Hey, I love this place down bad. Have been going here a lot over the last couple of months with some friends who are regulars. The service is always amazing, big shout out to Fiona who has taken care of us every time I've gone. The food is always immaculate and to die for, and you'll never catch me leaving before I've had an affogato. The space is intimate, cozy, and quiet. In so many ways it feels like you're having dinner in someone's dining room and everyone always seems to be having just as much fun as we are. Stopped in for a quick dinner on a weekend night and pompette did not disappoint. The inside has a very modern feel to it. The service was quick and our waitress did a great job with recommendations. Dinner: Winter salad: great salad that felt fresh and filling Roasted beets: I love beet salad and the almost streusel was a great touch to this Burger: the burger was a special they had and it was so good! Went to Pompette for my first time this evening with my fiancé and it was even better than expected. We sat at the bar for happy hour and ordered the chips and sour cream and onion dip to start which was so good. The chips were made to perfection and the homemade dip was to die for (as a lifelong sour cream and onion dip fan). To drink, I ordered the Hazelnut cocktail which kind of reminded me of a gin version of an old fashioned which I really enjoyed. My fiancé ordered the happy hour cheeseburger which he really enjoyed as well. To top it off, the service was welcoming, kind, and attentive our entire happy hour which I really appreciated. The crab croquettes were so damn crabby. Not like a *hint* of crab like at most restaurants. This was like 90% crab 10% croquettes, 150% delicious. And the Brussels sprouts and kale salad was also yummy!! Listen, I know I said I don't usually rave about salads when I raved about the Blue Door Kitchen & Garden's Brussels sprouts & kale salad but this one was just as good (for those of you with veg friends, bookmark this spot!). Also, I almost lost my bf to the bone marrow; I was totally the 3rd wheel at the table, it was awkward. It truly was a FINE dish tho, so there wouldn't have been any hard feelings. Get it. The server was super knowledgeable but not in a condescending or in-your-face way. She was chill and friendly, and I wanted to be her friend. Okay, so its not that the desserts were bad. Pompette is a cute neighborhood wine bar with quality food and drinks! We had been wanting to come here and knew we had to when it was named a Michelin Bib Gourmand! We came on a Thursday at 5:30 for happy hour (4-6pm, only at the bar) and there was plenty of seating. It definitely filled up closer to dinner time though, so I recommend making a reservation if you are coming at a normal meal time. I loved the local neighborhood feel of the space, while it also felt elevated and classy as a wine bar should. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful which made the experience that much better. Their happy hour menu has a variety of snack and drink options. Most of the cocktails are $10. I was in the mood for an espresso martini ($18, not on the happy hour menu) and it was amazing!! One of the best I've had in Chicago. We split the small charcuterie which was actually a really good size with 2 cheeses, a good portion of meat, several different spreads, and baguette. This place is great! The asparagus and morrels were delicious. The sauce on the artichokes were really good. The cheese is quite expensive for the size of the piece they give. The halibut was really good, however the crispy potatoes in the top lacked salt and the spinach was so salty It was almost an edible. Everything here is absolutely perfect. Our waitress was super sweet and recommended some stellar dishes! Each plate came out super fast and it never felt like we were waiting for an item. The ambiance is super cute n cozy. The crab croquettes, hamachi crudo, fall salad, brown butter agnolotti, and dirt cup were all 10/10 amazing. My friend said this was the best crudo she's ever had! However, I think the star of our meal was the agnolotti. I can't even describe how good this was. One thing to note is that the menu does change periodically (I believe seasonally?). In all we got: Crab croquettes: 4/5 Kale apple salad: 5/5 Burrata: 4/5 Bok choy: 4/5 Steak dish: 5/5 Agnolotti: 4/5 Crème brûlée: 3/5 Chocolate dessert: 4/5 The salad and steak are must orders! Everything else was tasty too! The agnolotti was on the sweet side which was different but still good. The bok choy was a bit too smoky for my taste but still good. The crème brûlée lacked some flavor but the salted caramel ice cream and crispy bits on the chocolate dessert was delicious and I'm not even a chocolate person. For wine, I got the orange wine (mellower one) and the still rose. Both were good! My husband got the Chianti which was also good. We would def come back! A charming spot in Bucktown :) Started with a bottle of Corsica - it wasn't too sweet but still smooth and had a great fruity flavor. First course was the Crab Coquettes and the Apple & Fig Salad. The salad was good but nothing really noteworthy - the crab croquettes were fried great though and had the perfect texture. The highlight of the meal were definitely the main dishes - Duck Confit and Pumpkin Agnolotti. I enjoyed the lentils with the duck, and the duck itself was tender and with the cranberry sauce... oo so good! The Agnolotti also had a nice sweetness but the heaviness of the sauce kind of balanced it out. The deserts were great too. We walked in on a whim on a Saturday around 6pm because it looked so cozy from the outside. Luckily they were able to accommodate us. We were only going to get one plate and some drinks but the menu sounded so good we got three plates. This has been one of my favorite meals and dining experiences since moving to Chicago. Loved the shareable but not overwhelming portions and loved the small size of the restaurant. It has an intimacy that a lot of Chicago restaurants lack because a lot of them are so large. We got the beets, scallops and gnocchi and I recommend all three. I'm never one to order gnocchi because I think it's so heavy, but my boyfriend ordered it and it was my favorite plate of the meal. It was light and had so much flavor. I definitely recommend coming here! read more

