I am very disappointed to have to give such a low rating to this place. I had messaged through Yelp to find a salon that provides keratin hair service. I got a message from Salon Refine saying they do a keratin service but wouldn't tell me details over message and told me to call. Which is fine, just not convenient. When I called to ask about the service, I was told the costs depends on the stylist but starts at 100$ and the appointment will take around 2 hours. Since I hadn't been before I booked any stylist they had available. I think I ended up getting Emily as a stylist. The day of the appointment, I was 15 minutes early and probably shouldn't have been because they were 15 minutes late so I ended up waiting 30 minutes, but this wasn't a big issue. The stylist was very nice but she told me a lot of things that I wish the front desk told me straight away before coming. The stylist informed me that I was there for the keratin express, which is not what I wanted. I wanted the full keratin treatment but was now told that the full keratin treatment is a totally different price range ($300+) and takes over 3 hours. If I had known this information I would probably have ended up going somewhere else as I was getting quotes around $200 elsewhere. Since my appointment was booked near the time the salon closed I decided to just go for the express and I was told the result will be similar but won't last as long (at most 2 months). There was some sort of conditioning that was put in my hair (extra 50$ apparently) and then a Brazilian keratin treatment sprayed into my hair and then blow dried. My hair was never flat ironed, which I found weird but I accepted. When I left the salon, I was happy as my hair seemed softer and straighter but not flat straight like I have seen others get with this treatment. Within minutes of walking home, my boyfriend and I both noticed a lot of flyaway hairs. I assumed that this might be because the rest of the hair was smoother. As instructed, I washed my hair several days later, but I feel like my treatment washed away completely. My hair is back to being frizzy with flyways and the insides of my hair still have curls. Overall, I am disappointed that I spent so much time and money to have straight hair for only a couple of days. For reference, I am from Asia and my hair is wavy. The location and the stylist were nice, I am just disappointed in the result. read more

I've been going to Salon Refine for a few years and have seen maybe 3-4 different stylists, all of whom were great but have come and gone. Last year, I made an appointment with Jazzmyn and haven't looked back! I initially booked an appointment with Jazzmyn when I was searching for a new stylist and had some major concerns with hair loss and changes to my scalp/skin due to being sick. She really took the time to understand my concerns and incorporated the right products to address them during my haircut and color. She really cares about your hair and how it makes you feel! She recommended one of my favorite products (like oribe's dry shampoo --purple bottle) that I still use every other day! The normal cut and color services always look great. She also styles my hair really nicely too, and I can never get it to look as good as she does! Jazzmyn also offers a lovely scalp treatment with a super relaxing scalp massage, and uses hair oils to moisturize the scalp and hair. After the treatment, my hair was shiny and super soft! My scalp also felt really moisturized and not itchy anymore from the dry PNW Winter. Highly recommend any hair service with Jazzmyn! Unfortunately I have to write this post due to my experiencesat Salon Refine. I have been here twice, first time for a trim and second time for curtain bangs. The first trim I learned that my hair was not even in the back after finishing but it wasn't very noticeable. The second haircut was for long curtain bangs and long layers overall. My stylist cut my curtain bangs too short (to my mouth) when I asked for them under my chin, and they were uneven and choppy from the rest of my hair. The stylist next to her just recommended for me to wear my hair curly to hide the mistake. I come to learn my hair is also unevenly cut in the back as well. Choppy all over (refer to the photo). This was days before my best friend's wedding as I mentioned it to the stylist. I am overall very disappointed and trying to grow my hair back out evenly now for my own wedding. read more

