The people who work here are angels. I had a hair emergency that kept getting worse because every salon I contacted couldn't book an ASAP appointment and didn't seem to care. My hair had gotten so tangled that it was matted, I had really long hair that was difficult to manage. I was devastated by the thought of losing all my hair- I felt that mu femininity was wrapped up in having long hair. The empathy of the receptionist and stylist blew me away. They got me in for a consult the next day, showed genuine care and concern that made the awful situation seem less dire. I was reassured that I would not need a Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta haircut. I ended up really, really liking the cute cut they gave me- it made me not mind having short hair! The ladies at Red Chair rescued me from Hair Hell, and I am so grateful to them! Will be coming back for other services! read more

I booked a double process touch-up with a senior stylist. After I booked, I was reassigned to a stylist with no experience (Haley). I had not known that otherwise I would have rejected the appointment. My hair lifts easily, and Haley noted that. Despite that, she used too strong a developer and damaged my hair beyond belief. Not only that. She missed half of my head with toner. She noticed. And didn't tell me. She let me leave the salon with half of my head not toned. It's very noticeable from the back. I didn't see it at the appointment because she didn't show me the back - and now I know why. That's the worst of it, but she also didn't rinse my hair properly, so I still had product dried up and crusty in my hair. And she barely used any product while she blew out my hair on the highest heat, burning my scalp a couple of times and damaging my hair even more. And it was still a bit wet by the time I left. I'm usually pretty relaxed, so I didn't complain until after I went home and noticed that my head wasn't properly toned (which is also not that hard to do, I've done it myself during covid lockdowns - so it really is incredible that she messed up this bad and didn't say anything, hoping I wouldn't notice). Nothing about my experience with Haley was positive. Her work was incredibly sloppy, negligent, and dishonest. Edited to add (in response to Howie, the owner): You know the issue isn't with the toner itself - I did not see that she didn't do the back otherwise I obviously wouldn't have been "pleased". Again, you know this. I have a photo attached. You see how bad it is. I don't know why you're trying to act like that quality of service is okay. Hi Howie, Thank you for responding yesterday and conducting a review today. I wanted to clarify a few points: I did not hear anything about a shampoo or scalp massage during my visit. If I had, I would not have declined it, because it's one of the reasons I specifically booked the "Short Cut"($65). On Vagaro.com, where I booked it, it explicitly states that all Cut & Style appointments include a relaxing shampoo and scalp massage. While I did give specific instructions (including "please add a lot of texture on top"), the haircut took only about 15 minutes. On past visits to Red Chair Salon and other salons/barbers, a textured, messy short cut with that level of detail takes longer than 15 minutes. Fifteen minutes felt rushed and did not reflect the level of service I've received from your salon in the past. At checkout, I tipped in cash and didn't voice dissatisfaction on the spot because I assumed I might have accidentally booked the wrong service. I chose to give the staff the benefit of the doubt because of my positive experiences in the past. However, when I left and checked my confirmation email, it clearly showed I had booked (and paid for) a Short Cut with shampoo/scalp massage. I called the salon at 6:36 PM (11/21) that same day to clarify what had happened. The staff member who answered told me that I did not receive the shampoo or scalp massage because I had been charged for a clipper cut ($55 and $10 less expensive then a short cut), and that this lower tier service was the reason for not receiving the shampoo/scalp massage. This contradicts both the receipt and the holiday promotion email. Also, I had Vagaro.com pulled up on my computer while calling, and I read during the call that the cheaper clipper cut included the shampoo and scalp massage. I pointed out this discrepancy to the person who picked up the phone. After that, I asked for Amy's email, to which I was redirected toward a refund/complimentary redo. I decided to end the call shortly after. Regarding expressing my concerns publicly on multiple platforms: I tried to contact Amy via email and I could not find her email online. So I searched LinkedIn and wanted to contact her there, but I didn't find her. I instead found Howie. So I messaged you first on LinkedIn at 7:37 PM (11/21). I saw you had only 3 connections and assumed the account was inactive, so I posted publicly on other platforms to let management know what happened. I've have had great experiences in the past, which is why I initially gave the benefit of the doubt(and left a tip!). Unfortunately, this visit fell far short of the standard I've come to expect from Red Chair, especially because I have a family wedding to attend next week. I appreciate your offer for a refund and following up after yesterdays reply, but at this point I'll respectfully decline and won't be returning. The staff is very nice. The couple of issues is that we have to post pictures of yourself now and a picture of what you want your haircut to look like. I did that. I chatted with the stylist and asked her if she saw the picture. Needless to say, I did not get what I asked for. The cut is fine, but I asked for a curtain bangs and framing around the face. I left with a long bob. The biggest issue is the cleanliness of the shop. Of course there is going to be hair on the floor. But it looked like it hadn't been deepened cleaned in a very long time. Sarah is a fantastic cutter and stylist. Whenever I go there, I'm usually a few months late of when I should've gone. My hair looks stringy and sad. I just tell Sarah to do what she thinks and with her creative ability, I walk out with a great cut! So, I talked my husband into going with me to get his hair cut. My husband is the kind of man that shaves his head the minute it starts getting hot outside and that's