I loved this bar!! It definitely had a very cozy and intimate atmosphere. With only 4 seats, a reservation is a must. We checked in at Fiorella, and they handed us a welcome drink with vermouth which was perfectly balanced. We got the flatbread and three drinks -- including South of Heaven and Teacher's Pet. I absolutely loved the South of Heaven and you couldn't really taste the alcohol. I'm big on fruitier drinks, so there were some great options. The bartender was super patient and walked us through the drinks so we could choose our favorite to order. The flatbread was unreal, it was soo soft and flavorful. While I do like the idea of this "secret" bar, the timing of the reservation system was confusing. I couldn't tell if they messed up our reservation or if the communication is always that way. They did send a free app to make up for it though. Drinks and bites were good! Been wanting to check this place out and there was a fair amount of availability so we got a reservation. Complimentary vermouth was a nice welcome. The bar itself was pretty cozy and had a good vibe. We got some arancini which was pretty good, although the mozzarella wasn't completely melted in one of them. Unfortunately I didn't think our cocktails were particularly tasty. I tried the Caprese Martini b/c it seemed unusual and while I didn't dislike it, it didn't really come together as a drink. Similar thing with the High Pony (I think that was the name? it had Suntory and peach) - nothing wrong with it, but it was just kind of straight-forward. Coming here is more for the novelty and the slight secrecy around going to a hidden bar within a restaurant. I didn't love the drink we got and it was a little overpriced, but it was a fun experience. RESERVATIONS Even though reservations were full online for Saturday evening, they do have five walk-in spots, which Fiorella can actually reserve for you. So when we got to Fiorella at 5:15pm for dinner, they put our name down for 2 spots at Bar Nonnina at 6:45pm. We finished dinner a little late, around 6:55pm, and there weren't spots yet available for us for 10 minutes. They felt bad for the wait and gave us free pre-mixed cocktails! That was very nice, although to be honest the cocktails weren't very good (too strong, not many interesting flavors). THE COST $21.42 total including tips for one drink. THE SERVICE The bartenders were friendly, we had a nice chat with them. I had high hopes for this spot after reading articles about its opening a few months ago. Sadly, Nonnina was a disappointment and no different than what most reviews claim about this bar. We were so happy to get a standing spot as a walk-in on a Friday evening at prime time, and made our way upstairs after our meal at Fiorella. We were given a welcome drink (can't remember what was inside it), which was a nice surprise, however things went south from there. I asked the bartender if the Slushy di Moderna was sweet and he advised that it wouldn't be, so I ordered it. Unfortunately, the cocktail was too sweet for my palette. My boyfriend ordered the Battle of Ivrea, which was better (I ended up drinking his). The bar itself is nothing special - just a storage room turned into a speakeasy with seating for ~14 people. But more upsetting is that the service in this intimate space was just awful! Even though we were standing right in front of the bartender, not once did he check in on us and how we liked our $16 drinks. We had to proactively ask for things like water and the check, even though there was a server standing alongside the bartender the entire time. Absolutely loved this spot. This speakeasy is super small but the ambiance and drinks are amazing. Ambiance is really cool/interesting in that there's only 2 tables and you can easily talk to the bartender about your drinks. The bartender was really chill and whipped up some insane cocktails. My favorite was the l'ombra which was chocolate yet refreshing at the same time. It was such an interesting flavor profile that was overall so smooth. We also had the scorpionno which was more of a desert drink. It had aperol spritz sorbet floating on top of the drink. I went with my boyfriend and we chatted it up with another couple who was at the same table. We tried all of the cocktails, and my favorite was the Scorppino & my bf's was the Galileo's Gaze. Scorppino is a dessert cocktail that has lemon sorbet, it was delicious! The small plates were good as well. We had the oysters and the focaccia. What a fun surprise: a hidden speakeasy tucked away above a restaurant in the Inner Sunset! Things started off great. We were greeted with a welcome cocktail, which was a nice little treat. Our group of 3 was led through the restaurant, up a stairwell and into a small, hidden bar area. Tiny, but beautiful. I ordered the cocktail flight, and my friends tried to as well but were told they couldn't because the other group next to us had and there weren't enough glasses in the bar....ok.... Drink change: they ordered the Wild Pony and South of Heaven and we also ordered a few appetizers. Everything we ordered was delicious, but we only stayed for one round of drinks because we quickly realized that the bartender that we were trapped inside this tiny room with was incredibly rude. My small group loved this spot! It's a little room with two tables and seating for maybe ten folks. We were the only ones there early one weeknight, and enjoyed visiting with the the enthusiastic bartender. Cocktail-wise, we especially liked the Galileo's Gaze, a delightful take on a negroni with strawberry infused gin, and bianco vermouth. Yum. The little welcome drink (? not sure what it was) was also tasty, and we very much appreciated the complementary taste of fig grappa as well. Food-wise, we liked the trout rilletes best, but the other dishes we had were also yummy (mozzarella/brown butter/anchovy bread and the potato croquettes). We'll definitely return! read more

Service was good, we were served 4 cocktails, 3 apps and were able to leave in 45min. Only negative was that it got warm in the small room once it filled up. Review concerns reception - reservation is non refundable, which is fine, but we asked to downsize the party from 4 to 3, they said no, we couldn't change reservation size to a smaller party. After trying to reach out over the phone to no avail, we were only able to communicate via email and weren't able to get a refund on the one head. While I understand it's an "intimate" bar experience, why not allow the downsize if it's not going to impact or cause excess to the overall headcount of the space? We came in for Valentine's day. What a perfect spot! Its a small dimly lit room with old Italian music playing. The bartender Laura suggested we try the special cocktails for that night and they were out of this world. The "Is This Love" was sweet and citrusy and the "Wild at Heart" had some crazy Italian amaro in it that I'd never heard of. 10/10 will be coming back here. Food was bomb too. read more

We invited friends to join us for dinner at Fiorella (it was very good) and surprised them with rezzies to have post-prandial drinks at the "secret bar" (Bar Nonnina) afterwards. The small, but comfortably intimate, space had (for us) a just-right volume of EDM-lite (is that a thing?) music. The overhead lights dance to the pulse of the (Hobart?) high-speed washer in the kitchen downstairs... it starts, the lights flicker with a speak-easy flare. The serving person was very friendly and attentive. The mixologist is, to my taste buds, a genius, able to describe clearly in writing the taste adventure you're about to have and, what an adventure it was. One of our group did opt to have their drink made at the main bar downstairs, but although clearly insulted at the diss, the mixologist dressed up his drink to better conform to their (mixologist's) aesthetic (to very good effect, he was chastened and sorry for the awkward choice). I understand how reservation work. You agree on a time and you show up. We showed up on time and they were table not ready as if we had done something wrong by showing up on time. The staff looked like they were trying to get us in and out as fast they could. Before we even sat down they were pushy to get us to order without much help on how the "experience" worked. They didn't go over the menu very well. Limited explanation of food and drinks. I just picked and hoped it would be okay. The food was tasty but really small portions. Don't come hungry. You will leave hungry. The room was really small and it could of been a closet. I wouldn't mind that if staff would of been more engaging. Instead they engaged on cleaning and getting us out. Review concerns the reception I received over the phone. I phoned in to ask for a modification in our reservation. Server who answered sounded like I was an interruption in their day. They got confused about the day of our reservation, and practically oozed impatience every time I asked something (eg. could you transfer the existing reservation?). Not a big deal for a normal eatery, but if you are selling a "thoughtful experience", well... Doesn't bode super well for the in-person experience. We will see! read more
