This is by far my favorite bar in SF. I used to drive up here weekly with my coworkers for Friday nights almost 4 years ago. This place has not changed much (in a good way.) The atmosphere is so lovely, there's good music that gradually turned into old school hiphop as the night grew longer. The servers were so kind and came by all the time to refill water and make sure everyone was happy. Little shoutout to the server that took care of us all night Kimberly! She was so amazing and had the best service. (: It may be a bar but the food is so good, we got a little of everything to share. As a regular of lounge-style bars, this place has good lighting if you like taking pictures of your drinks, a good surprise! I really appreciate all the staff for being so kind and attentive on a busy Saturday night. We had a party of 12 that took up a little two-couch area with no issues at all! Cool bar with bites in the Mission District. We got there shortly after it opened at 4pm on Friday afternoon. I was craving a refreshing craft cocktail and got one with the Green Emmanuelle. I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on. read more

My friend and I popped in here before heading to dinner. I got the Beauty Mark, because I'm a sucker for anything with egg whites, and it was delicious! Super cute spot for drinks! We initially sat outside and loved the cozy patio vibes, but moved indoors once it got chillier and it was just as beautiful inside. Our server was incredibly attentive even though it was busy, and she did a great job explaining the menu and helping us choose drinks we'd enjoy. Servers were rude and the bartender seemed more interested chatting with servers than helping guests. I heard a server call a customer a offensive name behind the bar that I won't repeat. This is my favorite cocktail bar in the neighborhood! The Beauty Mark is my favorite drink here, and I love how well balanced it is. The lime adds just the right amount of tartness, and the egg whites provide such a great creamy texture to the drink. As for the food here, I've only tried the beef tallow fries, and they were so tasty. I'm not usually even a big fan of fries, but the fries here are so flavorful that I can't stop eating them. The only downside about this spot is that everyone else seems to know how amazing it is too because it's always crowded! Be prepared to wait, especially if you're visiting on the weekend. read more

Stopped into this darling bar after a recommendation, and it was lovely and poppin'. The strings of Christmas lights made the space extra festive! The space includes about a dozen barstools, and an extra room in the back for dining. We snagged a couple of seats at the bar top, and used the QR to peruse the menu. Need a pick me up, but also in the mood for a cocktail? Enter the perfectly shaken espresso martini that will check those boxes. The dry shake really does it, and the bartender was definitely on their A game. It was sadly missing the espresso bean garnish for Health, Wealth, and Happiness... but the foam was gorgeous. My partner chatted to one of them and he had run the bar at Local Edition - one of our favorite bars in SF - for 6 years! Total was $72 (including tax/tip) for 3 cocktails. On the pricey side but worth it for the occasional splurge. * The Beehive ($18) - 4 stars. The botanical gin really shines through, but it was also citrusy with a little bit of honey * Beauty Mark ($18) - 5 stars. I thought of that line from "All About Eve" when I walked into this stylish little retro-tinged bar because Margo's response was on point, "We're all in a beehive, pal, didn't you know? My stinger must've been out of whack because I just didn't feel all that comfortable since I gravitate more toward dives, tiki lounges, and oh yes, gay bars. What actually drew me in the first time was the sandwich board advertising their slushies. $17 was a lot for a slushy, so I asked the server what flavor it was. The bartender gave my friend's credit card to someone else, who left with it. The bartender was not apologetic at all; it seems this kind of thing happens often. She was pretty rude and nonchalant about it. The drinks themselves were unbalanced and fairly weak. The bathroom is so heavily scented (air freshener?) that I gagged and had to hold my breath. The only upside is that the space is pretty big and the music isn't so loud that you have to yell at each other. It is very dark inside though. read more