what he calls a good haircut! He NEVER goes to salons, so I was a little apprehensive but Sarah made him feel absolutely comfortable. Im really disappointed in the management of this salon. I've been going to this salon for over two years, and have seen various stylists to accommodate their schedule and staffing changes when needed. Loyalty means nothing to this salon even though the stylist are great. But when it comes to the salon calling DAY OF to asking to move my appointment two hours of when they are calling or I have to cancel my appointment to accommodate their business needs- it's lacking professionalism. It's not the first time that they've called and asked me to move my appointment up, and usually I can! But I can't just miss half a day of work or commute an extra hour to and from my job. For them to just cancel on me when I've had a service booked for over a week and need my bangs trimmed desperately is so disappointing. I can't just take time off of work without notice- and if they would have given me notice in the beginning of the week or when initially making the booking, I would have more flexibility in adjusting my schedule. But they'll cancel because they don't want to pay their staff to stay longer and they just want (not need) to close their business early for the day and won't even tell me what the last booking of the day is when I'm trying to work with their schedule for a different stylist. read more

She was wonderful; she really listened to what i said, looked at the photos I brought, and then created it with a minimum of fuss. I have now gotten my hair done by Annalise twice and both experiences were amazing! She gave me the best haircut I have ever gotten and both times they absolutely nailed the color. I have had red hair for almost 4 years and after working with her, I can safely say she has given me my favorite shade/style yet. They executed my vision in a way that was even better than I hoped for! The environment of the salon is very welcoming and fun, which is nice. I took a chance and first got a cut which was great and then got an appt with Kendal for color. I can honestly say that in the 10 years or more that I've been coloring my hair every fun color under the sun, that Kendal is THE best I've ever had :) It's been nearly two months and literally every single day, since day one, someone tells me how much they love my hair. I went to Sarah to do a fashion color balayage and cut. Sarah was super friendly the whole time and even recommended that I get some long layers to help make my hair feel a little lighter. (My hair is very dark and thick.) I came in asking for a vibrant dark purple balayage and the initial result just did not show very much purple at all. Looking from the back, you couldn't even tell my hair was dyed, even in the sun. So I was pretty disappointed when I got home and took a closer look. However, I'm giving 5 stars because Sarah offered a complimentary redo after I showed her pics, and she agreed that it wasn't what I asked for. The second time I visited, it came out great! Still subtle indoors, but definitely a lot more pigment in the light, and you can actually see it from behind as well. Sarah also made sure to make it more dark purple than before, which had more of a reddish undertone. I don't fully blame her for the first visit because my hair is unusually thick, and she underestimated how much lightener and color I would need. I also really liked that she didn't push me to buy any of their products, which I was expecting. Instead, she recommended products to buy outside! Wow this place is the BEST. After a ~traumatic~ haircut about two years ago I was fairly terrified of going to a hairdresser again, but as my split ends grew and grew I knew I could only go without for so long, so I tentatively started looking for a place to go that had experienced and qualified stylists who knew how to work on long, curly, men's hair - a lot of qualifiers that eliminates a majority of stylists. Luckily for me, I met Leah, the manager of this salon at a community event and she gushed over one of her stylists, Hannah, and her love of curly hair. Even more - this stylist has a lot of men's clients. Sounds great! The Salon itself has a professional yet personal vibe, with a lot of local art and an overall "Movie Theater meets Barber Shop meets Tattoo Parlor" aesthetic, and seems to serve a very diverse and inclusive crowd of customers. One of my favorite parts about walking into the Salon is their Salon Brand products. I'm definitely a hair nerd myself and I was really impressed by the quality of ingredients they offered in their product line at the affordable price they were able to offer it for. Don't worry though: For people who still want a big name brand product, they also retail Amika products. My stylist Hannah was absolutely fantastic and very passionate about her career and *so* knowledgeable. She was very easy to talk to, and knew so much about curly hair, cosmetic formulation, and biology as it pertains to hair. She was able to put me at ease and made the haircut enjoyable. I'm sensitive to some ingredients and she was super nonjudgmental and absolutely accommodating. Of course, the nicest stylist and prettiest salon mean nothing if the services aren't good but luckily that's not an issue here. Hannah was able to give me such a good haircut and styled my curly hair fantastically. My hair really feels like it just lays perfectly with all the volume in the right places and smoother where I want it, and she was able to lighten it up a ton without making it look thin. If you are in Seattle I absolutely recommend this salon to people of any background. From their ambiance to their service to the quality of their stylists it is total home run here. Laken is the GOAT. I went in on Friday and got a taper fade, realized the blending could be better when I got home, called about it, boom appointment next day to get it cleaned up. Next day, she went straight to it, made sure I checked myself multiple times, and the deal was done. I saw many reviews being unhappy about their results, but they probably don't speak up about it, so how would the stylist know you don't like it, love? The salon also provides a complimentary touch-up within 4 weeks of the original appointment! Needless to say, I'm very happy with the results and this is my new go-to spot. read more
