Most recently I came with my mom in March 2021 looking just for the suet. It is a cool store with lots of bird-centric products. I could easily see walking through the store just looking at everything, but the day we stopped we had frozen food in the car so had to make our trip quick. Workers are friendly and insightful in their interactions. We found the suet easily and the COVID-19 procedures were clearly communicated at the front of the store. Prices for the merchandise are fair. Products are artistically displayed in such a way that jump-starts the creative process for potential new items for the critters in the back yard. The store sign on the outside of the building makes the store visible from the street/parking lot. Parking is available in a large parking lot that is shared with a number of other businesses at the Lake Forest Park Town Centre. So depending on the day/time parking may or may not be easy to come by. All around fun and relatively hassle-free shopping experience. Oh, and Wild Birds Unlimited has a YouTube channel :).

The guy I spoke with said yes, they do have birds for adoption, but didn't clarify much beyond that. I assumed it would be like a Petco-style place where you can meet and adopt birds. When I arrived, I was shocked by how dusty the store was and how poorly maintained the cages looked. The birds' habitats seemed depressing and unsuitable -- definitely not the kind of environment where birds should live. When I asked about adopting a bird, I was told flat out, "THEY ARE NOT FOR ADOPTION." I was confused because didn't I call to ask that? And they said yes? Then I asked, "Neither of them?" He said only two types of birds were actually available for adoption, and those were the same birds you can find at Petco. If I had known this, I wouldn't have driven an hour I was specifically interested in African Grey parrots, which they had but not for adoption and since they are not available at Petco, I thought they would have one there for adoption. We were looking at the birds and we were never told "if you are interested in adopting these are available" which I would've appreciated. I decided to go to Petco after which is 5 min away from my house! and got a jenday conure bird there. Anyway, I ended up buying some sunflower seeds for a bird I already have at home, but he wouldn't eat them, which was weird because those are his favorite. It turned out the bag was expired, which explains why. Overall, this place felt really poorly managed, especially regarding the birds' living conditions. They desperately need better habitats that allow the birds space to stretch their wings and have a more natural, healthy environment. I do not recommend this place.

Suzanne was able to identify key issues in both MY interactions with the bird as well as dietary and a plethora of other things we could change to help the situation. A couple months later things have totally changed! My wife hardly knows he's here and I have enjoyed him much more with his aggression and territorial tendencies subsided. Suzanne is also great for boarding and took my bird on a last minute notice when I had to travel out of town for work. She provides everything the bird could need and the best part is the fresh food. She has all kinds of great food and snacks and I have found several new treats my bird enjoys thru her! Highly recommend! Suzanne has saved me from having to rehome my amazing companion and I am forever grateful.

Lots of moths flying around from the food, though. We continued to purchase supplies and food from Apollo's, but often noticed that the owner was, at best, disinterested. The whole shop is just sort of slapdash, and it always seemed that any questions were met with a healthy dose of apathy. Recently, we scheduled a week in advance to board our conure for a long weekend while we were out of town. We arrived to drop our conure off at 10am right when the store was supposed to open. SUPPOSED to open. After 45 minutes of sitting in the parking lot, repeatedly calling, and staring at the shuttered windows and locked door, we left and made other last minute arrangements, though we were still an hour late getting to the airport. Once we finally got in touch with the store to cancel the boarding reservation, we were met with an aloof apology and a muttered excuse about being 'stuck in traffic' with no offer to make it right. We had also planned to groom our bird during his stay. Since the stay didn't work out, we asked if we could bring him in the following Monday for nails and a wing-clipping. Nope. Again, an apathetic reply that grooming could only be done on Saturdays, and click went the phone. Today, we decided to try Wings of the World in Bothell for a grooming. What a gem of a store. Not only was grooming complimentary, but we learned more about our bird in 20 minutes there than we did from multiple visits to Apollo's. The shop and staff were amazing, eager to help, and genuinely love all things bird-related. Good luck to you, Apollo's. We won't darken your door again.

Tips: They only charge 5 dollars for small birds and 15 for large birds when doing nails, beak and wing trims....way cheaper than the vet and she does a great job. The food and toys are priced fairly and so are the birds for sale. They prefer cash and will give a discount if you use cash instead of debit/credit cards. Beware! If you don't have previous bird experience...Don't touch the birds! The owner told me which birds were "nice" and the first time I was in there I got bit by a "baby" cockatoo...he was NOT NICE! The second time I was told a goffin cockatoo was nice (he looked perfectly sweet) and the little turd jumped on my head, laughed and proceeded to attack me. The owner stood 10 feet away and either chose to ignore the fact that I was fighting for my head back or she was just oblivious to the attack that was happening right in front of her. I managed to up the viscous little attacker and get him back on his cage, but I left with my hair all disarray and my fingers bleeding. Lesson learned!

I've lately started to notice and enjoy birds - they are so sweet and cute! I tried to jerry-rig my own bird feeder but quickly realized I needed professional help. Did a search and found this place. This store is half bird feeding and half floral. The bird feeding side has so much packed into a tiny space, from floor to hanging from the ceiling! Tons of different humming bird feeders (including Hummzinger) and regular bird feeders, as well as tons of accessories like stands, catch trays, and things to keep the squirrels off. They have a wide variety of bird seed and suet blocks, including in bird seed in bulk and stalks of millet or whole cobs of corn. They also have squirrel feed! Strange to me, but true. The floral side was strange to me - expensive (but beautiful) houseplants, gorgeous artistic glass vases, little figurines, stuffed animals, mugs, greeting cards, handmade-looking glazed clay pots, candles, etc. But it was very lush feeling, kind of like stepping into a jungle. The atmosphere was very restful and relaxing. The people who work here were VERY nice and very knowledgable. They were able to answer my million questions, and made sure to tell me things I needed to know but didn't know to ask. Highly recommended.