The cute decor is so fun to look at, the bartenders are always the absolute sweetest (so make sure you always sit at the bar!), and the cocktails are just so fun and swanky. They put so much care into creating your cocktails, so make sure you really take the time to enjoy them! Every time I come here, I try a different snack. I also look around to see what other people are ordering, and everyone gets different things, so I'd like to believe we're all in agreement - all of their snacks are divine! Today, my partner and I noshed on the cheese board. Perfect summertime snack because the fruit was honestly the best part! Really classy bar in Mission. Love the beehive theme and unique drinks. My drink was called the beauty mark, which did actually have a little beauty mark on the egg white foam! I thought that was so adorable. My friend ordered the thunderbird, which I actually liked a bit better than the beauty mark (hers was a bit sweeter, fruitier, and grapefruit flavored). Both drinks were really good though. I also love that their kitchen is open late. It's perfect if you love snacking on foods while drinking. We went around 12:30 and we were still able to place food orders! The pigs in a blanket were so yummy and warm, and come with a nice dijon mustard sauce. Their fries looked good too. Ambiance inside was nice and spacious, and service was attentive (we got water glasses right away after getting seated). A Fun Throwback Bar That Could Use a Little Breathing Room The Beehive is definitely a cool spot. The retro vibe is fun, the cocktails are creative, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into the whole experience. I've had some really great drinks here and the presentation always makes it feel worth it. That said, when it gets crowded, the ambiance takes a bit of a hit. What starts out as a fun, stylish atmosphere can quickly feel cramped and loud, which makes it harder to enjoy what they've built. For the price of the drinks, I think they could do a better job of limiting how many people come in once the space is full. It would make things way more enjoyable for the folks already inside, and keep that unique vibe intact. Overall, I still give it 3.5 (rounding up) stars because the drinks are excellent and the theme is fun, but I'd love to see them take that extra step to keep it less crowded. Friends and I were in the mission Sunday night and decided to hit up a chill bar. The Beehive seemed like a cute spot. Upon entering, we were greeted and asked if we wanted a table. They said it would take about 10 minutes for a table to be ready and welcomed us to sit at the seats facing the wall while we wait. Ordered a Miami Nice slushy and it was very strong. It seemed like they forgot we wanted a table because we were never moved and just had to sit where we were waiting. To be honest, I found this place when searching for pigs in a blanket. This place popped up and would have never guessed that a great cocktail bar would have these as snacks on the menu. They were delicious and disappeared so fast that I forgot take a photo of them. This is a beautiful space on Valencia for cocktails and snacks. Have been here twice now and both times were met with great service, whether it was an early evening or late night when it was packed! When i first went during the day i noticed how large the space is in the back but actually is but had no idea how packed it gets at night. I tried the Hound Dog cocktail which was very spirit forward yet balanced and with a hint of sweetness. The caramelized banana was also a satisfying end to the drink. This made the list of a personalized foot tour we created because of the cocktails advertised and it was better than advertised. We were served by Andres, who is one of mixologists under this umbrella or restaurant/bars, and he was an absolute wizard behind the bar. Our group was seated and treated extremely well considering our party of 8. They catered to our group and the vibe we were carrying and adapted to us very well. The ambiance is definitely more of a lounge with some cool house music to taste like Kaytranada to help liven it up from time to time. The back area has a great seating under low light that creates a cozy atmosphere you want to spend a couple hours chatting with some friends. We tried a variety of cocktails here, all were spectacular but there were definitely a few that stood out. Espresso Martini: (5/5) Should be their flagship beverage. This well balanced coffee cocktail is not overpowering on the caffeine or nuttiness. The initial taste is smooth and lightly foamy with an easy finish. You'll enjoy getting to the bottom of this before trying your next beverage. Very refreshing and extremely pretty to look at. Highly recommend Thunderbird: (4/5) A grapefruit based concoction that is more on the refreshing end. Greater starter to wet the lips with if you're staying for a while. They did a good job of toning down the grapefruit so it's not bitter. I would try it again but probably once or twice more. Hot buttered Cider: (5/5) This hot beverage for the winter months in SF is a must have. Consistently flavorful to the last drop. It's full bodied and very tasty. It was a group favorite.
