Barb Lin told me they would match the new floor to a current floor and this is what I got. After being told by two employees that the floors didn't match and being told they back up their customers I received the two letters certified, never even a phone call. Watch out for these guys... make sure you understand their (lack of) return policy and how they sell you more than you need. We wanted luxury vinyl flooring in our master bath, and settled on an item that we could only get from Barb-Lin. My wife first inquired with a salesman named Frank and received a price. When she went back to place the order, the price went up. On asking Frank about the price increase, he denied giving the first price. We wanted it, so the order was placed. My wife asked for 4 cartons, but Frank strongly recommended she buy 5 cartons to account for waste, so she bought 5. After the job was completed and 3-1/2 cartons were used, I called and spoke to Frank about a return. He seemed miffed and said he would call me back. Hearing nothing by the end of the day, I called him back. Frank advised that the store would not take the return and the mill (he meant manufacturer) would charge a restock fee plus shipping, costing more to return than what I had already paid. I asked what the store's return policy was, and he essentially said the store didn't have one and they leave it up to the mill (manufacturer). He said he would call me if someone wanted that same vinyl tile, where he would give a full refund. I expressed my frustration that the chance of that would be near zero, to which he said "it could happen". So I'm stuck with a $160 carton. As originally calculated, only 4 cartons were needed. Had we known the item was not returnable, there's no way we would have purchased the additional carton. So, good job Frank, you got us. I hope you enjoy the $8 commission you squeezed from us. Be very careful if you must deal with Barb-Lin. For me, a pricey lesson. read more

A few things but I'll start with the main issue. The custom carpet I requested came out perfect, but the lining underneath that they had me pay extra for, is not cut the exact way the custom carpet is. Now I'm juggling three pieces instead of two, and this may end up being a two man job instead of just myself. The lining underneath should have been cut the same exact way, not in two separate pieces. Secondly, I didn't mind that the carpet took longer than expected, but I never received a call from them. And when I did finally decide to call a little over four weeks later, no one had any idea what custom carpets I was talking about. Clearly since she had no clue, she passed the phone to someone else who came off a little arrogant. Third, I had a physical coupon from the local newspaper, that she said she couldn't take because she claimed she was "already discounting the rugs". As a frontline worker, I'm trying to save whatever money I can. And if that money is going to make or break Barb-Lin's store, then I feel bad. But that's more money I could have saved from my own pocket. Overall I got great rugs, not so nice and oblivious customer service, and a liner underneath that I'm still fumbling with. Luckily I don't need more carpets anytime soon, but I definitely wouldn't do business here again. read more

Stay away from this place. Absolute crooks. They wanted 3500$ to do 144 sq feet hardwood floor. Do the math, over 24$ per square! I purchased the wood for 7.70 a square, they wanted 12.50. I found a reputable floor guy to lay floor for 5$ a square which is the going rate, not 12$. Long story short, I was able to get the job done for 12.70 a square foot. read more

If Yelp had a no stars option I would click that. Where do I begin? We just mercifully completed a hardwood install on 4 top level rooms with a staircase refinish and stain. Lazy, sloppy and defensive every step of the way and unapologetic too! A 2-3 day job ended up being 8 days. Day one of install there was a miscommunication between sales and installers so they send a skeleton crew without the appropriate tools thinking this was a small job. Day one wasted. Came back the next day and rushed through it only to tell us they did not order enough flooring material. Day 2 gone. Stained the staircase on day 3 ten shades too dark and not even a remote match to the flooring. No sample shown beforehand. Day 3 gone. They came back, stripped the staircase and stained again. Day 4 gone and for the second day, our dogs can't use the stairs. Day 5, the staircase spindles were put back at different heights, not leveled or spaced equally AND nailed in place to the floor even though they were originally in receiving holes. Day 6, they suggested we leave the exposed subfloor on the side of the landing where the carpet had wrapped around it. When we challenged them on it they offered a quarter round piece that still left the subfloor exposed and said that is all they can do. All along the quarter round was cut at miss matched angles and some left not nailed in. They finally got the wood delivery and came on a Saturday 8 days after they started. We had a long list of items to be addressed and I get a defensive install manager challenging me on every point. After I reminded him who the customer was they finally slogged through it, found an appropriate piece of trim and got the spindles done right. This robbed us of our Saturday as I had to babysit them through the list and double check every item before we let them go. The only thing they were very prompt about was calling the next day for their COD balance. They asked how we liked everything and my wife told them what a horrible experience it was. The sales person's only response was, "how did you want to pay for it?". No apologies, no accountability, no skill and no concern. If they treat every job and every customer like this how are they in business this long? Absolutely a nightmare!! So run as fast as you can in the other direction from Barb-Lin ONE. read more

Barb-Lin installed new carpet, a new wood floor and refinished wood flooring in our kitchen and on our stairway. They did a wonderful job and helped us through the entire selection process (colors, quality vs price, longevity, etc). We had a miscommunication during the process with the installation crew. We mentioned we would be getting the house painted. They assumed it was right after the job, so there were some spots of stain on the walls around the stairway. When we explained we'd be getting the house painted in stages over a year or two, they didn't hesitate to cut a check to our painter to fix the spots to our satisfaction. These guys are top notch professionals. Don't hesitate to use them. read more

