My wife & I love Baraccoa Cuban Restaurant. We are always willing to make the drive the Santa Clarita to Palmdale for some good Cuban food! The food is always full of flavor, the waitstaff is very accommodating & the atmosphere is perfect. The dining room is a little small, but we love it because it makes the experience much better vs being in an overcrowded dining room. Tonight I had the Bistec Empanizado, it was amazing! I love the flavor of the breaded steak with the rice & beans. I also love the pickled onions, so that's a big plus for me. My wife had the Pargo Al Mojo since she's a big fish eater & she absolutely loved the snapper! For my wife & I one of our favorites is always the fried plantains. They are always perfectly cooked & so delicious! They go perfect with every meal. My boys had the Baracoa Cubano, which they both really liked. My youngest had the kids chicken tenders & for a picky eater, he really liked them. For desert we had a slice of the Espresso Chocolate Fudge Cake for the boys. My wife & I split the Cafe Ahogado. Both deserts were absolutely amazing! If you're looking for something different besides all the other taco & pizza restaurants, go visit Baracoa for delicious Cuban food. I was in the mood for some good Cuban food on this beautiful Monday. I dread having to drive all the way down to Los Angeles for some good food with flavor so I checked on Yelp and BAM! I was able to find a place in Palmdale, opposite of traffic, constant braking and the stress of just sitting on the freeway. I digress. I arrived to the eatery located in an medical shopping center. You would never know it was here. What a hidden gem, I almost want to keep it a secret. Parking: Ample parking available. Located pretty close to the Antelope Valley Mall. As you walk up to the location it is very inviting with the mini palm trees and the stone trail. With pure intention I arrived shortly after opening to avoid crowds to have a more intimate dining experience. I was directed to a cozy booth in the corner. Love the red decor and all the beautiful paintings inside. Bathroom: Very clean and smelled very nice The waitstaff was pleasant and friendly. Available immediately when needed. Now to the food: Papas Rellenas: Outside crispy, inside soft mashed potatoes with meat filling. The flavor was good, wished there was more filling. That would take it to the next level Surf and Turf: Oxtail and Shrimp- Oxtail were tender and delicious. The shrimp were a great size and cooked perfectly. Rice: I was shocked just looking at it can fool you as a typical white steamed white rice. OMGOODNESS! When you put that rice in your mouth, your taste buds are going to dance! The flavor used to bring this rice together was amazing! Do not sleep on that rice. Black Beans: Wonderful addition to compliment the meal, perfect Cuban seasoned beans which are one of my favorites. Fried Plantains- Amazing! They are thick sliced, sweet (ripe) and the glaze on these beautifies caused a party to take place in my mouth. I could eat a whole plate of those alone. This meal alone can feed two people comfortably. Tour De Cuba: It comes with 3 meat options and I chose the following : Lechon Asado- Juicy shredded beef. I had so much food left over , I ended up using this in burritos for the hubby, when I got home and He LOVED the meat. Pollo Encendido: Tender chicken thigh meat with great flavor as well. Vaca Frita- Now this crispy beef was the star of the show to me! I can eat an entire plate of this too, throw it on a bed of their rice or beans to make my day. The entire trip was lovely and worth it! Support this small but popular location. They not only survived during the pandemic by providing quality take out adapting to the new normal. Food: Excellent Service: Waiters were not familiar with the wine on their menu. Ordered about 3 different wines throughout our table, they were all either the wrong wine or it was old wine that tasted disgusting. Messed up the receipt once we asked for the check. They did fix it (still waiting on the refund) but the whole situation just took forever and I was in a rush to leave. We ordered a cheesecake for my sisters birthday, also never came. Ordered waters for the table when we first sat down, we had to ask them 3 times where our water was before it finally got brought to the table. They never put in one of the plates of food one of our group members ordered. By the time they realized and brought the food out, everyone else was about done eating their food. Recommendation for anyone going: If you're going to order wine, make sure they bring the bottle and pour for you at the table to make sure they aren't pouring you something you didn't order. Make sure to order your water before your drinks. Order your food asap because it takes a little while for it to come out. Both the waiter and the hostess were very nice and friendly. We ordered an appetizer, three separate plates, and a dessert. I know that sounds like a lot, but we wanted to get a better understanding of the flavors this restaurant had to offer. Here is what we ordered... *Appetizer - Bocadito comes with Beef or chicken Empanadas, Papas Rellenas, Platanos Fritos, and Yuca frrita served with Rico Sauce. *Entree --Ropa Vieja is a Tender shredded beef with bell peppers, onions, and stuffed green olives, slowly braised with garlic in a red wine and tomato sauce. This was super delicious, my nephew cleaned his plate. *Entree -Bistec de pollo, this plate was super delicious the chicken was seasoned perfectly and the chicken was moist. rice beans and plantains were delicious as well. it *Entree -Bistec Empanizado, this dish wasn't my husband's favorite meal but was good. He didn't like the taste of the breaded steak, he thought it just tasted blah. The rice, beans, and plantains were super delicious *Dessert Marilem's Flan, this flan was super creamy and had a nice thick caramel sauce that was delightful. The portion sizes were plentiful, we all were able to take some home for lunch the next day. The service was great and the vibe was positive here. A hidden gem in Palmdale and I'm so glad I found it! My family and I came here to celebrate my sisters birthday and we had the best time. The staff was very attentive and accommodating of our large party of 10! The drinks were very good! My sister and I ordered the regular mojito and the berry mojito. They were so fresh and not to strong or too weak, just perfect! Me and my wife have been here so many times and never had short of perfection Everytime. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The fish dishes will knock your socks off. The ox tail is so good. The sandwiches are heaven. The bistec de pollo is the best chicken I've ever had. And they have a jazz musician play on some nights to make the ambiance more than you could ask for. As I'm writing this review my wife reminded me about the sangria. Completely ruined all sangria for me. I've ordered it at other places and tried to make my own. Nothing compares.
