Came here to celebrate my wife's new job and the manager ruined our night. Similar to other reviews with low stars, our experience included rude staff. The host, who told us he was the general manager, was very rude to multiple guests. Maybe he was having a rough night, but I've never had service this poor in my entire life (not an exaggeration). Food was pretty good. We had the duck fat fries, burger, and two pieces of chicken. The burger was the standout. Our waiter was nice, and we didn't have problems with any other staff. I can say confidently though that I won't be returning to Horsefeather by choice after this experience. The seasoning on it was good, but I wasn't a fan of how short the fries were. The burger was good & the salad it came with was fine. On the other hand, the gochujang wings might've been one of the worst wing flavors I've had in a while. The wing itself was actually cooked well, but the gochujang glaze threw it off. What a quaint spot in Palo Alto. The decor looks thoughtful and modern, but homey. It has a beautiful bar area. The restaurant is in the Town and Country Village plaza so it's not too hard to find parking. It's in one of the corners of the plaza so it feels nicely tucked away. We decided to come for brunch on a Sunday and was seated right away. Their menu is small, but that means each option is unique. We got the BLT and the Soft Scramble. The BLT has their signature umami bacon, which is a candied bacon with an interesting seasoning that includes things like mushroom powder, seaweed powder, etc to give that "umami" flavor. The same side order wasn't on the San Francisco menu which forced me to try something new, & now their Shrimp Tacos are another one of my most-loved dishes. The thick homemade corn tortillas are the perfect vehicle for the plump shrimp, salsa verde, avocado, picked onions, & havarti; I was skeptical about cheese with seafood but it works here. Our other two dishes weren't as praiseworthy. The Loaded Birria Baked Potato was certainly tasty, & while I expected nothing less given its name, it did have "food coma" written all over it. The Crab Cakes were the worst of our trio -- heavy fry, no lump crab, & an overwhelmingly tangy sauce. Bright & airy atrium, which is in stark contrast to the dimly-lit restaurant interior. Reservation for 7:15 on a Wednesday and it was a full house. Great staff and friendly. Take a look at the food pictures and you see why one thing pops up above the rest. Stopped by Horsefeather for a happy hour while doing some on-the-go work since I'd seen that they advertise as a remote-work friendly space. Visited right in the middle of happy hour at 3 PM. The atrium was full when we arrived but inside seating was pretty empty - we got lucky though and managed to switch to an atrium table just a few minutes after being seated. The duck fat fries were subtly flavorful with this unique savory and kind of creamy flavor I can't super describe well, they weren't too salty but just right with some ketchup. The miso linguini was absolutely amazing. I'm not typically a big fan of miso but this wasn't overtly salty but I loved how you could taste the hint of lemon and that made it so much better. The shrimp was the best part of it though, it was cooked just right so it wasn't overcooked and too stiff, it was so delicious, tender, and chewy. The service was also impeccable as even though we were there relatively late and closer to closing time, the server didn't treat us with a hint of resentment or any disdain. Came around 10:30pm on a Sunday and it was packed!! Thankfully, we got the last 2 seater before the line formed. My partner and I came here for a casual dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the great presentation, delicious food, and reasonable prices! Horsefeather definitely made a good impression on us. What we ordered: + Spinach Miso Mushroom Linguine (3.5/5) + Double Cheeseburger (5/5) + Roasted Cauliflower (4.5/5) + Whiskey Butter Cake (5/5) + Sun Never Sets (5/5) + It Ain't Me Babe (6/5) For the entrees: I thought the Spinach Miso Mushroom Linguine (3.5/5) was just ok. The linguine was a bit stiff, there was barely any sauce or spinach or flavor, and the mushrooms felt rubbery. The Double Cheeseburger (5/5) was a pretty good cheeseburger, and the portion of fries was very large! For sides: The Roasted Cauliflower (4.5/5) is very tasty and refreshing, but needs to come with more sauce and salt. I would definitely reorder the Whiskey Butter Cake (5/5) again-- it was crunchy, sweet, fluffy... I'm drooling just thinking about it again. :3 For the cocktails: The Sun Never Sets (5/5) and It Ain't Me Babe (6/5) were both refreshing, fruity, sweet, and strong!! And at $16, it's such a steal for alcoholic drinks in the city. Horsefeather blew my expectations away! I loved this restaurant! It's super cute inside and the bar area was really nice. We ordered a few cocktails and wine which were all decent. However the duck fat fries were my favorite part. The fries were SOOOO good. Definitely order it. Overall would visit again! read more

Food, service and deffffinitely ambiance - Horsefeather on Divisadero checks all the boxes for a perfect late night dinner with great cocktails. We ordered the goat cheese artichoke dip and shared the miso mushroom carbonara, and we savored every bite. Let's dive in. Miso mushroom carbonara (9/10): The sauce was so creamy and cheesy and clinged to the noodle super well. Well portioned dish and I love the savory bites of the mushroom in between. Goat cheese artichoke dip (10/10): I'm a huuge fan of goat cheese and this dip had a perfect balance between the gamy taste of the cheese with the buttery artichoke. Bread was warm and paired well. We also had the Jack of Roses and the Birds of a Feather cocktail at $16 each. Both were really complex and tasty but we both preferred the Birds of a Feather! I'd say the best part of this place was the stellar and warm service and the unbeatable ambiance. The atmosphere is dimly lit, the ceiling is adorned with hanging vines, and the floor is bustling with people standing and chatting while sipping drinks. This was way better than I anticipated. Came on a Wednesday night and I was surprised by the amount of people there - luckily we had reservations. They let me sit even though I was early and I was the only one in my party there. Got seated in the outdoor area that was connected to the restaurant and it was great because inside sounded a bit too loud. The food was solid. I got the cheeseburger after reading that someone else recommended it and it was good. The pickles were yummy but I wish they gave more. The fries were sooo good - that touch of curry was great. My favorite dish though was the ceviche. I was so surprised because I didn't even want to try it but everyone else did so we got it. The flavors were delish & the chips that it came with were great.
