Complete 180 on my opinion as of my last review. This review is for my last visit at the restaurant and catering services. Restaurant visit was fantastic. The highlight was the Rabo Encendido. I've never had this before and it was superb! Looking forward to my next visit and enjoying it all over again! Catering was one of the best I've ever had! Just some context, we used them for an event at AV Winery for about 120 people. To keep fried foods crunchy/crispy and not have them dry out or get soggy is an art in itself. The croquetas de jamón were next level, even hours after being cooked and they were still hot. (side note: way better croquetas than Porto's, save yourself the drive). Rice, beans, pollo encendido and ropa vieja were all phenomenal. The chicken was moist the day of and even the day after. For chicken to not dry out is amazing (not sure what secret they hacked here). The process from start to finish was phenomenal regarding staff and servers. Marilem made me feel like family throughout our various conversations. She was flexible, professional, kind and wonderful in her consistent and timely communication. Stopped by this Cuban place with my family. There was 10 of us and they gave a long table outside. It was a hot day, but the patio area was shaded and cool. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The food was soo good! We got the ceviche which was really tasty. It had a lot of seafood in it. The cubano sandwich was full of pork and a large portion. We got the garlic fries with it and they were crispy. My favorite was the lechon asado. The pork was very tender and moist. It paired well with their rice. I also loved the plantains. I would definitely come back again! read more

Baracoa delivered a meal that felt like a warm hug from Havana. The ropa vieja was tender and rich, paired perfectly with fluffy rice, hearty beans, and sweet plantains that practically melted on the fork. Tangy pickled onions added a punch, and the portions were more than generous. The vibe was just as good--brick walls, patterned tiles, and a bar made for mojitos. The staff was friendly and helpful, and free parking was a bonus. My only wish? A changing table for us new parents (in men's restroom). If you haven't been to Barbacoa Cuban Restaurant in Palmdale next to the auto mall, you are missing out. They have the most amazing Cuban food ever. Their appetizers are TDF. Thats what we had for dinner. I ordered the civiche which was the best I have ever had. They do not skimp on the shrimp. Huge pieces, avocado, coconut mango salsa. Wow. So delicious. Served with plantain chips. So yummy. My hubby got the chicken empanadas and potato balls. So amazingly delicious.Of course he had to finish every bite. Couldn't let it go to waste. Lol. The sauce they give to dip is the best. Lip smaking. As you can see, the appetizers are a meal in itself. I truly recommend ordering a bit of everything. The serving sizes are huge. I finally got a chance to visit Baracoa Cuban Restaurant in Palmdale, and I'm so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with lively Cuban music playing and a vibrant energy in the air. The staff greeted us right away and made us feel like family. We started with an appetizer recommended by the waiter. We told him it was out first time there. It came with empanadas, which were golden, crispy, and bursting with flavor. For the main course, I had the Ropa Vieja,Lecchon and pollo ensendido. It was absolutely delicious--tender shredded beef in a rich, savory sauce, served with perfectly cooked black beans, rice, and sweet plantains. Every bite tasted fresh and authentic. The drinks were just as impressive. I ordered a berrymojito my husband ordered the Cuban club and they were refreshing, balanced, and not overly sweet. The alcohol bottles they have are some good ones. Additive free choices. This is a plus. Service was on point. Our server checked in just enough without hovering, and the food came out hot and timely. The live music added an extra layer of fun and you could tell people were really enjoying themselves. This is definitely one of those places that makes you feel like you've traveled somewhere special without leaving the Antelope Valley. My niece and sister both had the Guava juice, then i ordered the ropa vieja plate which was very tasty and a huge serving. Searched best food in Palmdale while there for work and this came up. Incredibly good food! I had the Bistec de Pollo and it was the best grilled chicken I've ever had. The rice and beans were amazing and the tostones were perfection after I added a bit of salt. I'm not a huge fan on plantains but their's were really good. I had a chilled coffee drink recommended by the our waitress, and it was dynamite, too. I took off one star because it was hot as sin inside the restaurant. The service was great it was Valentine's Day and we had no reservations and was able to get a seat inside. By the time we were done the place was packed inside and out. We celebrated my brother's 65th birthday today and everything we had was delicious! Our server, Gabriela was very sweet and attentive. Even though the place was busy, she really took care of us. Thank you, Gabby! For meals, we had the Empanadas de Carne and Empanadas de Pollo, both were 10/10. We also had Baracoa Cubano and Ropa Vieja Sandwiches with garlic fries and fried platanos - they were 10/10. My sister had chicken dish (see picture) and it was really good too! 10/10 For drinks, the birthday celebrant (and my sister) had the Ube and Rum cocktail, and I had a cappuccino - they were 10/10! I've had authentic Cuban food before but, never like this. The food presentation passed the test. Each dish packed a ton of flavor. And they are not shy about food portions. Which I absolutely loved. If you're looking for a date night or just a nice casual eat, this is the spot. They have indoor seating and a beautiful outdoor patio. On first Saturdays of the month, they have live music. If you can't decide on what to eat, the papas rellenas are to die for! The empanadas were okay. Bland to taste. Hardly any protein inside. The ceviche was flavorful and amazing but definitely an appetizer sized dish. For the main dish, I recommend the ropa vieja (meat) for that real authentic Cuban dish. There is also a similar dish called pollo encendido (chicken). You have the option to make it spicy as well. The spicy level is intermediate. All cubanos are tasty as well. For cocktails, I got a canchanchara. Absolutely amazing!!!! I had a few and it def hit the spot. lol. My server Vidal was very attentive and explained every dish I got. He had good