooms were clean and gender neutral. The bartender was friendly, took the time to chat with everyone, and clearly knew the locals. The evening my party visited, our bartender in particular was extremely knowledgeable about a wide variety of spirits and even crafted an excellent off-menu drink for me. While table service isn't available, it's easy enough to go to the bar to place your order. Each drink was well crafted with fresh ingredients, and tasted great. Selections were Killed By Death, a simple old fashion, followed by a paper plane and Smokin In The Boys Room. This was my first visit, and I look forward to coming back. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that many of the drinks had a bit too much lemon for my taste. Still, it was a solid experience overall!

Stopped here after dinner down the street. The drinks were good. But there is no menu, you just have to ask for something off top of your head. There is nothing special about it...no live music, no special decor or theme. So just like drinking at home, but more expensive.

    Lots to offer!

Very chill and tucked away on Broadway. Definitely deserves a stop over for drinks. Very professional. DOGs allowed inside (air conditioned). Done! This place is a repeat.

The Modernist -- A True Speakeasy Experience in San Antonio…read more If you're in downtown San Antonio, take a break from the River Walk and check out The Modernist. This is a true speakeasy-style lounge that's easy to overlook from the outside--it looks like a regular, unassuming place. But once you step inside, the atmosphere completely changes. The interior is cozy, intimate, and has that hidden-gem feeling you want from a speakeasy. The staff members are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I had the pleasure of having Adan behind the bar, and this guy knows how to make a good drink! As always, I started with my go-to Old Fashioned. I have to say, it was easily one of my top two Old Fashioneds I've ever had. Then I told Adan to surprise me, and he came up with some kind of peanut butter chocolate martini. Let me just say... it was a true pleasure. Rich, smooth, and absolutely delicious. What I really liked about The Modernist is that it feels like a place the locals actually frequent rather than just another tourist spot. I genuinely had a great time here. If you're visiting San Antonio and find yourself downtown, give The Modernist a try. Step away from the River Walk for a little while--you might just discover your new favorite spot.

There wasn't a drink menu, and…read morewe were told the idea is that you tell the bartender what you like and they make something for you. Her first drink was a lavender-style cocktail and was fine. For her second drink, she told the bartender to surprise her. He gave her a look and asked more than once if she was sure she wanted him to surprise her. Instead of making her an actual cocktail, he poured her what seemed to be a straight, extremely bitter liqueur. The whole interaction felt sarcastic and like he was intentionally messing with her rather than trying to make her something she would enjoy. What bothered me most was the attitude behind it. We weren't being rude, demanding, or causing problems. We were there to have a good time and experience the whole "tell us what you like and we'll make you something" concept. I did call the number listed for the business afterward trying to speak to someone about it. The person who answered said I had the wrong number and didn't know what I was talking about. I got angry during that call and said some things I shouldn't have, and I can admit that. But that doesn't change how disappointing the experience at the bar was. We expected a creative and welcoming experience and instead left feeling like my wife had been mocked. I hope management sees this and addresses it, because the concept of the place is great, but the way we were treated completely ruined it for us

So I went to Bar 1919 in Southtown, a tucked-away speakeasy-style bar. I'd heard it could be difficult to find, and that mystery is part of the charm. Once I stepped inside, I was struck by how polished and inviting it felt: low amber lighting, dark wood, intimate seating, and a quiet hum of conversation that made the room feel removed from the rest of the city. The atmosphere was elegant without feeling stiff. The dim light glowed against the bar, and the cozy layout made it easy to settle in. There was something satisfying about searching for the entrance and then emerging into such a carefully designed space. [NAME] took care of me, and the service was warm and attentive. I was there by myself, but I never felt awkward sitting alone. The bartender checked in without hovering and made the experience feel relaxed from beginning to end. He also made me a from-scratch cocktail. [COCKTAIL NAME/INGREDIENTS] The drink was beautifully balanced, with [YOUR WORDS ABOUT THE TASTE/QUALITY OF THE DRINK]. The aroma rose from the glass before the first sip, and the flavors unfolded gradually rather than overwhelming one another. It tasted fresh, deliberate, and carefully prepared. I also had [FOOD], and [YOUR WORDS ABOUT THE FOOD]. The dish arrived [DESCRIBE PRESENTATION OR TEMPERATURE], with [DESCRIBE TEXTURE, AROMA, OR FLAVOR]. Each bite added another layer to the experience, and it paired especially well with the cocktail. Bar 1919 was exactly what I needed that night: a small escape with thoughtful service, a handcrafted drink, and satisfying food. The hidden entrance gives it a sense of discovery, while the intimate setting makes it easy to linger. Excellent idea.

The quail pops were a nice little appetizer although they could have used a bit more seasoning. I think the drink and app prices were very reasonable. Service was laid back and friendly. Maverick Distillery is housed in the old Lockwood National Bank, the first bank in Texas to allow women to open accounts without a man's permission. Their money was stored inside barrels in the bank vault. Today the bank vault has been repurposed into a small rick house, where barrels hold a different kind of currency. (The rest of their barrels are offsite in a more traditional rick house.) Once we were done upstairs in the private bar, we made our way down to that vault where we thieved directly from a barrel. Maverick is one of several distilleries along the Riverwalk, but the others don't appear to have mid-week experiences, which is a shame. Unfortunately, the experience changed once we were seated. Our waiter was incredibly short and came across as rude throughout the meal. When we asked for recommendations or some of his favorite menu items, his response was essentially, "I don't know what you like," rather than offering any guidance. The service somehow felt rushed even though the food itself came out slowly, and there were very few check-ins during the meal. When it came time for dessert, we asked to see a dessert menu and were simply told, "It's on the menu you have," which summed up the lack of hospitality we experienced at the table. I ordered the Mustang Chicken, and unfortunately it was very disappointing. The chicken was fatty, full of tendon, and tasted more like a frozen piece of chicken that had been dropped into a deep fryer than something I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. It's disappointing because the restaurant has a great atmosphere and our experience at the bar started off so well. Unfortunately, between the table service and the quality of the food, I would not recommend Cappy's based on this visit.
