Absolutely loved this place. We ate / drank here 3 times during our 2 day stay. Service was outstanding - all the folks behind the bar are great to chat with, very personable. Ben was our favorite and made us feel very welcome and put a smile on our faces. Also a great way to meet locals and tourists alike. The "bar food" I would argue is better than all the other food in town (with the exception of Stellina's). Make sure to go during happy hour. The brown derby drink was my absolutely favorite...or the El Diablo. I will say this, keep in mind that Marfa is at about 5,000 feet in elevation (we were unaware) and those drinks will get you in trouble pretty quick. Fortunately, you can pretty much walk the entire town. I really cannot write a higher recommendation for a hotel restaurant / bar. Normally I feel ripped off at them - but the prices here are fair, the staff was great, and the food was exceptional. Only two suggestions for the hotel: 1. When we called the first night to see if you served food, we were told by a girl on the phone that it's "just bar food" and I asked like what, and was told "hamburgers." End convo. So we ate at Jett's. That was a mistake - we much preferred the "bar food" at St. George to Jett's normal offering. Missed revenue there. Would talk to your staff about how you handle simple food questions. 2. The pool. Opens at 12 to guests, 6 PM for locals...we stayed at an AirBnB. We didn't try to go in because we were told it's for locals only and we get that, but in a town where there isn't too much to do we would have GLADLY paid to come hang at the pool. Another missed opportunity for additional revenue. You would have had us for 4+ hours buying drinks then eating with you. Would try to get that figured out ASAP if I was running the place. read more

Had the grapefruit cilantro margarita. A few hours ago, it was Sunday the 10th of February. Had high expectations and was terribly disappointed! Not balanced well! And too much salt on rim. The grapefruit juice overpowers the delicacy of the cilantro. Needs to be more balanced and need to taste cilantro also, this margarita requires more than a cilantro sprig. Please consider softening and balancing it with club soda. Not sure if you should try a cilantro tincture. Which could easily be made with vodka. I lliked this place, music was perfect and food was delicious, but does need some "fine tuning!" We received our food but we, nor our neighbors had silverware, and had to flag down staff, before we could eat. I understand it was full, just seems like staff needs better training! Finished our drinks and wanted to order more, no one came around and waited on us. Finally, flagged bartender as he walked by. He returned behind bar and either forgot our order, or ignored us. Finally flagged down waiter and ordered two more drinks. Even with this negative experience my husband and I decided to stay upstairs and we also had dinner that evening in restaurant. Room was cold, my husband went downstairs and reported this and problem seemed to be remedied. Also a bit noisy. It seems like furniture was being moved in the middle of night.I heard a small dog barking. Pillows should be softer. I did see a woman in corner that appeared to be a manager, working on a computer. She should be trouble shooting and seeing all these issues to resolve some of these problems. I mean if I could pick up on these issues within a few hours the staff should be able to also. When we checked out the next morning, saw a few Latino men standing around having coffee and talking. One appeared to have been manager, but never acknowledged us or asked about our stay. The service was awful. I think our waiter forgot about us for about 15 minutes even though this is a small place. I think Marfa is the town time forgot, that hipster mentality of bad service. No fuss, inexpensive food with a cool and relaxing atmosphere. LaVenture is just on the other side of the bar but my husband and I didn't want to spend that much on food. We ordered the Parmesan fries, vegetarian flatbread and the bbq chicken flatbread. They were hearty flatbreads. We left with leftovers. The flat breads were $13-$15 each and the fries were $5. My husband and I went there for dinner last night and had a horrific experience. I ordered several items off of the limited menu and was told that they had run out of the food. About the only thing left to order was the flat bread. We waited for over an hour for our flat bread and when it came it was inedible. The waitress told the manager and he said that the kitchen ran out of food....even a caesar salad. He offered to let us order from the regular menu but they had sold out of many of those items. We finally left. They did comp our meal but that was not our intention. Before leaving I used the restroom which was dirty and I had to step over dirty sheets and towels that were piled up in front of the door. It was too late to go anywhere else, so we ended up driving back to Alpine and ate at McDonalds. read more

