I went back into his shop on Monday and he explained what the coins were worth (at market rate). He was also very upfront and transparent on his fees (which ended up being around 10%). Everything seemed reasonable so I proceeded forward. He wrote me a check and kept the silver and the transaction was complete. It couldn't have been any easier. I found the "Eyeglass Doctor" online and the reviews convinced me to stop in. They assured me they could fix them and quoted me $82 w/tax. It was a bit more that I expected but still less than 10% of what new glasses cost. The only bummer was the wait. I was told three weeks at dropoff because of a backlog of repairs, but my claim check said five weeks. Since I had a backup pair to wear I decided to wait, plus I figured they must be doing good work if they're so busy. The wait was worth it - the repair was very well done and my glasses fit great again. I would absolutely use them again and you should too.
