Took in my daughters Lionhead rabbit to have his rear teeth trimmed because they were growing abnormal a procedure Not taken lightly in any manner. The staff the veterinarian everyone handled it very professionally. Not only did they do an excellent job I've never felt more comfortable with a veterinarian. I would recommend This veterinary clinic to anyone that has a small animal I'm sure they do great on cats and dogs but they were outstanding . I do not recommend Kerri Cooper-Bailey MS, DVM in any capacity. Dr. Kerri Cooper-Bailey MS, DVM at the Barberton Veterinary Clinic in Barberton, OH mistreated my leopard gecko and did not communicate her actions. We brought our 7 year old rescued leopard gecko for evaluation which went well and she provided care information and prescriptions for his recovery. The next day he broke his leg due to MBD (metabolic bone disease). We brought him back in and they set the leg. When we came back for radiographs he was about to shed. We asked what to do about his cast with him shedding and she told us not to do anything, they will take care of it the next time we come in to re-wrap is leg. Dr. Cooper-Bailey took it upon herself to allow her vet-techs to remove his shed while they had him in the back. Over the next couple days he showed distress, shiny sensitive areas on his skin, as well as a big stuck shed area under the wrapping for his leg. I called and asked if she shed our gecko and why. She claimed that "no one has complained before" and "we did it to treat the arm." However, the arm was not shed as it wasn't ready to shed. They also never mentioned to us that they shed him, we suspected it immediately and I called the next day to ask what happened. F dr.Riggsis a great vet and very knowledgeable on all of the animals I went to other vets that were cheaper and then they ended up referring me to Dr. Riggs so might as well go to him first especially with any exotics only thing is he is a little pricey but you get what you pay for so if you want the best it's going to cost you but he is also upfront with you on any problems or animal might haveAndy's upfront about the price should be free to discuss your price with him and he will tell you alternatives. Every time I've taken my hedgehogs in Dr.Velez seems very knowledgeable and kind and answers all my questions and concerns BUUUUT whoever "trindy" the receptionist is, can take her attitude and shove it!!!! Every time I've called she has been a complete b**** and is VERY rude! If you're to busy and short staffed that isn't a clientele issue! Or maybe you should find a job you actually like! Every time I call and get this woman on the phone it takes everything possible to not lose my shit! Critical: Reliability, Responsiveness I'm writing this very heart broken in attempt to save a rabbits life or chance at being with your rabbit or any pet for saying goodbye. We were in a very rough situation with our rabbit Huey. He was EVERYTHING to me. I cant say Dr. Velez didnt try but more could've been done. After our rabbit was transferred here on Sunday morning from Metropolitan E.R. He was in rough shape. He was already suffering from a respiratory infection which turned into Gi stasis and then sepsis because of prolonging everything at Metropolitan. They were swamped with emergency cases and we waited there for 4.5 hours. We went ahead and did blood work and his white and red blood cells were very low. This is where Barberton dropped the ball. I spoke with Dr. Velez at 3pm on Sunday about what his condition could be with the way Huey's bloodwork turned out. We asked if we would be hearing from them about any updates and the doctor said typically we give update calls between 5-7pm. So we were under the impression they would call us again later. My husband asked if we could possibly pick him up and take him back to metro to be observed overnight because everyone at barberton leaves at 6pm! And the doctor said she wasnt sure what that entailed and I asked if transporting him back from Metro over night would prolong things because he was supposed to have an ultrasound sunday morning and she said probably. So I said okay keep him over night. BIG MISTAKE. As soon as we got off the phone I realized he was going to be ALONE FOR 14 HOURS. I couldnt bare it. I knew he needed to be fed critical care every 4 hours!!! My husband and I called Barberton from 3pm till 7pm non stop. They did not have the decency to pick up the phone or call us like they said with an update. We wanted to keep him overnight ourselves and bring him back first thing in the morning. We were robbed of the chance of saying goodbye. The next morning we got the phone call that he didnt make it and she said with the way his bloodwork was she knew it wasnt looking good. If she knew that why didnt she offer us to take him home and be with him in his final hours?! I pretty much want to kill myself to be with him again and I am so angry with this place for what happened. I will never forgive myself or them. Our lives are ruined forever and our romaine hearts are broken. ( This is for you Huey! And for the precious time we can save someone else. I'm so sorry for everyone that failed you. Im sorry you were alone for 14 hours and probably gave up because we weren't there. I know you passed away in the morning because you were still very warm when I held you. I love you so much. Okay, if you're really serious about bringing your pet to this clinic you need to read this carefully. I had a hard time deciding how to rate my experience with this vet for a number of reasons. But to sum this up, they received only 3 stars due to what I feel is over charging for minor services. Otherwise, when it came to the quality of care they provided for my pet and the friendliness of the staff, etc... I would give them a 5 star rating. Dr. Riggs is amazing and called me 2 to 3 times a week to give me updates on my pets progress and what direction the veterinary staff had chosen to take with his care. The facility itself is very clean and welcoming. However, I brought in my Russian Tortoises- a relatively maintenance free creature, to have a feeding tube installed due to a lack of appetite & inactivity. I'm well aware that the procedure to install a feeding tube is anything but simple and have no problem with the price I was charged for this. But when it comes to tube feeding (which is a once a day process), I was charged $20.00 a day for something that takes less than 4 minutes to do. And on one of those days, was charged $30.00 (Supplemental Hand Feeding) for some unknown reason. I could understand these prices had I brought in a vicious snake or a nasty tempered dog but a tortoises? Come on! They're harmless!!! I was also charged $20.00 a day for boarding & $8.00 for "Hospital UVB" - again I present the argument above. If it doesn't cost me $8.00 a day to have a UVB lamp at home, nor $20.00 a month to feed him- then why charge so much just because he required less than 5 minutes a day of your time?!? I get that business need to make a profit but seriously- wtf! read more

This was such an incredibly disappointing experience. I brought my Quaker bird in because his leg had a cut on it and he wouldn't stop picking at it. They put a cast on his leg and around the foot and put it on so tight it cut off the circulation to his toes. When the cast was removed his toes were completely black . In just a couple of weeks all of his toes literally fell off. It was horrifying and heartbreaking. When I finally wrote a letter to Dr. Riggs expressing my disappointment in my bird's care, he completely denied any responsibility and actually said it was my fault...?? I was extremely disappointed at how unprofessional he was. As a business owner in the large animal industry, it is extremely disappointing at best, to have witnessed such unprofessional behavior. It is difficult to understand how I was to blame for the foot but worse yet, my bird suffered needlessly because of a lack of caring or lack of skill (or both) of the technicians under his authority.