We wanted to stay in the neighborhood and was lucky to get a last minute reservation for four. Unfortunately, that's all for luck. The food was mediocre at best. The Scallops and Shrimps dishes were cooked fine but extremely too salty. Brussels Sprouts was the only item that lacked seasoning and could've been cooked or charred more- just hard enough that it was closer to raw than charred. I actually didn't know we ordered Fois Gras until afterwards bc it was sweet from the jam. Even the milk bread was too salty. The prices were also too high for what they were, and portions are tiny... not even a tapas restaurant or a tasting menu. The service was just average, a bit snooty and pushy for us to order. Later, he offered more bread but didn't advise it was an extra cost. I'd likely only come back for happy hour and drinks only.... And The Chef's Selection meat and cheese was enjoyable. read more

I was actually very surprised about this place. It's related to somebody that works with my mom at her shared kitchen, but I went with an open mind. I was a little apprehensive about the menu (seemed small), but I had an excellent brunch on a Sunday morning. I went with the Avocado Toast which was surprisingly excellent. I'm not sure if they make their own bread, but the bread they are using might be some of the best bread I've ever had. My mom got a charcuterie board that had excellent meats and cheeses. We needed more bread! My dad got the straight up breakfast which looked awesome. He ate nearly all of it which is a really good sign. We also had some killer Bloody Mary's. As for the cost, it's a little high, but I've seen much worse at places like this. It's a hip fancy brunch place so the price point already has a high bar. This wasn't too bad on that front. Our server was friendly and helpful, suggesting wine pairings, and helping us determine the right number and type of dishes to ensure we were well fed, but not uncomfortably full! Cute little bistro/ restaurant/wine bar in Wicker Park right next to Le Bouchon. I was super excited to find out my lovely server was someone I already knew from Lakeview East because we had met multiple times before while walking my pup. Restaurant is super cozy and is a Michelin style experience that caters mostly to wine drinkers and people seeking haute cuisine and charcuterie boards. I chose the hangar steak which was accompanied by vegetables and potato gnocchi. The meal was delicious--i just wish there had been more of it to enjoy and I wish there had been a bread basket offered because honestly I was famished and hadn't eaten anything all day. My server Palina was super friendly and a great conversationalist. There weren't a ton of customers when I arrived so she gave me 5 star service and was extremely enthusiastic about helping me and making sure I had enough water etc. For dessert I wanted to try a piece of cheese so I picked the creamy triple cream and it was presented with a one candied almond, a smear of jam and three tiny pieces of bread to go with it. The presentation and taste of the food was excellent but again three hours later I ended up eating heated up mashed potatoes from Marianos grocery store because my meal here wasn't extremely filling. If you love fine dining, a beautiful atmosphere and petite portions of extremely delicious food you will love here. I absolutely enjoyed myself and had a great time thanks to Palina. I believe this bistro is known for their brunches on the weekend but I myself am not a brunch person. I came here for dinner with my mother to try someplace new for her birthday. We tried the chef's selection cheese plate, black sea bass, and sticky toffee pudding. The food was pretty good but slightly overpriced for the portion size and quality (the seabass was some what salty and the sticky toffee pudding won't meet the expectations of Britons). The restaurant was very small with only a few inches separating tables which made conversation feel awkward (as well difficult to get in / out of the seats). The restaurant is very noisy and would benefit from installing fixtures to absorb sound. Service was ok but felt somewhat rushed and somewhat like we were an inconvenience to the service staff. Three stars- I probably wouldn't go back unless someone was very keen to try it. read more

I believe Pompette was started by a few ex-michelin star chefs so I had really high hopes going here! We walked in at noon on a Saturday without a reservation and were able to get seated immediately. We got the smoked salmon plate which was good but it came with a whole unsliced baguette and no real knife so it was super hard to cut into and we got crumbs everywhere. We also got the smoked turkey sandwich which was fine but nothing to write home about. The best thing we got was the dutch baby but I like pretty much all dutch babies so does it really count? Both were spectacular - the pairing of the olives and cheese especially. A lovely spot for brunch with some rather solid options. The wait for a table wasn't too bad, though where to wait so you're not in the way is a bit hard to sort out, but the host went above and beyond by offering us glasses of champagne while we waited. I also picked up a cup of coffee from the bar because the matter was urgent and it was very good. They were out of the special (chiliquilles), but the breakfast sandwich, burratta and Dutch baby were all perfectly executed.
