I've been here twice and have had good experiences. I'll start by saying that I don't do a lot with my hair. I have long layers and in the morning I just wash and blow dry for a couple minutes. Nothing too fancy. But, Kelli did a great job and the value can't be beat--$25 for a women's haircut before tax and tip. I've paid well over twice as much for that at other places and there was no discernible difference with the end result. I'm seriously IN LOVE with my haircut!! Kelli, the owner, did a fantastic job and listened to exactly what I wanted! After one too many bad haircuts in my life, I get a haircut once in a blue moon. The last time I had it cut was back in 2019, right before the pandemic started. Typically, I always go to an Asian salon, but the last time I got a haircut, I decided to try an American one to see if the higher prices meant the cuts were better. However, it ended up being subpar. I always do an extensive Yelp search before settling on a hair salon. That was when I came across 22 Salon. There were tons of great reviews, and it's a block away from where I live, so it was perfect! I was hoping for a walk-in haircut, but there was a sign on the door saying that haircuts are by appointment only. I walked away disappointed and called the number on the sign to schedule an appointment. The owner picked up, and when I told her that I was looking for the earliest available appointment she had, she said that she could take me right now if I could drop by! I was super excited, and I found out that she has to put the appointment only sign up due to Covid restrictions. She told me that she had been there all day and that I was her only client for the entire day, which honestly made me super sad. She asked how short I wanted it cut, and whether I wanted to get it layered or just cut. I told her that I wanted it to be layered, and she advised me that she wouldn't layer it too much since I already have thin hair. I appreciated her observation so so much because I definitely didn't want my hair to get cut too thin. We had a great conversation about our lives during the cut, and she was so funny and sweet. The final result literally left me shook. It was the best haircut I've ever gotten in my life!!! I'm seriously so so so happy to finally find a salon/hairstylist that I know I can trust. Bonus points for the extremely reasonable pricing as well! I'm not too fond of short hair on myself, and there has been one too many times where the stylist will cut off more than I requested. However, Kelli cut my hair to the PERFECT length, and I'm genuinely in awe of her skills! I've posted before and after photos below for reference! This place has good prices and nice people overall. We'd gone to three different places before this one. It was 6pm and "Walk-ins welcome" often don't turn out so welcoming nearer closing time. But they saw both of us right away, and were willing to take another customer who walked in a few minutes behind us too. She, I think her name was Kelly, gave me a nice clean trim and was careful not to take off too much length when I told her I'm trying to grow it out. Tried this place out since I'm new in the area and needed a haircut. I aim for pretty cheap but still ok looking, and I got better than that. The haircut prices have gone up since the picture was uploaded, but only by $2, so still a good price. For that I was able to show up with no appointment and get my hair cut exactly like in the picture I showed the stylist. Very pleased with how it turned out. All told I was there for probably less than 20 minutes (only one other customer when I went in). Found a space to park out front, but at busier times it might get tricky. read more

Got a "trim" here yesterday. I asked for things to be evened out. I've been growing out from having shaved my head last fall. What I got was 3/4 inch length taken off everything and things are still longer on the one side than the other in the area I specifically asked to have evened out. First off, I was looking for a place to color and fix my orange, brassy ugly hair that someone messed up. My boyfriend recommended me this place because he gets his hair cut here. I was kind of skeptical because what does he know about highlights? And all of the reviews here on yelp mention just hair cuts. But I decided to give it a chance and I am so glad I did! Kelli is amazing. I showed her what I wanted, which was an ashy brown color with blonde highlights. She was able to fix my orange hair and she was so nice and professional. She always made sure I was comfortable and always made sure I never had hair hanging in my face or eyes, which can get pretty annoying for those with long hair who knows what I'm talking about. This is an awesome little place. The prices are unbeatable. I went in for a haircut; above the shoulders, light layers and some framing around the face. And I recieved exactly what I asked for. I had to ask them to open their door to get some fresh air, but they were accommodating, and the fumes in this small place were minimal. Granted...I cut my own hair and have for years. Sometimes it goes better than other times. It had gotten pretty wacked d/t dull scissors, tremors...whatever. I brought my own shampoo so I wasn't left smelling foofie, that was fine. I don't believe I said more than even it up blah blah blah. Didn't really anticipate feeling like I did when as a child Dad would take me to his barber EVERY TWO WEEKS...jeez, save the money. Point is his barber left it pretty damn short. The back of my head now is so short I can't see hair from the back below my ear enough to visualize in the mirror. Wow...blinkin short. MORE so than I wanted. Not sure I'll go back, might give Kelli Nguyen another shot. Seriously...I feel 12 years old again except the hair is grey and not in a John Kennedyesque look anymore. The staff are always very welcoming, friendly and serve a wide variety of folk from old cute couples like I saw today to adorable toddlers and their parents. I started going here several months ago when my regular nail lady, Jessica Phan, formerly from Pola Belle on Greenwood Ave, moved here. I've been a customer of hers for years now and was referred originally to her as "the best in the city" by friends. I've had many manicures by many others and Jessica is truly a highly skilled artisan. The thing is, I see Jessica every month to get both a french gel fill and a Brazilian and my bill is consistently extremely affordable at $50 for both! She does an amazing job. She's very talented, sweet and I absolutely love her. Before I found Jessica, I was paying over $65 + tip for a Brazilian alone! You WILL NOT be disappointed with her services. read more

I impulsively decided to get a trim this morning, so I looked up places in my neighborhood and chose 22 because of the good ratings and low price. I usually spend $50-60 on a haircut, and was nervous about the quality of my cut, but was really happy with the outcome. Kelli didn't use any products, just a spray bottle, comb, and hair dryer, but when she finished my hair was blown out and trimmed as nicely (if not better) than my usual more expensive cuts. Dry haircut was $10. I walked in on impulse and had nearly 5 inches cut off - Kelli didn't hesitate. She is very skilled and it took less than 30 minutes from beginning to end and my hair looked great. Located right on Greenwood Avenue N where you can still find parking.