recommendations. Most importantly, he never let my drinks or empty plates sit there. I appreciate it when my table gets bussed, as empty dishes take up table space. It's a shame they are located so far away. It was our first time here tonight and everything about our experience was perfect! Juan set the tone with his friendly smile and positive attitude. He sat us right away, provided us with his favorite menu recommendation, and with confidence ensured us that we were going to love it! For our appetizer, we asked Lisa to surprise us. She brought out the Papa Rellenas (Stuffed Mashed Potatoes). It was crispy on the outside and a delightful blend of textures inside. The smooth consistency of the mashed potatoes wrapped around the meaty picadillo core with the pickled onions and green cream sauce definitely set the tone making us excited for our main dishes which were exceptionally delicious! My husband ordered the Ropa Vieja (Cuban Braised Beef) and I got the Vaca Frita (Crispy Beef). We both got the beans and rice mixed and a side of plantains. The crispy beef was seasoned very well and full of flavor. The ropa vieja was tender and the sauce was fantastic. We finished off tonight's meal with the famous flan and decaf expresso. We were sincerely impressed with our experience at Baracoa and are adding this our list of favorite restaurants of all time! The ambiance was intimate and adorned in beautiful pieces of artwork, great lighting, and most importantly the space came alive because of the wonderful employees who enjoy their work and take time to carefully craft delicious meals. Quite possibly my new favorite Cuban restaurant! The restaurant is pretty compact and filled up very quietly but very much worth the wait! The decor of the restaurant is very timeless and definitely seems like the local hidden gem. Their jumbo shrimp ceviche is so delicious paired with mango and coconut cream! I loved pairing it with plantains and their side sauces of the habanero and green sauce. Their sandwich was also very delicious though little hard to bite as the bread itself was hard. Yes, please never disappointed... If you get your server, Fidel, he is amazing... Super attentive, accommodating, and knows what you need before you even ask... I had the oxtails for lunch today. Although they were pricey, I've always wanted to try them. The portions were very sufficient. And I took home my lunch. I tried get something off the menu different each time I come. And there's nothing bad on that menu. I also like the way they change up the menu frequently, so you can get a full idea of what their chefs can do if you don't know what to drink, you can always ask Fidel, and he will pick your brain a little bit, to give you an idea of what you think you might like. read more

This restaurant is a hidden jem in Palmdale. I always saw the restaurant on Yelp but never when to try it. We recently decided to go for dinner & we were amazed with how good the food was. We can't believe we waited so long to try it. The following weekend we returned for lunch. For dinner, we had tour of Cuba which comes with three meats. This plate is enough for 2 people. It's perfect to try out different items if it's your first time. On our second visit, we had lunch on the patio. It was nice to sit outside near the fire pit. We both had sandwiches. My wife had the sandwich de pollo & I had the baracoa cubano. They were both delicious. The staff is so friendly and very informative. They also make you feel welcomed which is so nice. The restaurant is fairly small but they have a big patio. I would suggest making reservations for dinner. We didn't make reservations there we weren't able to sit in the patio the first time. My real rating would be 4.5 stars. Not too bad of a difference but I just had the slightest quibble. We were a party of 5 and 2 of our friends had already eaten here before and spoke highly of it. It was a Saturday night around 6:45 PM and we were seated within just a few minutes. I did notice later on that it was full inside the restaurant and people were waiting at the door for a table to open up so we got lucky when we arrived. Our waiter was fantastic and very personable. He recommended the Bocadito to share as our appetizer. It came with beef & chicken empanadas, papas rellenas, platanos fritos and yuca frita served with rico sauce. Delicious if you want to try multiple things! Since there were 5 of us, we just had to cut some of the foods up to share so that we could all try each one. A friend and I ordered Bistec Encebollado ("Grilled thin-cut sirloin steak topped with grilled onions, citrus zest, and mojo sauce. Gluten Free.") This is where I knocked off half a star. The description sounded delicious but when a friend and I both received our plates, it wasn't saucy at all so I wasn't sure what or where the mojo sauce was. If it was cooked or marinated in it, then I couldn't tell. The meat with a little tough and dry but still good flavor. Since it came with a bowl of black beans, we used that with every bite to make the meat feel jucier. ($26.25/ea) Dishes our other friends ordered: Bistec Empanizado - "Seasoned, breaded, and fried thin-cut sirloin steak with grilled onions and mojo sauce." ($26.25) Vaca Frita - "Tender shredded beef seared crispy with grilled onions, citrus zest, and mojo sauce. Gluten Free." ($24.95) Vaca Frita Sandwich - "Tender shredded beef seared crispy with grilled onions, mayo, and mojo sauce" ($16.25) Since I was so focused on my own food, I didn't exactly get a chance to ask everyone what they loved/didn't like about their food, but for the most part, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! Practically devoured them. Meat was good, flavor was tasty and the plantains were a hit with everyone. My absolute favorite part was the Cortado Frio ("Strong, sweet and ice chilled Cuban latte with a double shot of espresso" / $4.75). It was SOO creamy and delicious that I just couldn't get enough of it!! I've never had Cuban coffee and it reminded me strongly of Vietnamese coffee. Also enjoyed the live performers creating a soothing, jazzy ambiance as they sang and played instruments like the sax, flute and keys. I wanted to try congri with my food but, when my plate was brought to my table it was a simple rice and beans instead of the congri. Cuban Sandwich- 9/10 Great flavor and I like that you can get a choose your side (platanos fritos)with the sandwich. Mojo Fries- 8/10 This has a lot of garlic but I wish the mojo taste was more present. Jupina- 10/10 If you like pineapple soda this is a must. Marilem's Flan- 10/10 Very rich and smooth.
