It's been years since we visited Barbarino's. I remember the first time I had a Margarita type pizza (no red sauce). Today I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. I liked the way the bacon was crumbled in many pieces on the cheese. Every time you bit down on the sandwich you were sure to get a bite of it. It beats the bacon in slices in the middle of the burger. It was tasty and cooked well done exactly how I like it. My hubby liked his food as well. I ordered to go Eggplant Parmesan, dinner for a family member. I ordered desserts to go like the cheesecake and Tiramisu. The service was excellent and the server always on time with refills or checking on us to see if we needed anything else. We went earlier so there were not to many people. I had the pleasure of trying their food twice this week! Once at the restaurant for a friend's birthday and the second time catered at a friend's birthday party. The restaurant was busy on a Wednesday night but we were able to get a table for 4. Our sever was very nice. We all got some wine. We shared Asiago Risotto Poppers for the table and they were crispy and yummy. Our entrees came with a starter salad and definitely order the house made ranch. The table also got complimentary bread when our salads came out. I got the lasagna and from the photo you really can't see it well, but there was several layers of meet, cheese, and meat. I ate the whole thing lol. The other two girls got chicken Parmesan and the Angel Hair Ala Vodka and they both enjoyed theirs and had leftovers. The 4th person in our group was gluten free though so disclaimer this restaurant is not celiacs friendly. But it's an Italian restaurant so most aren't. Just an fyi. What I was able to try that was catered was the chicken piccata and the fettuccine Alfredo. The Alfredo was so good. Good local spot. read more

My eternal quest for NEO best veal parmigiana continues. Had to be in the Columbia Station area and looked for a restaurant that served veal parmigiana and found Barbarino's. Wife and I walked in without a reservation on a Tuesday evening around 6 and was seated immediately. Place was active, bar area was full and probably a little more than half the tables were full. Immediately felt like a neighborhood place, seemed like a lot of regulars. Had a nice Manhattan, wife had veal Marsala. Meal included a cup of soup and nice bread. Portion size was huge, more than enough and priced fairly. Wife enjoyed the Marsala, mine was a little tough and way to thick. Flavor was ok, pasta good. Service was pleasant. If it was closer, I would be inclined to give it another try, but since it is a long way from where I live, probably not going to happen. read more

My son and I were in the area so we decided to try the pizza. We had stuffed Hungarian peppers for our appetizer and they were very good. For our pizza we had the standard pepperoni and sausage and it was very good also. Service was on point and friendly. The atmosphere is good not great and the restaurant was clean. An odd little restaurant, worth the drive with a great menu, full bar and an extra dining room to the side. The main dining space is a little tight, but we were there with a large party, so it could just be perception. The staff was great, given the amount of guests we had, the service was great and the kitchen rocked it. Fresh bread, huge salads and massive entrees with pizza hot from the oven is my kind of place. The menu offers traditional Italian specials, burgers, pizza, soup and more. My co-workers and I were there for a somewhat reunion. We walked in the door and two of my friends said it smelled like sewage. We requested a table outside and every now and then we'd smell it. Very off putting. We ordered a bottle of wine to split. A Pinio Grigio. We were very surprised when the waitress brought our wine, and it was Mezzacorana, which costs $7.00 a bottle in the store, but cost us $28. I understand they upcharge but x4 for a meh wine is ridiculous. We asked for bread and our waitress, Taylor, who was awesome, brought us three pieces for four of us and said they were baking more, which we never got. I've never been to an Italian restaurant that hasn't brought bread to the table when I sat down. The food was okay but the portion of spaghetti that I received with my eggplant parm. was embarrassing. I've been to Barbarino's in the past and have never been as disappointed as I was yesterday. Back in the mid 90's I had a friend whose stepmom worked at Barbarino's. We would hang out there sometimes while she finished a shift, and this is when I was introduced to meatball subs. I was only about 12 so I didn't have much to compare to at the time, but over the years, any meatball sub I ate was compared to Barbarino's. I stopped in last night with my niece, first time in about 5 years. The ambiance was a little higher class than I had remembered, and it was very nice. Tables were a little close together, but I was glad one was available for us. My meatball sub was definitely fancier than they used to be, but still just as delicious. I'm glad something's never change. Toasty bread, cheesy, tender meatballs. The perfect ratio of all ingredients. My salad was excellent, bread was perfect, and my nieces spaghetti portion was very generous. Our server was attentive and friendly. Prices competitive. I neverrrrr write reviews, but I felt I had to share this experience. Just ordered takeout for my husband and I. I used to go here all the time as a kid and I remember it being great, but our experience today was disappointing. The Italian wedding soup had no flavor at all, unfortunately, probably the worst we've ever had. Everything is unseasoned and it just tastes like a cup of hot water with wet meat. I ordered the scampi from their menu, and the takeout container was literally swimming with a liquid-- butter and something else that's separated. It also only came with 4 pieces of shrimp, one of which I wasn't able to eat because it was disintegrating before it got to my mouth. I don't think we will be back :( read more

