I got a non alcoholic drink called the phony negroni and it was surprisingly so good!! It had flavors reminiscent of chocolate and caramel to me. The space is super small so they only let in parties 4 or smaller. but once you're inside, they don't rush you at all. There was one bartender the whole time we were there and she was super friendly and funny. Service was very fast despite her being the only person working. Asked for waters bartender stated sure and walked away, bartender took a few shots of Mezcal, used the rest room then a few minutes later brought our waters a whole two steps over :) Wife ordered the Birds of Paradise, first edition she proclaimed was delicious. What a fun discovery this was! Tucked away in Hayes Valley, Linden Room feels like a true speakeasy with its intimate interior, hushed, cozy vibe, and great cocktails. The inside truly is tiny - there were about a dozen people in the bar when we arrived, and it felt packed! But it was very cozy, dimly lit, and with chill, vibey music greeting us as we entered. We were quickly served, and hovered at the standing area around the bar. We ordered the Ralphie Boy, Flor de Luna, and a negroni - all were absolutely delicious in their own way, though I think we all agreed the Ralphie Boy came out on top. While the menu isn't extensive, I get the strong impression based on how our drinks turned out that every single one is excellent. We didn't stay long as we had dinner plans to jet off to, but I am already looking forward to the next time we can have an extended stay here. My friend suggested popping in here for cocktails before dinner for a "speak-easy" experience. It's actually connected to the infamous Nightbird but has its own incognito entrance around the corner on Linden St. The atmosphere and vibe is a dimly lit, intimate setting with room for maybe 15 people if even that. Their website and cocktail menu actually says they cannot accommodate parties larger than four which is fair for the tiny space here. There is more standing room than seating. The cocktails are quite fancy and unique but are wonderfully enjoyable. I savored my honeydew highball, but as more people piled in after 8, it was getting a little too cozy for us- so one and done for us. Bartenders are super busy but were friendly and attentive. Drinks are pretty pricey here. The average $20 cocktail price + the current "SF Mandate" of 6% + regular tax (almost 9%) comes out to be the price of a decent meal in Chinatown. The Linden Room was somewhat hard to find unless you know where to go: in the alleyway there's a black unassuming door and it looks like the service entrance. Once you enter, the overall indoor space is dim and has a warm intimate vibe. Just note that since it is so small and can only seat 4-6 people + 8 more people standing, expect to have others be shoulder-to-shoulder no matter where you are and to have them overhear your conversation. I will say that cocktail wise, it is amazing. They're thoughtful and balanced with some unexpected combinations. If you like spirit forward drinks try a stirred whiskey or mezcal option. If you prefer something lighter go for one of the citrus forward gin cocktails. You can also tell the bartender what you like and let them help you make a custom drink! On Friday evening, at approximately 7:45, my party of five popped in to start our evening with a few drinks. The bartender, who was definitely not busy making drinks, asked in a very unfriendly manner how many were in our party. I told him five and he rudely responded that they only accepted parties of four and turned his back to us. There were only seven customers in the bar. I have been in the restaurant industry along with two others in our party for MANY years. Collectively, we own five restaurants and a large tequila distillery. I can honestly say I have not had a worse customer service experience. It prompted me to write my first Yelp review EVER. As of December 2022, my favorite cocktail is the Evening Dram, which features a high proof bourbon, oloroso sherry, dry curacao, chynar, maple, and candy cap (mushroom) bitters, barrel aged with a solera system. Truly magnificent. ($18) Mixologists are friendly and skilled. They are happy to create a custom cocktail for you based on your mood and preferences. I am giving this a four star and not a five because I have been here once and I had one cocktail which was the TCP. It was a vodka based cocktail and oh my god it was expertly crafted. This tiny cocktail lounge can be found through a hidden unmarked red door from the side of an alley. Because the bar is so small, there's limited seating; there's around only 10 seats, so you'll probably be awkwardly standing around with your drink in your hand while waiting for someone to leave. I came in around 9pm on a Saturday and was able to grab a seat after around 15 minutes. By the time it was 10pm, more people came in and the room was packed. I tried the Akashi and Tiger Lily. The Akashi is Japanese whiskey with a pretty strong smokey flavor. Tiger Lily is more subtle and sweet. Drinks here are a bit steep, but they are exceptional and top-notch. A decent bourbon taste with tons of berry flavor and a creamy, smokey egg white top. The space can get stuffy real quick. If you get hot easily like me, stand by the door, and crack it open slightly for a breeze. You'll also more than likely end up standing due to how limited the space is.