I went to Salon Refine for a haircut a few weeks ago and saw a new hairstylist Haili. That was a good experience, and she mentioned she was a blonde specialist, and sold me on how she would balayage my hair really well as to not "damage" the ends more. So, I cancelled my hair color appointment at a salon I had been going to for years, as I felt Haili would do a great job based on what she stated. Day comes for the hair color appointment, and first Haili was running behind, so I did not get seated until 35min past the original appointment time. Then I sit in the chair and say I want to feel bright all over again and I do not like "yellow blonde" and Haili went to mix up. Not sure if this is a standard process but in my experience getting balayage, foil is not used, and that is what Haili used to balayage my hair. Next we go to the sink after processing, and Haili says "Im going to put a toner on you hair, I will be right back". Haili comes back puts the toner on, then fast forward to the end. My hair is hardly styled as there was another client waiting for their appt(which they will be seat 45-50min late). I am rushed over to checkout where I am then told oh by the way the toner I put on is another $50...Shouldn't I have been told that prior to application of the toner? The checkout process was so rushed and uncomfortable. I pay and go home feeling uncertain that I like anything about what just happened. In the natural light I observe my hair, and the hair color is stripey and not blended . I then put my hair up in a pony and there is a distinct line where the color starts, have never had this happen before and have been getting my hair colored for 15 years. By this time the salon is closed, as I tried to call after noticing these issues. I call the next day at 11AM when they open and explain that I just want a refund at this point as I do not trust that it would be corrected if I came back in. She was understanding of what I said and states she will speak with the boss/owner and get back to me and confirms my cell #. I was called back the next day and offered to refund the tip and toner cost because "they thought I was happy with the service". My word doesnt matter I guess and my efforts and time spent trying to explain my unhappiness doesnt matter, so I will not be going back, which is a bummer because I also really loved their nail salon but I can no longer support this business. Price over the phone isn't the same as in person :( Also so overpriced for a blowout. $75?...but whatever. I was charged an extra $5 for "more product used" for my hair.. meanwhile I only got 2 shampoos and a conditioner. Thats it! That's normal at any salon! There shouldn't be an "extra charge" for that. Initially the stylist only gave me 1 shampoo and I asked for 2 since 2 is the norm. That's another thing. Why are your stylists only washing hair once? Like ew. Twice is industry standard. I've worked in salons before, I know. So I guess that's why I was charged extra? Just stupid. Front desk lady is also awkward and unhelpful. She's not good at resolving customer service issues. She literally just "okayed" me when I told her I don't understand what I'm being charged extra for. She just kept repeating herself like she was talking to a child lol. Like do better girl. That extra $5 that they charged me was definitely not worth losing a potential regular client. And It's not even the money, it's the principle. I don't care for $5 but it's just the lack of sense. It costs a business a lot more in the end to have bad customer service instead of just trying to be understanding and make the client or customer happy. A smart business owner knows that. Especially when it made no sense to charge me extra. I hope they're happy with the $5 lol! I'll take my beautiful hair and money elsewhere yawll! I came in looking for a natural lift to my blonde hair. Haili did a FANTASTIC job - I love my hair! This was my first time getting my hair lightened and I was a bit nervous. Haili did a really good job of listening to what I wanted and having a discussion with me first. She was able to explain why foil was better than balayage to get the natural, lightened look I wanted. I really feel that my hair has been given the extra little oomph that I was looking for. Haili Dawson did an AMAZING job with my haircut today!!! I told her that since I moved to Seattle, that I haven't had any luck with finding a good hairstylist and how I had to wait for my hair to grow out from my last bad haircut (someone outside of Salon Refine!!) I even considered waiting until I visited home out of state in October before I trusted another Seattle hairstylist. However, I was looking like a Hansen brother and couldn't tolerate it anymore. She immediately saw the poor job & bad layering that was currently existing and FINALLY a Seattle hairstylist who gave me excellent SHAPING around my face but was able to keep some length at the same time! But the fact that she gave me shaping around my face was HUGE for me!! No more Hansen brother hair!! I feel that she's the only Seattle hairstylist who understands how important that is! This review is of my experience with HoMing. I considered getting another brazilian blowout for a while but put off doing so while searching for the right place to go to. With the warm weather and some humidity, my hair had been acting on its own looking crazy and frizzy. But luck would have it, I found a Groupon deal for a brazilian blowout with HoMing. I couldn't believe what a steal it was so I immediately bought it and scheduled an appointment with him (online booking too - what a breeze!) Even as a first-time customer, HoMing made me feel like a long-time returning client since the moment I stepped in the salon. He's very friendly, courteous, and genuine all around. He's knowledgeable, super informative. From the moment I sat down, he made sure I knew what to expect during the procedure and afterwards, and took the time to thoroughly explained how it works and all the steps. HoMing has years and years of experience and uses top of the line products and tools. He's passionate about what he does and it truly shows. He made the 1.5 hours session enjoyable and fun. He was very clear on the extra cost due to my hair length and the split-end trim that I requested, so there was really no surprise fee at all. Note that there's a 5% fee if you pay with credit cards so he really encourages cash or checks to avoid that fee. I can't be happier with the results. My hair looks and feels the healthiest it's ever been in a long time! It's really smooth, soft, and shiny! It's so manageable effortlessly now even during humid, warm weather. My husband, who doesn't usually throw compliments, gets out his way telling me how nice my hair looks and that he really likes it :) I waited a few days until I could finally wash my hair before writing this review. My hair actually air-dries straight now with no frizz, tangles or unwanted curls (it was originally on a wavier side) but still maintains its body and volume. Salon Refine itself is a high-end salon, it's very nice and clean. There's plenty of 4-hr street parking available but they validate a 2-hour parking if you park downstairs. Could not ask for a better experience than this. It was truly a first-rate experience just at a fraction of the price. I would highly recommend him! read more

Long long overdue review but I've finally found the salon for me in Seattle, and with HoMing! First off, the atmosphere is chic, clean, and professional. There's parking right outside and on the street, though I personally like walking here so I can enjoy the city with my fresh cut right after. What I love most is my hairdresser HoMing! He genuinely cares about what the customer wants and encourages me to bring in pictures to better show him what styles I'd like to try. He also gives his real and professional opinion on what I'm asking for so i know my hair will suit my face shape and hair type. HoMing also gives the best hair washes and scalp massages - literally heaven! He's also very helpful with sharing tips and tricks for caring for and styling my hair, and remembers little tidbits from conversations we've had from previous appointments.