Went for dinner on a Saturday evening, after 5 minutes we ordered drinks waited10 minutes for drinks to arrive, then put in our food order after 28 minutes got our salads then in about 3 more minutes our dinner came no time to eat the salads. Place was very noisy. After eating what we could and getting to go boxes we waited another 10 minutes for the check. Will it be back. Food wes just average but expensive. read more

Traditional Italian fare - well prepared - with additional traditional tavern choices - e.g. fabulous chicken wings. I love restaurants where the owner-manager is present. Kevin was present and he made sure all the patrons were satisfied. The cavatelli with home made meatballs and penne with artichoke, spinach and sun dried tomatoes were particularly memorable. Italian menu with some deviations. we ordered a deviation - Chilean Sea Bass Garlic Crusted, Roasted Brussel Sprouts Polenta & Tarragon Cream Sauce. My favorite phrase of the night from my wife "I'm full" as@I attacked her sea base like I was a Shark in the water. My hot hungarian stuff peppers were accented with marinara. This is right near our house so we decided to give it a try. First thing I noticed is it didn't smell like italian food when we walked in. This is a huge negative for me. But I am keeping an open mind - lol I ordered veal parm and my husband ordered the lasagna. Both dishes came with salad and we both paid the $1 to add cheese. Salads were fresh, dressings were good. They fraudulently added a tip to my pickup order. I always tip on pickup orders but this experience didn't deserve one. I walked in and patiently waited a few minutes before the guy came to the counter (no problem). The only thing he said to me was "21" which was my total. Not another word came from him, so no tip from me. I go back to waiting, and some other person comes over and says that my order was sitting right there behind the counter and finally bags it up for me. I honestly wouldn't care about any of this cause sometimes things are just off. But to STEAL money from me is insane. My family and I came to this restaurant the other night for dinner. As I had a taste for some pasta, and my parents have enjoyed their cocktails before. I had the cavatelli and I thought it was very good. The sauce was good and seasoned nicely. The cocktail is why my review receives 3 stars. I had the jalapeño margarita and it was not the best. just something else to consider other than bad food, if you are on their website and view their menu, those prices are considerably lower that the menu given to you in restaurant. For example , fettucini alfredo with chicken is 17.00 on line, when you get there , menu in restaurant is 22.00. Calamari app on line is 10.00, when you get there, it is 13.00. A 3.00 difference with lasagna also. Needless to say ,online menu on their site is lower on most items. So why doesnt the owner fix this? read more