Enter St George Hotel lobby and make an immediate left. Seat yourself anywhere in this sleek, modern, airy space. We were there at midday and breakfast and lunch were available. The menu isn't extensive but it is varied so there should be something for every taste. Panzanella is delicious and light -- red and orange peppers, kalamata olives, red onion, cucumber, small blocks of feta cheese, and croutons, all lightly dressed with olive oil and vinegar. The bread was over-cooked for my taste, but I suppose that's a personal preference. The pozole is a soupy mix of chicken broth, shredded chicken, and hominy topped with shredded lettuce and radishes. It was excellent; much lighter than what I'm used to. Extremely prompt service. Courteous, correct. Inviting space that exudes vibrancy without seeming to try to hard. read more

If you're looking for good drinks and delicious food, this is the place. I had a yummy cucumber concoction with a chili powder rim. My traveling partner had a smoky mixture and grapefruit. Both drinks were well made and quite flavorful. Dinner consisted of the tacos and hamburger plates. The tacos were amazing! Perfectly seasoned chicken dusted in cheese, cabbage, and sliced avocado. Very good! The hamburger and fries were good. The bun was a little oversized and stale, but the meat saved the dish. Clarissa was our bartender. She kept the space tidy and made some great drinks. As others have said, this is one of the few places open for lunch on a Sunday. We sat at the bar and ordered a margarita and a beer, and split a burger and chef's salad. My margarita was tart and refreshing and the burger was large and flavorful. Prices are a little higher than some other restaurants in the area but I felt it was worth it for what we got. read more

Very disappointing. I wish I'd read the reviews first. Stayed at the hotel and stopped by hostess stand to get a reservation for dinner that evening. The bartender (she was nice and friendly) made a reservation for us but didn't mention it was bar seating. When we arrived for seating, the hostess (a dour woman) took us to the "bar" to seat us. When we asked about table seating her comment was "it's not a working bar" and walked off. The tables remained empty throughout our meal. My husband ordered a pizza margarita which was good. I would stick to pizza there as that seems to be what they do best. I ordered risotto. It came out 15 minutes after my husbands pizza. We found out later the waiter had given my husband someone else's pizza, which is why it came out with the appetizer. Once the risotto arrived it was absolutely tasteless and the risotto was undercooked and crunchy. After 2 bites we sent it back. It was deducted from our bill. Waiter was pleasant about the situation. Unless your getting pizza, I'd recommend skipping this place. They have a very attractive interior, good mixed drinks but food is not worth the high prices they are charging. read more

I spent my birthday at this bar! The staff is super attentive and warm. The small bites were just enough to fill me up. I had the sliders, which we're sweet and savory. I had the buffalo bites, they had just enough of a kick, but not too much. I had a few other happy hour appetizers, but those stood out the most. The best part was desert! I ordered the blueberry crumble with ice cream and it was so decadent! This is my second day in Marfa and I am back for a cappuccino and the carrot cake, I'll let you know what I think. ;) read more

My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary dinner and the evening was absolutely perfect! We shared the roasted artichokes and the lamb chops, they were both rich and flavorful. The bread was made-to-order and it came out piping hot, definitely worth waiting for. Our waitress also gave us both a glass of port on the house as a "happy anniversary" gesture, and they paired perfectly with our dessert. We enjoyed ourselves so much we had lunch here the next day. The hotel is really nice on the inside, and it's a good place to sit and have a drink. Bartender was nice. The food was okay, but really expensive. Waitress was kind of rude and not paying attention to us. She rushed us to order our food when we hadn't decided yet and then left us waiting for 30+ minutes for food. We had to go to the bar to get our own water refills. I asked her about one of the beers on tap and she didn't know what kind of beer it was. The table next to us sent their food back, not sure why but they were really unhappy. I got a chicken caesar salad for $18 and it was just chopped up lettuce with a piece of grilled chicken on it. No nice Parmesan or anything. Looked like something from a diner. It tasted fine, but if you are going to market yourself as an upscale restaurant and charge those kind of prices, you should have higher standards for food quality and service. read more

