I paid $320 to a the hair stylist Sylvia for the worst hair and dye job
    Emily S.

I would not recommend anyone to go to Salon Voda. High prices for low quality work and poor customer service. For starters, this was the first experience getting my hair colored, I brought in a picture showing the color and look I was going for. The stylist (Sylvia) assured me what I wanted was tangible and that the technique she would be using would look better than a balayage. After bleaching my hair, the stylist dried and curled it and said that the lines of brown and yellow would fade out and the color of my hair would lighten over time and that I wouldn't need to tone my hair. I have never colored my hair before and wasn't sure exactly what to expect. After going home, my roommate pointed out all of the harsh lines and geometric shapes throughout my hair and informed me that my hair should have been blended better. I then contacted the stylist and sent her photos of the areas in my hair that weren't blended, and that I wanted her to fix. She did not respond for three days. It took me calling the salon and leaving 2 messages and talking to another stylist over the phone for the original stylist to contact me back and schedule another appointment for her to fix my hair. Going into the second appointment to fix the blending and chunkiness in my hair; I explained that I did not want to see the large brown chunks and wanted to be able to style my hair and not be worried about having to cover up lines of where the blonde and brown starts and stops. Half way through the stylist foiling my hair, another one of her clients walks in and was waiting for her to finish with me to begin her hair. After my hair was fully foiled that client and her step outside for a few minutes and then came back inside. The hair stylist then grabs the tray of bleach, brushes, and combs she had just used on my hair and WITHOUT washing or cleaning anything, directly starts applying the same bleach to the other clients hair. After sitting with bleach and foil in my hair for about 40 minutes I noticed that the stylist was just over half way through with the other clients hair. After just having my hair bleached a week before I started to worry about the bleach damaging my hair. I felt uncomfortable with my hair being left unattended and un checked for so long. After 52 minutes pass, the stylist finally finishes coloring the other clients hair and starts to check my foils and washes the bleach out. As soon as she washed my hair I could tell my hair was incredibly damaged. It was matted, straw like and could not be untangled. The stylist then attempted to brush and blow dry my hair without using any product. I finally had to tell her to stop and that I don't think we should continue to dry hair considering how damaged and dry it was. I paid $320 for this hair nightmare. The hair stylist seemed she was in over her head from the beginning and either didn't care, or was too prideful to recommend someone else to do the job. My hair is incredibly damaged. I've had to go buy intensive hair care products to try and repair my hair. I have since gone to a get color correction, and hair strengthening treatments at Bang Salon in Belltown, I would recommend going there. The stylist at Bang Salon are very experienced and professional, unlike the disaster I encountered at Salon Voda

Toyota gave me the best haircut today! I love the layers and the softness he added to the ends. He really listened to what I wanted but also added his own touches. I really love it!

Sylvia Kim's handy work. LOVE IT!

Sylvia Kim is the best stylist in the state of Washington!!! If I could give this place 10* I would! Background: I have been flying to SoCal to get haircuts since 2004 because of many many terrible haircuts in Washington (3 butchered my hair, and a different 3 tried to fix it... there goes $500). I have major trust issues about people cutting my hair (see above) and was very reluctant to find a stylist in Washington because I don't know anyone that is happy with their stylist and know of at least 4 other girls that fly elsewhere to get their hair done. I had to find one in Washington to appease the boyfriend and I'm really glad I did because I found Sylvia! Sylvia knows how to cut hair! She isn't about fashion and the latest trends, she's about GLAMOUR!!!! She won't just cut off your hair how she likes or like some stylists, only cut it the one way they know how. She will ask questions, figure out what you want, how much time you spend styling or taking care of your hair, looking at your facial features & structure, and figure out the best cut for YOU. I left feeling absolutely beautiful and incredibly happy! Love it!!! AND more importantly, my boyfriend LOVES IT!

My hair had gotten so tangled that it was matted, I had really long hair that was difficult to manage. I was devastated by the thought of losing all my hair- I felt that mu femininity was wrapped up in having long hair. The empathy of the receptionist and stylist blew me away. They got me in for a consult the next day, showed genuine care and concern that made the awful situation seem less dire. I was reassured that I would not need a Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta haircut. I ended up really, really liking the cute cut they gave me- it made me not mind having short hair! The ladies at Red Chair rescued me from Hair Hell, and I am so grateful to them! Will be coming back for other services!

I had not known that otherwise I would have rejected the appointment. My hair lifts easily, and Haley noted that. Despite that, she used too strong a developer and damaged my hair beyond belief. Not only that. She missed half of my head with toner. She noticed. And didn't tell me. She let me leave the salon with half of my head not toned. It's very noticeable from the back. I didn't see it at the appointment because she didn't show me the back - and now I know why. That's the worst of it, but she also didn't rinse my hair properly, so I still had product dried up and crusty in my hair. And she barely used any product while she blew out my hair on the highest heat, burning my scalp a couple of times and damaging my hair even more. And it was still a bit wet by the time I left. I'm usually pretty relaxed, so I didn't complain until after I went home and noticed that my head wasn't properly toned (which is also not that hard to do, I've done it myself during covid lockdowns - so it really is incredible that she messed up this bad and didn't say anything, hoping I wouldn't notice). Nothing about my experience with Haley was positive. Her work was incredibly sloppy, negligent, and dishonest. Edited to add (in response to Howie, the owner): You know the issue isn't with the toner itself - I did not see that she didn't do the back otherwise I obviously wouldn't have been "pleased". Again, you know this. I have a photo attached. You see how bad it is. I don't know why you're trying to act like that quality of service is okay. I didn't realize Red Chair's standards were so low, and I regret that I gave you all a shot :/ Also, I have to spend the holidays looking like this. So thanks for that.

It's been a while since I've written one of these for a haircut but this one was awesome. Andy helped me work out a plan for it and did a cut that gave my fine, very straight hair lots of movement, texture, and style even with my super low maintenance daily routine. It's been a week now since getting it cut, and sometimes when you do that first week (or even first wash) you have a moment where you're like "hey where'd all the cool haircut go, it's just mush again?" NOT SO. This one maintains great movement and texture even with just blow drying it the night before and tossing texturizer in it in the morning (which I got at a discount thanks to their welcome package). I also loved seeing all the different types of neighborhood people around--not just like fancy people getting their hair done but a really wide spectrum from older dudes to younger NB folx and femmes. TLDR: Great experience with a haircut from Andy (pic attached if you're interested) and really enjoyed the salon itself

Beverages are offered and they use great products. However my second visit was just a few days ago with Sarah. What I asked for I got the complete opposite. She gave me a blow out so my hair looked beautiful leaving but the next day washing it seeing my natural waves and curls and really inspecting the cut. I look a bit chopped. The front was not face framing instead she gave me 4 steps. The front is uneven and choppy as heck. My hair is gone so no way to fix that and wouldn't trust her to fix it tbh so I have to take an expensive loss. I cried all night yesterday just looking at the front pieces. Just embarrassing. I paid a lot and tipped very well just for it to look like an amateur cut my hair. Don't come here. I regret coming here as I looked better with my dead ends. I could've cut my own hair better which I have. This was supposed to be a pick me up to make me feel beautiful now 2 days later I am in regret not feeling like how I should and wanted. Sooooo expensive and terrible results. Also they could've been friendlier. I felt she got tired blow drying my hair. They are supposed to be knowledgeable in long, thick hair, curly hair, wavy hair. I wanted to choose this stylist due to her good reviews but I really cannot recommend her or this salon. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I am distraught.