Barb-Lin and their installer was a lifesaver. We had a water intrusion that effected 100 sq. ft. of our glued down engineered hardwood that was only 2 yrs. old. The original installer (another local flooring business) replaced the floor using material that did not match. After several lies and not returning our calls we sent an email to the owner asking to speak with him. They did not even have the courtesy to respond. We filed with our insurance and they sent us to Barb-Lin. From the first phone call it was a welcomed experience. The process of choosing a floor, coordinating with the installer and completing the job was a pleasant experience. The 1500sq.ft. ripping up and installation was perfect. Don R. and his team were superb. This was a very difficult job and very dusty and we were well warned. They protected everything in site minimizing the clean-up. They worked 6 days/wk for 2 full weeks. They arrived on time and did everything to minimize our inconvenience. The workmanship was perfect...every cut precise. I bought a house which needs some work, and the carpet was really bad. Unfortunately, replacing the carpet is not in the budget for now. I called Barb-lin, and when they came to give me an estimate, I was expecting an attempt to upsell me on new carpeting. Instead, he listened to my needs and budget and came up with repair options which I hadn't even thought of. Now I will be able to get a few more years out of my carpets, and will definitely use barb-lin when I'm ready to replace my carpets. Very satisfied! read more

We used Barb-Lin Carpet One when we moved from a home to a condo. We bought our window treatments and floor coverings (wall to wall carpet, bedroom and office carpet, engineered wood flooring). We worked with Cindy Fatsis who was fantastic. She helped us choose everything plus helped us choose paint for our various rooms too. The worker bees who layed our floor coverings did a fantastic job, left nothing behind that shouldn't be there and we're great to work with. And a carpet defect became evident after 6 months and they worked with the supplier and replaced our LR wall to wall carpet without a problem. Peter who installed all our window treatments was wonderful too. When we had our windows replaced we needed Peter to come back out to rehang a blind the window guys screwed up. We had to pay for this but well worth the cost. I'm mechanically declined, my wife says, so I for one was glad to pay it. Worst experience ever!! Where can I start, the process took from March through September to carpet CORRECTLY a hallway. First they measured incorrectly and showed up with not enough carpet for the job. Again, THEY measured. It took several weeks before the "new" carpet came in. Once installed there was a very distinct line in the carpet where one of the seams was, it appeared to be two different carpets. It then took well over a month for the "new" carpet to come in again. I had to make all calls, I believe I never would have heard from them again if I hadn't kept after them. They came out and supposedly replaced the entire hallway, I should have kept a close eye on exactly what they did. Everybody who comes into my house agrees the replacement carpet is a lesser quality. It doesn't feel as plush. After a short time, I again noticed a seam where the colors appeared different, it was a distinct line across the hallway. This time they came out and snipped away at the seam, steamed it to get the "pile" facing the same direction. It now looks better, not perfect but better. The final straw was when the steamer guy came to my house and point blank asked me if I was home alone, very creepy! Who asks a women that question. The steamer guy also became snippy with me when I disagreed that "seeing seams is normal." seriously how many times have you seen what appears to be two different colored carpets in someone's house. I'll give them one star only because when I called to complain they did come out to the house quickly. Never did I hear any kind of apology throughout the entire ordeal. I will never use nor recommend Barb Lin Carpet! read more

Very Very Disappointed. Purchased carpet for my hallway, stairsteps, and 4 bedrooms. Order a Nourison Carpet. Needless to say this way a very high ticket installation. The salewoman neglected to tell me that they would not be using a cushy padding. So the carpet felt like I was walking on a cement floor. Not what I was expecting. they did offer to use a little better quality padding which I agreed to in just the MB. They installed it in all the bedrooms. After 5 mos of being installed, the carpet buckled. I had ripples all over my MB, hallway. I called in May and they did not come out until July. They said the rippling is bc they used the better padding and this will be a constant problem. They restretched the carpet and removed over 3"-4". They did not, however, fix the doorways which are still buckled. They tried to say that they won't be able to fix it. I told them, if the problem is the padding then put in the correct padding. They assured me this wouldn't happen again for quite a while. Two months later it happened again. Not just in the same areas, but now in more bedrooms. I called again and the manager, John, never got back to me. I called again 2 weeks later, and spoke to him. He said he never got the message and he would take care of it. Five weeks later, I am still waiting. I am convinced they installed this carpet wrong. They also never tightened up the floor boards before installation which maybe causing the problem as well. They even told me before that it is because the room is over my garage and the carpet is reacting to the temperature. This is a real disgrace and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone I know. I am so upset because I spent thousands of dollars and this is why I am putting this review in today...because they don't care to make it right! read more

Premium priced, crap installation and follow through. If you want shoddy work, failure to communicate, and end up paying a premium price for poor installation, use them. Our experience: failed to follow layout directions resulted in tryin to seam in high traffic areas. Failure to use the correct pad on the stairs and hall leaves the area feeling like concrete. Installers took property home with them, even announcing they liked the old carpet so much they were conserving the good area to install in their home. Left literally hundreds of exposed staples on stairs for 2 days saying we needed to wear shoes to avoid punctures, but how does the dog wear shoes? Needed to match 20 year old laminate floors from a company that no longer exists. The experts at Barb Lin found the product I needed, but is was warped when they opened the boxes. Very bad experience. You will pay top dollar for less than caring customer service. They installed my wood flooring and it looked great, but they failed to recommend the proper installation (should have been a floating floor under my circumstances). they did not follow manufacturer guidelines and now the floor is damaged due to moister from the slab. I have to replace the entire floor. They do not even care to assist with replacing the floor. They do now care about you. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more