Stuffed and still HOT! It's been 7- 8 years but went back to Barbarinos today (where I used to go with my children many times before) and the stuffed banana peppers are still the best around. Kevin and Co. always have the best heat....I wonder where he gets them or does he grow his own?! Lol The vodka angel hair pasta is still as tasty and satisfying as it was years ago. And nothing beats the Big Ass bowl they bring it out in. Matt at the nice wooden bar served favorable pours and drink prices are darn competitive. I haven't been to Barbarino's in, no joke, over 20 years. Am I ever glad I stopped in! It was busy, but not overwhelming on this Friday night. I opted for a glass of Pinot Noir and hubby had a beer. He was kind of disappointed in the draft beer selection - only two varieties. But the bottled beer was well-priced. We sat on the side of the dining room near the kitchen. It wasn't particularly loud, but the tables were VERY close together. Simply reaching to scratch an itch on my back resulted in me bumping the gentleman at the next table. It was bordering on uncomfortably cramped. The food was very good. Hubby got the deluxe pizza. The toppings were very generous but the pizza itself could have done with a few more minutes in the oven. I got the angel hair pasta with vodka sauce. It was absolutely delicious and plenty to take home. Jo, our server, was pleasant and efficient. She was over-sat and was running all over, but was still personable and answered questions. Approximately a half dozen tables with hanging baskets. This won't be a complete review as we are outside but a peek inside looked large and dark but inviting. We ordered the super deluxe pizza, large. Pizza took 20-25 minutes to bake and was worth the wait. The only thing better than fresh served pizza is fresh made from an independent Italian restaurant/pizza shop. This pizza was so good, thinnish crust with a nice snap to it, crispy. Toppings were galore and really fresh. Mushrooms and sausage were really tasty. Service was great, waitress was out 3 or four times (now we're the only ones here).There is also a separate entrance for carry out. First the wings are outstanding. But I ordered the Chicken noodle soup for the first time and the best I have ever had!

First ever visit, and ordered takeout. Order was ready in 30 minutes--the same time they said it would be. COVID precautions are well-done, with only one person allowed in the takeout area at a time. That area is barricaded from the dining area where tables are spread out. The menu is a combination of American (including creole-cajun) and Italian, so we decided to order samples from both. The salt & vinegar chip coated walleye bites were phenomenal: super-crunchy, flavorful coating around mild fish with a spicy ranch dipping sauce. The eggplant parmesan was crispy and fresh. The sauce was excellent and unique: mildly spicy, zingy / sweet tomato, speckled with herbs. The penne was nicely cooked, not al dente as we requested, but still not mushy. We would have liked a tad more cheese, but it was a very tasty entree overall. The dinner salads were quite good--nicely done Italian dressing--and were definitely worth the extra $1 for grated provolone cheese. Service was generally good, but I had to remind the waitress that we had two salads (she initially gave us one). She did apologize a couple times, though. We ordered the tiramisu to finish, which was excellent with intense coffee balanced by plenty of mascarpone cream. My girlfriend Lisa and I went here for the $22 strip steak dinners. 1/3 of her steak was pure fat! The steak had good flavor, but 1/3 not being edible? Terrible value and ruined the birthday dinner. The baked potato was tiny like the potatoes one buys at the supermarket. They do have good bread, the caliber of Santo's Restaurant. We have been to this restaurant before. We will not be back to this restaurant. The owner was shown the long cut of fat from the steak and had nothing to say. What could he say? Poor quality, poor steak value, but service was descent. The food was very good! I ordered the seafood linguine and my family ordered other pastas and all of us got salads, all the food was very well made and delicious! Their beer and alcohol collection is also very good. Everything came out reasonably fast and our server was nice. The very small restaurant had a nice original feel and there was a nice outdoor patio! Sadly we went in early spring so it was to cold to sit outside. Wife's Caesar salad came out 10 minutes after the other salads. And it was only lettuce, dressing and croutons. And didn't look very appetizing. ENTREES. Son had cavatelli and meatballs, the sauce was so watery we sent it back. (about an inch and a half of standing water in the bowl) Wife had a small cheese pizza that was over cooked. I had the chicken francaise which was actually pretty good but I ended up sharing it with my son since we sent his meal back.