I just recently stayed at the Hotel Saint George. The hotel is lovely, the bar is good but they have borderline bad breakfasts. There were 3 tables that were occupied the day we had breakfast. I ordered their All American breakfast...with bacon. I was told there was no bacon...this was on a Thursday at 8:30am. So, not caring for sausage, I just said no meat. I also ordered my eggs scrambled. Those poor eggs.....I've never seen anything drier or more tasteless. They were scrambled so hard they were like chewing rubber. The potatoes were good, as was the toast. Someone needs to manage their kitchen, because whoever is doing that, is sorely missing the boat. How do you run out of bacon when no one is there???? Poor prior planning. On a better note, the hotel is outstanding, the cocktails were delicious. I would definitely return, but not sure about eating breakfast there. read more

This was one of the few- if only - restaurant open in Marfa (other than Dairy Queen) on Monday night. It has a cool, swanky feel though most of the clientele looked like they just stepped off the trail - as did we. The restaurant was busy, and pricey!, so we opted to eat in the large bar. We were greeted promptly and given menus. The bar menu looked delicious and we ordered dinner and drinks immediately. It took them 30-45 minutes to serve our drinks and over an hour for our dinner. Ridiculous. If you are the only restaurant in town open on Monday, you would think they would be prepared for the crowd. When I kindly asked about our drinks (after 30 mins) the server said "there's only one bartender so it could be a while". Really? How long does it take to grab a soda for my kids? Finally, dinner arrived. The Wagyu burger looked like it had been sitting under the warmer for 30 mins. The bun crumbled in my husbands hands. He didn't care, just used fork and knife. The Caesar salads were delicious, though the lettuce also looked like it had been sitting out a while as well. The Parmesan fries were crispy and delicious. My son devoured his hot wings, smoky and crispy with a dip that had to be Franks Red Sauce. We all shared the brisket Mac n cheese. It was creamy and had about 5 chunks of brisket. I think the management could have jumped in a expedited the service. They seemed to flit around but left the servers to fend for themselves. The food is good, but prepare to wait. They serve dinner until 10, and people were still hanging out in the bar area afterwards. The margaritas were first-rate! I really enjoyed the chicken tinga tacos with avocado ($15 for an order of 3 good-sized tacos). The bar is gorgeous, with the classy air you'd expect of a big city hotel bar, but it also has a touch of "Marfa casual" in a way that can't really be explained. Great service. read more

The boyfriend and I arrived in Marfa on a Tuesday night and looked up where to eat and drink. This was one of 2 places. The bar is set in the Saint George hotel along with table and outdoor seating. Decor is very white, open and spacious. We order a round of drinks and a few bites. Food came out quickly. We ordered the pickled eggs, shishito peppers and mac & cheese. This is definitely the town gathering spot, I would probably say daily! We went during happy hour for some pretty strong drinks. We had the bourbon derby, classic margarita on the rocks and the hubs tried a michelada but had no idea what he was getting himself into LOL! We learned there is a trick to those suckers, so we'll have to try our hand at that again another time. We also had the chili that was made with black beans and was pretty darn good if I do say so! We also ordered the taquitos and the pork belly sliders and I could have done with out the taquitos, but the sliders were actually really tasty, which was great since that was my first time having pork belly. The food came put pretty quick after putting in the order, but it was placing the order that took quite some time so that's the reason for the 4 stars. Met some friendly people at the bar and then after 6pm you can walk over to the hotel pool and have a whole other menu of drinks and food to choose from while catching a few rays! They also have Texas draft beers and are dog friendly (in the lobby area) which was definitely a plus. The staff was so friendly, they even brought some nice organic daily made treats for our puppy. What a beautiful little bar inside Hotel St. George! We sat at the bar and each had a fancy cocktail. The bartender was friendly and made a nice drink. He was helpful with menu recommendations, too. We landed on the field green salad, minus blue cheese. The lemon vinaigrette was perfectly balanced, the shaved apple and walnuts added nice texture and flavor. We also shared the fennel sausage pizza but added garlic and removed the onions. The pizza was great. Wood fired for sure with a thin but sturdy crust. The fennel sausage was very tasty but not greasy. We enjoyed getting to see some of the locals and tourists and checking out the art from locals along the walls. The bathrooms were very nice esp. the hand soap! Next time we go thru Marfa we will enjoy another visit! It's not cheap but it is Good! read more

My wife and I enjoyed super delicious Bloody Marys and shared an HSG burger with parmesan fries and a side salad. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries had an awesome dipping sauce.
